Phew!! One down, three to go. Finals, that is...but hey, I'm almost done, and believe me am I going to enjoy the Christmas break! For one thing, it should leave me with a lot more time for this page...definitely a good thing, since I set a majorly ambitious goal for December. For another...well, let's just say my room is LONG overdue for a good cleaning...what fun, I can spend the whole month catching up on my chores!
Anyways, the topic of the month is: (drumroll please) CANDLES!! :) Well, not really, that was just my inspiration (if you can call this inspired >_<). Have you ever noticed how many more candles are around during the Christmas season? Even my little grocery store has candles in every aisle these days. Which makes sense, really, because Christmas has always been a season of light. I mean, think about it...we put lights on our trees, lights on our houses, lights in the windows and candles everywhere...and of course Christmas isn't the only "light" holiday in December. There's Hanukkah, which starts December 14 (meaning sundown on December 13th), and that holiday is all ABOUT light, and the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days when it should have been gone after one (which of course is the story behind the menorah). Not that I'm going to pretend to know anything about Hanukkah, because I really don't. :) Well, you get the point anyways (assuming there WAS one, for a change). And then there's Kwanzaa, the African-American celebration starting Dec. 26, which lasts for seven days and use the Kinara as a symbol, a candleholder which (just like a menorah) holds one candle for each day of Kwanzaa.
November events...not much, actually, not even a birthday to celebrate. :( But since I'm so late, I do have a December birthday to report--my good friend/adopted brother Russ, who finally joined the ranks of the elderly on Dec. 5. ^_^ Coming up in December--well, Christmas, duh! And Hanukkah. And Kwanzaa. And Boxing Day, and you get the idea I'm sure!
I think I've probably babbled enough for one month, so I'll let you go, after I tell you that November's SJS is now in the archive (as always!) and that's all for now!!
