It Always Gets Worse
Chapter Four: Venus
Chapter Four: Venus
Sailor Venus rocked on her haunches, numb with grief.
"Lita, why did you do that?" she murmered quietly to
herself. "My best friend willingly lets the cowherder
lead her to slaugher." Venus surpressed a sob that
kept threatning to overwhelm her. First Raye quit,
then Amy was turned into a servant of Nemesis, and now
Lita was slowly having her mind erased. The logical
thing to do would be to try to escape and warn,
possibily help, Sailor Moon, but why bother? The two
of them weren't any match for the NegaMoon Family.
Besides, Venus didn't want to leave her friends here,
all alone. Why beat the rush? All had to go sometime,
just a matter of when. She made no objections when the
Wise Man came for her.
"Raye!" Serena pounded at the Temple doors
desperately, hoping Raye wasn't involved in a deep
meditation and could talk. "Raye, please, this is
urgent!"
Chad opened the door a crack. "Oh, hi, Serena. Raye
can't talk, she's--"
Serena shoved the door in his face and bolted in to
Raye's meditation chamber. Raye sat up, startled, in
the middle of one of her prayers. "Oh. It's you."
"Raye, this is really important. I need your help."
"Oh really?" she asked sarcastically. "The all high
and mighty Moon Princess needs the help of a measly
Martian?"
"Raye, please, I'm sorry. I really do need your help,"
Serena begged. "The others...they went to the Dark
Crystal to help Amy....I can't find them! They're
gone!"
"If this is a joke, it's not funny, Serena."
"It's no joke! I think they've been captured!"
"And you expect me to do what....?"
"Read the fire! Try to find out where they are."
Raye blinked. "You're serious, aren't you?"
"Yes! Raye, hurry!" Serena pleaded.
Raye nodded once and turned to the fire, clasping her
hands. "Sacred Flame," she chanted. "Our friends are
missing, probably held against their will. We beg of
you to show us where they are!" her eyes snapped open,
seeking images in the fire. She gasped when the answer
provided itself. "They're in the Dark Crystal!" she
fumbled in her temple robes for her transformation
stick. "C'mon! We gotta help them!"
"You don't have to tell me twice! Moon Crystal Power!"
"Mars Star Power!"
The two transformed and dashed out of the Temple,
ready to render aid to their friends.
"Hello, Venus, how are you this fair day?" Wise Man
inquired as he lead Venus down the corridors of the
Dark Crystal.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked dejectdly.
"You know, it was my understanding you were the happy
one of the group. The Scout of Love and all that," the
Wise Man said, purposely avoiding her question.
Venus mumbled something and trudged on. "Where?"
"To the Dark Crystal. What's wrong? Miss those Sailor
V days?"
That provoked a response. Venus whipped around to face
him, disbelief on her face. "How do you know about
that?!"
"I know much about you, my pretty," she could hear the
grin in his voice. "Now, would you mind stepping into
that vortex of black energy over there?"
"Yes! I would mind!" Venus snapped. "You lied to Lita!
That will not be tolerated! You broke your word and I
will make you pay on behalf of Venus! Venus Meteor
Shower!" The crescent beam split into its multiple
strands and lashed out at the black swirling mass of
energy to no avail.
"Rather un-impressive, Miss Venus. Downright pathectic
if I do say so myself. You're welcome to try again,
though." She turned, prepping herself for another
attack.
"Venus Crescent---!"
"No one ever insulted you when you were Sailor V, did
they?" Wise Man asked, throwing Venus off guard. A
thin ribbon of the energy build-up reached out and
ensnared the distracted Scout's ankle.
Movies, dolls, video games, publicity, fear,
respect...they had been hers, all hers...
The dark energy began to engulf Sailor Venus.
"Then...?" the Wise Man prompted.
Then Sailor Moon comes along. But she's just a
temporary fad, pretty soon the crowds will all come
flocking back to me...
"Did they?"
No.....Sailor V faded into darkness.......
"Remember wanting to meet the Sailor Scouts?" Wise Man
asked. The dark energy finally blanketed Venus
completely.
Meeting the Scouts would be wonderful...she, of
course, would be their leader, due to experience and
they would obliterate the Negaverse back to wherever
it had come from....
"But it wasn't wonderful," Wise Man said, faking
sadness. "Even though you saved their lives, they
didn't care."
All she got for her troubles was a dirty look from
Malachite and an exasperated sigh from Sailor Moon. No
"thank yous", just a blunt statement about a temple
meeting. No directions on how to get there, either!
"What happened after you joined the Scouts?"
Even though she was perfect choice for leader, she was
just a little blonde nobody. The irrelevant fifth
Scout. No one of concern.
"You've just been a nobody for a while. You used to be
the gorgeous and respected Sailor V/Venus, but
now....you're just the fifth Scout. And you have to
work under the one that took everything away from you!
Beautiful Mina, I can give you a chance for revenge.
Do you want it?"
Revenge....on Sailor Moon....she took my fans, my
spotlight, my RESPECT...everything that I treasured,
taken away by that dumb ditz! She's going to pay!!
The Dark Crystal's energy contracted around Venus,
rippling with the effects of her transformation. When
it was over, Lady Venus stood in her place, clad in a
tight orange dress with flared sleeves and a
dangerously cut top. Her tiara was also missing,
replaced by the blackened symbol of Venus. Oddly
enough, she also seemed to have a pair of sunglasses
in her hair.
"Not bad, if I say so," the Wise Man said, admiring
his work.
"Lady Venus, at your service," she said with a bow. "I
look forward to murder and mayhem."
Wise Man nodded approvingly.
