It Always Gets Worse
Chapter Eight: Battle
Chapter Eight: Battle
"Well, well, well, look who decided to drop by!" Mars
turned at the sound of the surly voice to see a
massive platform stretched out infront of her, her
three former friends standing infront of her, still in
their ridiculous attire. "We don't want any cookies,"
Lady Mercury said with such a snide tone that Mars
wanted to slap her.
"Still trying to triumph?" Lady Jupiter mocked. "You
do realize you'll fail."
Mars clenched her fist and her eyes widened as she
realized there was still something in it. She looked
down in surprise to see Serena's locket, still in her
hand. She debated with herself for a minute before
slowly pinning it onto her front bow. "You're wrong,
Lita," she answered, not looking up. "You're the one
who'll eventually fail. You may have managed to kill
Sailor Moon, you may manage to kill me, but there will
be others. There's always someone else. But I refuse
to let them have their chance. On behalf of the planet
Mars," her head shot up, eyes ablaze. "You're
punished!"
The trio looked unimpressed. "That's nice, dear," said
Lady Venus. "Now, we want to open the Dark Gate. But
you're more than welcome to try and stop us, if you
want."
Mars didn't care if they were mocking her. They were
giving her a chance, and she would take it.
"Mars Cellestial Fire Surrond!" Rings of fire shot at
the three enemies, who barely managed to get out the
way in time. Realizing that Sailor Mars was serious,
they decided to retaliate.
"Mercury Icestar!" Lady Mercury, now shifting into her
Black Mercury motif, put her hands together as if she
were doing her bubble routine. But instead of a
bubble, a small, crystalline star formed, and
multiplied into thousands of duplicates when she flung
them at Mars, who was not able to dodge all of them.
"That's all you got?" Mars snapped, ignoring the
stinging cuts in her arms and legs.
Lady Jupiter, now Black Jupiter, narrowed her eyes. "I
wouldn't be so cocky, if I were you. We destroyed
Sailor Moon. You can't be that much harder."
Mars crossed her arms infront of her chest, forming
and X, refusing to be itimidated. "Shut up and fight."
The trio obligied.
A ball of lighting flew towards her, only to be
detonated by a fire bird. Icestars were melted by
fireballs, the small flying black hearts sliced apart
by fire rings. Black Jupiter tried for a physical
attack, but had to abandon it in order to avoid being
incinerated. A flurry of ofudas, some combined with
flame, struck out, but the Black Scouts managed to
destroy or dodge every last one. And then, the trio
decided to combine attacks.
An ice crystal encased in lightning, surronded by a
flurry of hearts came racing towards her. Mars gave
her best shot at it, but it couldn't be prematurely
detonated. The hearts cut into her flesh as
electricity flowed through her while the ice crystal
impaled itself into her shoulder. Sailor Mars screamed
even after the attacks had faded, before collasping in
a heap, blood seeping out around her. The last thing
she heard was her former friends' demented laughter.
I'm sorry....Serena......
. She had to hurry. The one who could restore
everything was about to be killed, which would forever
ruin any chances of repairing the damage. But how
could she get her away? She couldn't leave the Time
Gate. Silently praying, she willed a small event to
occur.......
Raye felt herself falling. Her life spiraled around
her as she plunged down. Papa......she had looked up
to him for so long, but he just didn't
care.........living with Grandpa.........the strange
blonde with meatballs attached to her head.......that
talking cat with her transformation
stick...........Darien and how it was never meant to
be......Chad...........Serenity.......
A small clatter awoke Raye from her tumble and
flashbacks. With great effort, she cracked open her
eyes to see her friends gathered in a small circle,
drawing great amounts of power into their bodies.
Surely they wouldn't survive that much power, so
quickly! Her eyes moved downward and there she
saw......a key? A small key was right infront of her,
an exact duplicate of Rini's time key. Ignoring the
pain in her shoulder, Raye managed to reached out and
grasp it with her finger tips, before falling
unconscience once more. A brief mist encircled her,
and she was gone.
The trio had managed to open the Dark Gate. An
enormous flood of Dark Energy flew out, immediatly
killing them, and proceeding on with destroying the
Earth.
