City Square

Welcome to the middle of the sleepy (yeah, right), humble mountain city of

Midgaard. The peaks that surround the somewhat smallish sprawl of

constructions about you appear a vibrant, cool purple at this distance..capped

with off-white snow at the tops. Although the town itself recieves little

precipitation from being sheltered by this atol of sheer rock, a cold wind does

comb and filter its way through..providing a brisk, though arid, atmosphere.

On the southwestern pointing end of town, a small, manmade pass in the

mountain valley allows for easy access from the bustling world outside. To

your north and west are the commercial districts..manufacturing, shipping, and

selling various consumable goods. In the east, to the 'horizon', appear to be

homes of various architectural influences..the more wealthy of said houses

bordering a small alpine lake and park. To the south, the middle-class homes

continue, thinning out just before the open gap to the highway beyond.

As for where you stand..it is the Midgaard City Square..Several government

offices and the larger buildings can be found on the sides of the slightly

misnomered elliptical, cobblestoned intersection. No actual automobile traffic

passes here, being routed through the side streets..this is a strictly

pedestrian and bicycle zone. A large, granite fountain with a statue of Odin

atop it towers nearly two stories prominantly in the center. There are also

benches about for taking a quiet repose from the hustle of daily life.

>Lyrae is sitting lightly on a bench, her thoughts elsewhere.

>Magus isn't even bothering with disguise now. He walks up behind Lyrae silently.

>Lyrae blinks, suddenly turning around on her bench, "You.." She blurts, clearly

not expecting to see anyone approaching.

>Magus says, in his oh-so-disturbing voice, "Good afternoon, madam."

>Lyrae quietly says, "..Good afternoon.."

>Lyrae . o O ( I should've stayed back at the house.. but at least it isn't

Esmerelda or Kataki showing up..or ..Gah,.. one of the others.. )

>Magus stands behind Lyrae, making her turn to look at him, if she cares to. His

cloak flows slowly in the breeze. "We haven't spoken in a long time, if I am

not mistaken."

>Lyrae shifts her posture on the bench to sit lengthwise so she doesn't have to

crane her neck back..just up a bit to look at him. "That's true, it has been a

while." she manages after a bit..then adds, "Life looks to be treating you

well."

>Magus says, in a deep voice, "I sincerely doubt it is treating me better than

it is treating you..."

>Lyrae blinks slightly o O ( Does he know ...? ) she gives Magus a more careful

look, "I'm getting by well enough.." o O ( ..without my friends, but at least

we're all still alive. )

>Magus says, in a deep voice, "You lie poorly. It doesn't suit you."

>Lyrae blinks slightly, ~.~; "Everyone seems to be saying that.." o O ( ..Jeez I

didn't think I was -THAT- bad a liar. )

>Magus says, in a deep voice, "You also stink of that Esmerelda, as well as

others..."

>Lyrae quietly says, "Stink of her?" She snorts softly, "That's..one way of

putting it."

>Magus meant it quite literally... but that's a different matter. "Perhaps... it

would be in your best interest to talk about why you are dealing with her?"

>Lyrae quietly says, "I'm not." She replies simply, honestly. "Thankfully, she

seems to have lost her interest in me. That's fine by me."

>Magus asks, "You should know her better than that by now... she has plans, but

the question is, what do her plans entail?"

>Lyrae quietly says, "Last I heard she was making plans to create super soldiers

at the lab at Sensou."

>Magus says, in a deep voice, "I see... that could be most dangerous if the plan

continues."

>Lyrae quietly says, "Tell me something I /don't/ know *sigh*.."

>Magus adds, quite unusually, "My prior offer still stands."

>Lyrae blinks, "Prior offer?" she looks clueless, then sheepish "Which was...?"

>Magus elaborates. "An alliance. Mutual protection. You are a talented lady

after all... perhaps some training might be of use?"

>Lyrae quietly says, "Training? What could I do? I'm a musician, not a fighter.."

>Magus reaches down to caress Lyrae's chin... "You have mystic potential... you

have already manifested a power, I can see it."

>Lyrae blinks, squeaking a bit tensely, her eyes widening slightly, "O..Oh.." Is

all she manages.

>Magus withdraws his hand. This is going exactly as he planned... "Consider my

offer then?"

>Lyrae lets out an inaudible sigh. o O ( ..I've already lost half of what I had.

) She closes her eyes briefly, and opens them. o O ( What more have I got to

lose. ) "All right, ..sounds fair I ..think."

>Magus says, in a deep voice, "Excellent. I will see you tonight then...

remember, Esmerelda's strengths are her minions... ally yourself with others,

and you will be safe"

>Lyrae . o O ( I wonder what he's talking about .. the empathy or the other..? )

>Magus steps back. He takes a moment to survey the surroundings, then chants - a

second later a dark portal opens behind the wizard, and he simply steps back

into it, with both him and the portal disappearing after.
