Images of Versailles
 
 
I scanned these two wonderful pictures from a book, published in the Sixties, on The Sun King, Louis XIV. 

Even if they do not depict Versailles during Louis XVI's reign, approximately 70 years after the Sun King's reign, privileged noblemen and women used to live at Versailles Palace walk in their frivolous way in the gardens. Therefore, these two images give an excellent opportunity to relive and imagine the aristocratic life in Versailles under the monarchs.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Even if this picture does not give a full view of the Palace, it clearly shows that many people used to be at Versailles, enjoying its splendour and giving it life.

I imagine how desolate the place looked during the decline of Louis and Antoinette's reign!
