Chapter Two: Mercury

Prince Diamond lounged comfortable in his throne,
sipping at his wine and dreaming of Neo-Queen
Serenity. Someday, once 20th Century Tokyo was
conquered and they went back to the future, she would
be his. Her beautiful blue eyes would gaze lovingly
into his as he would whisper sweet nothings in her
ear. They would rule over the universe together, no
one would stand in their way, not even the Wise Man
would be a match for them! Everything would be so
perfect....so perfect......

"Diamond!" Diamond's reverie was interupted by the
harsh bark of his brother. "Diamond," Sapphire
repeated. "The Wise Man's at it again. The Dark
Crystal's energy absorbtion indicator is off the
scale! He's going to kill us all!"

Diamond closed his eyes and groaned. How many times a
day was fate going to make him listen to Sapphire's
wild accusations? It was slowly driving him off the
edge. "Sapphire," he said with as much patience and
tolerance he could muster. "Sapphire, my dear one and
only brother, I'm sure the Wise Man has his reasons
for tapping into the Dark Crystal. Just leave him be
and let him do his work, okay? You tend to your job
and let him tend to his."

"Diamond!" Sapphire protested, but Diamond silenced
him with a wave of his hand.

"Sapphire, I trust the Wise Man. His plans are sound.
If you have a better way to destroy the Scouts, I'm
listening."

Sapphire laughed bitterly. "You really think the Wise
Man cares? He will betray you, Brother. I just hope
you realize that before he kills all of us."

Diamond took a nonchalant sip of his wine. "I hope you
come back to your senses soon. It would be unfortunate
if you were accidently stranded in the past, wouldn't
it?" Sapphire was silent. "That's what I thought."

In the Wise Man's chambers, Sailor Mercury was slowly
being rotated in a cloud of the Dark Crystal's energy,
while the Wise Man looked on......

She had just left Brighton Academy and transferred to
Cross Roads Junior High. Everyone already knew her by
reputation and no one wanted to hang out with her.....

"Yes, that was cruel wasn't it? But it got worse too.
Remember meeting Serena?" the Wise Man asked.

Serena was the ohly one who would talk to her, but
things were still far from better.
"You're so last season, Amy. You study too much.
You're destroying my reputation. I won't hang out with
you unless you change your style."

"What horrible treatment for such a gifted girl. Did
anyone care avout your style? No! They wanted you to
be like them, didn't they? No respect at all! And when
Sailor Mars joined up, everything went even further
downhill, didn't it?"

She had just saved them from that evil void Jedite had
cast them into, but she was getting no thanks.
"Oh, Tuxedo mask, you were so great!" Sailor Moon
cooed. "And Sailor Mars, you're something!"
"Sure am!" Mars agreed.
"Oh, hi, Amy. How's it hangin'?"

"You used your own energy to save their miserable
lives, and how do they thank you? They don't! they
complete sucessful mission after sucessful msission
and congratulate themselves, but they forget the one
element that made it all possible. Without you, the
Sailor Scouts would have been destroyed so long ago!
You're the ideal perosn, but no one cares! Nobody!
They don't respect your individuality! They just want
you to be like them! You're sick of it! You've thought
of revenge, haven't you, Mercury?" she feabily nodded.
"I can help you get it. Would you like my help?"

"I.....fight.....the NegaMoon....."

"Well, I don't blame you. They're bad people. I can
help you get both the NegaMoon and your friends. If
you don't want it, can stay with Serena and Raye!"

Amy's eyes widened with tears as the Wise Man forced
another image into her mind.

They surronded her...they were all
laughing.....Serena, Raye, Darien, Greg....Lita and
Mina were trying to stop them, but they wouldn't
stop...nobody cares....

"Nobody," Wise Man agreed.

They didn't care...

"No one does."

No one cares....no one cares.....no one cares!!

"Nobody cares!" Mercury screamed as she felt herself
spiriling down, out of control. "Nobody!"

Wise Man watched the helpless Scout writhe and twist
in the Dark Crystal's energy. As fun as it was slowly
driving Sailor Mercury insane with false memories, it
had to end. But first, she needed some more proper
attire. The blue Sailor outfit slowly dissolved into a
floor-length aquamarine dress with a slit that went up
to her thigh. The sleeves were made of a transparent,
black, net-like material which ran over her shoulders
and joined at her neck under an aquamarine choker. Her
tiara vanished to reveal the symbol of Mercury, except
before when it had been a light blue, it was now a
solid black. The Dark Crystal released her and gently
set her on the floor. The Wise Man stepped back to
admire his handi-work.
"So much better. That Sailor junk just didn't go with
you at all," Mercury blushed and smiled shyly. Wise
Man offered his hand and she took it. "Come, Lady
Mercury. Let's show you to Prince Diamond and
Sapphire. I'm sure they'll be pleased." Hand in hand,
the two proceeded to the Nemesis royal throne room.
