Mission

We, the sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. strive to strengthen sisterhood amongst women by providing service and promoting
cultural diversity to our members and our community.  Kappa Phi Lambda exists to further educate individuals about Pan-Asian
culture while keeping our own identities.  We each, with out own uniqueness, and through our own abilities, have done a part in
confronting and dealing with important social issues, while also stimulating cultural awareness and self identity.  We aim for academic
excellence, maintaining that education and learning are the tools with which we battle ignorance, suppression, and injustice.  We
emphasize the true significance of community service in order to change the failings and sufferings of our society, further
destroying the chains of passivity with which Asian Americans have been bound for centuries.  We endeavor to be role models for all
people, leaders who will dispel all present stereotypes of Asians by sharing the riches of our various backgrounds and through our
example.  We treasure the values of family, and recognize that sisterhood itself is powerful.  In the midst of multi-culturalism,
together we continue the pursuit of unity.  We represent a generation who will no longer tolerate apathy, or ignorance, proceeding
into the new millennium strong enough to confront any obstacle, unafraid to step onto the world stage adding a new perspective:
nothing is simply black and white anymore.

The  Key  Elements  of  Kappa  Phi  Lambda

Sisterhood The principles of family and the unity that is achieved through the bonds of sisterhood is an elemental part of being a memeber of Kappa Phi Lambda.  It is through this intricate support system that sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda are able to pursue and achieve their goals.  We nurture the essence of family through annual sister conventions, periodic sister road trips, weekly lunches/dinners, sorority parties hosted by every chapter/colony and not to mention by working together in regard to various social and political functions.

  • The sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda stand firmly behind their high academic standards.  Sisters fall under stringent sorority policy to maintain a certain grade point average.   All pledges of Kappa Phi Lambda have mandatory library hours, and are assigned sister tutors when necessary.  Intelligence and strength of character are key when dealing with other organizations, debating varied secular issues, and when communicating with our society.

    Cultural Diversity
While Kappa Phi Lambda exists to teach its members and the surrounding community about the truths and reality of Pan-Asian culture, we by no means limit our membership to only Asians.  We encourage all people, non Asians included, to participate in our journey through learning.  By opening ourselves to different cultures, we can only find deeper parallels with our own, and thus truly benefit society.  This shared understanding between peoples of various heritages through sisterhood strengthens Kappa Phi Lambda, and allows us to reach our goals as an organization.   We are clearly  the most diverse Asian-interest sorority on campus, consisting of various Asian and non-Asian sisters alike.  We  promote this diversity as proof to the poignancy of our message.
