Story:
 
    The story is, of course, about the ship Titanic.  NOT!  It's a love story between Jack Dawson and Rose.  Jack won a trip to America from a poker, so he had the chance to ride on the Titanic.  He lost his folks when he was 15, and this poor soul was wandering from place to place without much money with him.  However, he is extremely brilliant in paintings, drawings, and arts.  Rose was born and raised in a royal family.  But, ever since her father died, she got engaged with Cal, this money-stinking man.  They were on their way to America (New York) and get married there (while Rose could help keep her family out from the debt her father left for she and her mother).
    At the first sight, Jack was in love with Rose, but she only thought of him as an insolent boy.   Rose was tired of her "royal life", and was seeking for death by jumping off Titanic.  However, Jack rescued her from jumping off the ship, and their love story began.
    Jack showed her his drawings of nude women that he drew in Paris, and Rose was triggered to have him draw her one one day.  He told her a bit about his life, and Rose reminded him that she is from a royal family.  However, she really liked the way Jack lives, freely without bound.
    Unfortunately, their intimacy was soon suspected by Rose's fiance and her mother.  In the eyes of the rich people, Jack was an outcaste, but Rose didn't care.  She liked it, but she was afraid to rebel.  Finally, Jack answered Rose's request to sketch a picture of her naked body with the diamond necklace her finace gave her.
    Yes, love is romantic, but when disaster hits, the journey of life and death begins.  The Titanic first hits an iceberg (they tried to turn the ship, but it was too late).  The bottom of the ship was wrecked and water quickly pounded in.  The circumstance was chaotic.  The person who built the Titanic, Mr. Thomas Andrews announced that there's only about 1 hour (at most 2) left for evacution before the ship completely sinks.  Women and children were evacuated first, but there were only 20 boats for 2000 people on board.  One thing unfair between the upper class and the lower class is that, the people in upper class gets to have plenty of room in a boat (larger spaces) while there may not be enough boats for the lower-class people.  In addition, the upper class people get priority in boarding the boats.
    Jack pushed Rose to go and evacuate with the boat, but Rose won't leave him behind.  She jumped out of the boat, and were both escaping from Rose's finace, who is chasing after them with a gun.  They finally escaped, and Mr. Murdoch escaped himself, too.  Some people decided to jump off the boat, and some decided to stay and die with the sea.  There was one mom with her two kids where the mom said that she hope her kids will preserve their eternal youth.  She didn't even let her kids know that they're dying.  It may be better that way, but I think it's painful.  There was also a couple who held each other tightly on the bed, silently waiting for the ocean to swallow them.  The captain felt that it was his fault for crashing into the iceberg (and increasing the speed of the ship), so he closed the door to the operating room, waiting for the cold-blooded ocean to swallow him, too.  The person who built the ship, once claimed that Titanic will not sink, was planning to take the blam by waiting in the dining room, waiting for the sea to swallow him as well.  Rose and Jack tried to persuade him, but he decided to take the full blame.  This engineer/mathematician will die with the ship which he was so proud of, yet it turned against him.
    Because the water filling one part of the ship became  too heavy, the ship wrecked apart in two.  Many people couldn't hold on, fell to the ocean, many at a time.  Rose and Jack hanged on to each other, but they couldn't escape the fate of the sinking ship.  Since the water pressure (due to the sinking ship) was so great, Jack and Rose splited.  However, Jack eventually found Rose, and they swam to the closest plank they could find.  The plank could only hold one person, and Jack let Rose lay on there.  They waited forever, but no rescue came.  Finally, after several hours in the below freezing water, one rescue boat came.  However, there were no survivors because they all froze to death.  The only survivor near the accident was Rose.  When Rose woke up on the plank, she found Jack still holding on to her.  His face was frozed and frosted with ice, and he never woke up.  Rose had to leave him, and she was rescued.  Even to the present day, she still remembers him, but there was never a record of such a person.  At the end, Rose threw away that diamond necklace, as it belongs to "the heart of the ocean."

    This is such a beautiful story written and directed by James Cameron.  My description here is not very explicit, so that's why you should go watch it!  Maybe not for the story itself, but at least for Leonardo's sake.  I fully recommend this heart-breaking, love, friendship, life and death story for the best Christmas gift.
