Disclaimer: I own nothing, I know nothing, I am nothing. Sailormoon and her
associates belong to whoever really owns them. Please don't sue me, I'm poor
and I need the few scraps of cash I have to buy Sailor Moon stuff. =)

Author's Note: I used the North American Dubbed names. I know this will
probably irk a great many people, but hey, I've only seen the dubbed version
and this way I won't confuse myself or you. =) The Japanese versions are
available to me here in California but unfortunately, I don't know Japanese.

This story is about Raye and Jadeite. After reading a bunch of Sailor/General
stories, I HAD to write one of my own. Raye and Jadeite are my favorite. By
the way, do you guys know any good Raye and Jed stories? Send me some, please?
I've run out of resources. Thanks. =) And now, on with the show.

                                  Burning Love

                               Prologue: Old Times

The young, little Princess of Mars, Raye, hid behind the bushes, trying to stay
as quiet as a mouse. Forcing her noise making to be minimal as possible, she
watched as a young, blonde boy about two or three years older than her walked
about cautiously and warily. When his back was finally turned towards her,
she jumped from the bushes and hit him hard on the shoulder.

"Tag!" she declared triumphantly. "You're it!" She ran off in another
direction while giggling hysterically.

"Oh, no you don't," he responded, while rubbing his shoulder from where she had
so mercilessly hit him. "I'm gonna get you back!" He chased after her, his
little legs taking him as fast as he could. Far ahead he could see her dark
hair rustling from the wind and he gained speed and was near tagging her back.
To stop her from advancing any further, he jumped forward to tackle her and
they landed in the garden's lake.

They splashed around in the water, their game of tag now becoming a fun
wrestling match. Raye quickly gained the upper hand and dunked Jadeite’s head
under water, and held it there until he finally signaled his surrender.

She giggled and let up on her force. His head shot out of the water and he
gasped for air.

"Wonderful air," he said between gasps. Raye continued to giggle at him and he
cast her a sideways glare. He splashed a bit of water at her in hopes of
shutting her up. Raye looked at him, shocked, and he merely grinned smugly at
her. She countered his splash and did the same to him. They continued on with
their water-splashing match until a voice shouted out at them.

"Raye!" They both looked up to see the King and Queen of Mars watching them
from the shore with slightly amused faces.

"Yes, mother, father," Raye said, as she and her friend stood up, grinning
sheepishly.

"Young ladies do not swim in lakes with their dresses on," her mother told her,
although she couldn't help smiling in spite of herself. It pleased her to see
her daughter engaging in fun times with her friend.

"And you," the King addressed Jadeite, "are supposed to be a gentleman." The
King couldn't help but smile either. *Such innocence* he thought.

The King and Queen of Mars both extended their hands for the children to grasp
onto. "Come, children," the Martian Queen said. "Time to clean up, dinnertime
is nearing." She looked at her daughter before continuing. "And Jadeite must
return home soon afterwards. His mother is waiting him expectantly on Earth."

Raye’s features went crestfallen. "Must he leave already?"

Her father nodded to her solemnly. "Yes dear, but do not worry, you shall see
him again." That was not the entire truth, her parents both knew, but better
not to break her heart now. Jadeite was to begin his training as a future
guard for the Prince of Earth, and Raye was also to begin her training as the
Moon Princess's guard. It would be many years before the two youngsters would
ever meet again.

The King and Queen sat quietly on their thrones as they awaited the escorts
from Earth for Jadeite. The two children were playing in front of them.

"I wish I didn't have to go," Jadeite complained when his escorts arrived.

"I know," agreed Raye. "But you will visit again."

"Of course." The King and Queen cast each other sideways glances. *Innocent,
naive children,* they both thought.

"I almost forgot," Jadeite said quickly. He dug his hands into his pocket and
fished out a necklace with half a star hanging from it.

"What is it?" Raye asked with an excited curiosity.

"It's part of twin, see?" He pulled at a necklace he was wearing which the
other half of the star hung from. He interlocked the two charms together and
an inscription across the smooth gold metal could be read.

"It says 'Always', just like we'll always be friends.," he told her.

Raye smiled warmly at him. "Thank you, that's so sweet." A look of pondering
cascaded across her face. "I have nothing for you," she said sadly.

Her face then lit up as her eyes glanced at the rag doll beside her. It was
made specially to resemble her and it was Raye's favorite doll. "Here you go,"
she said, handing him the doll.

He took the doll and then smiled his thanks, and then bowed good-bye. He then
turned to the Martian King and Queen and bowed to them. They nodded in return.
The two escorts each put a hand on the young boy's shoulder and as Jadeite
waved a final good-bye, he and the escorts disappeared in their teleportation
light.

The King and Queen watched as their daughter sadly said good-by to her best
friend. Raye sighed quietly to herself, and then ran up to her mother.

"Please put it on for me," Raye said, indicating the necklace. Her mother
nodded, and motioned for Raye to turn around so that she could clasp the
necklace. She looked at her husband and smiled sadly.
