After his mother died when he was very young and with his father being always away for work, Yanagiba Masahiko has lived almost always on his own.
Recently his father died in a traffic accident.
He is doing fairly well, passing his university entrance exams but something seems to be missing and he longs for a family life.
His parents, long ago, have broken all connections with the brother of his mother, his uncle.
As a result, he is very surprised to be visited by his aunt, Wakanae Yukari, who carries a striking resemblance with his mother; so much that he mistakes her for his dead mother a second.
She invites him to celebrate her daughter's 16th birthday but he makes up a story that he is busy. She leaves her address in case he changes his mind, which he does rather quickly. On the way to his aunt's house, he spots a pretty girl and asks her if she, by chance, knows the Wakanae residence.
She offers to show him if he gives her a ride on his bike. By the time they arrive at his family's house, his imagination has led him to believe that the only reason that his parents would have broken off all relations with his aunt and uncle must be that they are involved in the Yakuza.
The girl gets impatient with him and rings the doorbell. When the door opens, shots ring out.
The shots turn out to be party favors and the girl who showed him the way turns out to be his pretty cousin, Wakanae Shion.
His uncle, Wakanae Sora, a successful mangaka who has his studio in his home, invites him to come live with them.
Before long Masahiko discovers
that his aunt and uncle are a bit different; and Shion,
is she really who she appears to be?
