Goku

Goku is obviously the star of Dragon Ball Z who is pure at heart and has many friends. Goku has a strong personality which influences a lot of people through out the show. In Dragon Ball Z Goku marries the young women named Chi-Chi who made her first apearance in the original Dragon Ball as the daughter of the Ox King. Goku has 2 sons, the oldest named Gohan and the younger named Goten. Goku is the first to reach super sayan after the death of his best friend Krilin while fighting the crazed villin Freezer. At the end of Dragon Ball Z Goku gets wished back to when we first saw him as a child.

Gohan

Gohan is the first child of Chi-Chi and Goku who proves to be small, yet very strong. In the earlier years of his life, he is constantly nagged by Chi-Chi to study hard and do his chores, Chi-Chi was very strict with him in the way that she would never let him train or go fight. Gohan is forced to go train with Piccolo where he must learn to live in the wild by him self, but Piccolo is there keeping an eye on him and helps him out a bit in that rough part in his life. Gohan gradually gets older and becomes an adult where he becomes a "super hero" of his town with Videl. Gohan has a daughter with Videl named Pan.

Goten

Goten is Goku's youngest son who only comes into the show after the Cell saga. Goten is a typical child who likes to fool around and have fun. Unlike with Gohan, Chi-chi wasn't as strict with him probably because she simply gave up and let him go train and fight. Although he doesn't like training that much he loves to fight and sees it as a big game no matter who he is fighting.Trunks is his best friend and they later on learn how to fuse and form Gotenks. Goten reached super sayan at the young age of 8. Goten is my favorite character because he is funny and cute but at the same time can fight very well.
