Stage
The setting is basically the same as the one for Kinki, so please refer to the report for Kinki's concert on 31/12.
All audience was given a balloon and a T-shirt. Because the countdown part was going to be broadcast by NTV, before the concert started, we were asked to wear the T-shirt and told that we had tp blow up the balloon once the countdown started and then when it's New Year's Day, we had to let go of the balloon so that it would fly off to the stage. Also, after the countdown the audience were to sing together with J Friends their new single, "People of the World". Hence, before the concert started, we were offered the chance to listen to the song and then practised singin it before the concert started. The lyrics appeared on the TV screen so that we could sing along.
Beginning
The 3 different groups entered the venue in 3 different cars. They entered in the following order: Tokio, V6 and then Kinki Kids.
MC
I don't remember much of the MC as I was too busy chasing after Kou chan with my sports glass and when these guys were together, they just talked so happily that I could not remember who said what cos they were kind of talking all at the same time. This is roughly what I can remember so far:
During the MC, Kou chan suddenly dashed off the stage and ran to the speaker sets in front of the audience.
Tsuyoshi: Oi, where are you going?
Kouichi:.......... (dashed off to the speaker set and found Takizawa Hideaki there)
Kouichi: Takkie, what are you doing here?
Takkie: My mom came over to see Tsuyoshi. (at this point, Tsuyo chan rushed over there as well)
Tsuyoshi: Hai, please support me!
Kouichi: (laughs)
Because it was Kou chan's birthday on 1/1, so J Friends led the audience in singing a Happy Birthday song for Kou chan.
Kinki's Part
Each group took turns to sing their songs. When Kinki sang "Zenbu Dakishimete", they were circling the venue in 2 different open cars. Tsuyoshi was lying with his back on the open car, and changed the lyrics from "Mayou naku, boku wo erabeba ii" to "Myaou naku Tsuyoshi erabeba ii" whilst pointing at his own chest. He looked so cute that he got the entire audience screaming their heads out. (I was one of those, sorry, Kou chan!)
Countdown
As 1999 approached, the TV live broadcast began and they started counting down. When the countdown finished, there were 55,000 balloons flying around in the venue. It was really great and then we started singing "People of the World" together with J-Friends.
Comments
The concert was really great. I liked it even more than the Kinki concerts but I really cannot remember much about what they said, guess partly because I was too excited. So when it was over, my head was just a complete blank. If Johnny's does another countdown in 1999, I will definitely go there again.
