CHAPTER 2
Minako and the others were in the ice cream parlor. They were listening to Usagi
gushing about her marriage for the fifty something time. Rei gritted her teeth, how
she longed to shut that girl up, except the restraining hand of Ami told her to
wisely keep her mouth shut. Just as she was about to scream in frustration, something
pulled her attention to the parlor entrance. Two girls, identical in stature, if not
in looks entered, one had hair the color of midnight whereas the other had a fury
mane. Both had exceptional beauty. The dark hair one smiled and much to Rei's
surprise walked towards their table with her companion lagging behind.
"Usagi, we meet again." Rei raised her eyebrows, so Usagi did have some
sophisticated friends.
"Umm, you are..?"
"Adelaide, we met last week in the park, remember?" said the stranger, Adelaide,
as her companion rolled her eyes heavenwards. Rei looked at the others and noticed
their expression and nearly laughed. Usagi was well known for her short memory,
especially recently.
"Oh, yeah, we did meet. I remember talking to you but..."
"By the way, I would like you to meet my friend, Mika." interrupted Adelaide. Rei
cut off Usagi's reply.
"Nice to meet the both of you. I'm Rei Hino." The others also followed her cue.
Soon they were all chattering as if they had known each other for a long time.

Two days later, Rei stopped by the Tomoe mansion for a short chat with Setsuna.
For some reasons, Adelaide and Mika came into their conversation. Haruka and Michiru
were laughing when Rei told them of Usagi's short memory. However, Hotaru noticed a
faint unease pass over Setsuna when Rei described them.
When Rei had left, Hotaru finally blurted out her question.
"Do you know these two new friends of Usagi, Setsuna Mama?"
"Who..so you've noticed, little one. No, I don't. But they reminded me of a certain
legend Queen Serenity told me after I was appointed the Guardian of Time. It was
about two sorceresses. Legend has it that they were thrown into a deep sleep
after a battle with the Vortex."
"What is the Vortex? We've never heard of it."
"Queen Serenity only had time to tell me before the revolution of Belle. She died
before telling you and Michiru, Haruka. The Vortex was reputed to be a black hole,
which sucks in some star seed to fill them with evil. Chaos was said to be created from
there."
"Would the Adelaide and Mika be those two sorceress?"
"No, it's too much of a coincidence, little one. I don't think we'd be that lucky."
