Elemental Soldier Neko

A pretty catgirl wrapped up in a dangerous tail...err tale.

Episode Three ~ Chapter Three

BekkaNeko woke, and in seconds, was running around the room in a panic. It wasn't until she was half-dressed that she realized that today was Sunday. She wasn't late for school after all. That would be tomorrow morning. She quietly got undressed again and curled up in the sunbeam that was falling through the window onto her bed. Across the room, ReaNeko meowed, then began to purr. BekkaNeko dozed off to sleep again.

When she awoke again, it was nearly noon and her littermate was gone. She got dressed again, wearing just a pair of black jeans and a black T-shirt with Fenwick University's FU! logo in bright yellow. She decided to wear sandals for now, and headed downstairs.

"Good morning sleepyhead," her mother said as she bounced into the kitchen. Naoko was a catgirl like her daughters, with short pink hair in a pixie cut. She wore jeans and gray shirt with a white apron over them. Her face and apron were dusted with flour and a few drips of something marred the whiteness of the apron.

"Chocolate chip cookies for dessert tonight."

BekkaNeko purred as she warmed a bowl of miso soup. "Sounds good Mom. Where's everyone else?"

"Your sister went to the mall, saying something about a date tonight, and Dad's outside, changing the oil in his car. What are you up to today?" She slipped a full sheet of cookies out of the oven and started putting them on cooling racks with a metal spatula.

"I was thinking of going to the library, but you just reminded me, we have that double date tonight with the Curtis brothers. I should get a new shirt tonight. I know what skirt I want to wear, and I saw a top that would go perfectly with it, can I have some money, Mom? Please?" BekkaNeko stuck out her lower lip a little and batted her eyelashes at her mother.

"That face might work on your father, but you should know by now that it don't faze me," Naoko grinned. "I guess I can give you a little bit though. The Curtis brothers are nice boys. Where are you going tonight?"

BekkaNeko ate a few spoonfuls of her soup. "I think we're gonna go to the movies. There's a new Eros Hentai movie that opened last night."

Naoko shook her head. "Those movies are all the same, a lot of sword fights and he always ends up getting at least two or three different girls by the end of each one. Only the first one had anything in it resembling the historical story."

"I know Mom, but they are fun to watch. Don't tell me you wouldn't want Dad to be so handsome and dashing." She giggled imagining her human father as an elven bard rescuing damsels in distress and fencing with hoards of bandits and goblins.

Her mother grinned, "I wouldn't mind it. He used to be like that when we met, but he's so busy working to take care of us now..." her voice trailed off. "Alright, you can take twenty marks from my purse and go get that top you want. Be careful and don't be gone too long, I want you to get your homework done before you go out tonight."
BekkaNeko nodded, and went to get the money from her mother's purse. She decided that she could manage the bus fare on her own and only took fifteen of the small gold coins. She dropped them into the coin pocket of her own small purse and headed out to catch the bus to the mall. The ride was short and uneventful. She spent the trip making faces at a small elf boy who would giggle and make a face back.

At the mall BekkaNeko took a moment to look at all the people around her. Most of them were human of course, but here and there she spotted the pointy ears of an elf, or the tail of a catgirl. Getting her bearings from the smells of the food court, she quickly threaded her way through the crowds to find the store that had the shirt she was looking for. She picked it up and took it to the fitting rooms. It fit perfectly, so she took it up to the counter and bought it.

BekkaNeko headed back towards the food court, looking to find her sister. As she passed a pet shop someone feel into step beside her. "I said I'd find you again little kitty."

The catgirl whipped her head to the side. Walking along next to her was a tall human woman dressed all in black with long dark red hair. The woman smiled, showing a pair of sharp fangs and her dark eyes flashed red. "You didn't think you could hide for very long did you?" BekkaNeko's eyes went wide as she realized who was talking to her.

"Don't panic," the demoness said. "You wouldn't want to cause a scene in here. Besides, I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to talk. Shall we get something to drink and sit down?"

BekkaNeko sat at one of the tables in the corner of the food court. The demoness gestured and a pair of sodas appeared on the table. The catgirl looked at the drinks skeptically. It smelled normal, but she didn't trust it, even though the demoness was drinking heartily. "What do you want with me?" she asked. Her tail lashed nervously.

"Call me Lily. Nothing really. I don't want you to do anything. I know that old man was trying to tell you that I'm evil and that when we bring Oni-sama back, that he's going to destroy the world." The demoness smiled sweetly. "I'll bet he didn't tell you why my Lord has to destory the world."

"But Oni-sama is evil."

Lily chuckled. "Of course he is, and Kami-sama is virtuous. Oni-sama is going to remake the world. But first, he has to destroy this one. Don't worry, everyone will be reborn in the new world, they won't even notice. And if you think that's evil, just think about this: when Kami-sama built this world, what did he destroy to make room for it?"

"There was nothing when Kami-sama made the world..."

"My point exactly! He destroyed everything that Oni-sama had made and replaced it with his own. They've been taking turns building and destroying worlds. I've lost count of how many times it's happened." Lily began counting off on her fingers.

"Some of them have been quiet interesting. Have you ever breathed water? Living in the sea took some getting used to... But I digress. All I want from you is stay out of our way. What do you say to that? I can make arrangements for you to be born as a queen in the next world." She smiled again.

"No! I won't let you do it! My sister and I are going to fight you at every turn!" BekkaNeko slapped her hands over her mouth.

"Your sister? How interesting. Maybe she would be willing to listen to reason." The demoness pressed her finger to her lips, pondering. "I'm sorry you won't cooperate. I guess this means that I'll have to kill next time we meet. That's too bad, you're rather pretty." She reached out and ran her finger along BekkaNeko's jawline. "Maybe you'll be mine in the next world."

Lily stood up and leaned over the stunned catgirl. "Just remember what I said. I will destroy you if you try to fight us. Don't think that your old man will be around to save you every time either." She patted BekkaNeko's cheek and disappeared into the swirling crowd.

BekkaNeko shivered and tried to spot the departing demoness. As she looked around, she noticed an elf watching her. He wasn't smiling. She recognized him instantly. He was the scary one from the museum. He sipped from his large cup of coffee and stood up. When his did, his untucked, unbuttoned shirt fell open, and she noticed the butt of a pistol sticking out of the waist band of his jeans.

"Littermate!" some squealed and BekkaNeko looked up in time to see ReaNeko plop into the seat opposite her. "What are you doing here?"

BekkaNeko shook her head to clear it. "Mom gave me some money to come get a shirt for tonight." She lifted her bag as evidence. Her sister had three bags sitting at her feet. "What did you get?"

"A skirt, a new shirt, some shoes, and this collar." She pulling out the items and showing them off. The skirt was black leather, as were the shoes and collar. "What do you think?" she said, putting the collar on her neck. The little golden bell tinkled.

BekkaNeko eyes the leopard print shirt with its plunging neckline. "I don't think Dad's going to like that one. Especially if you wear it tonight. You know how overprotective he can get when it comes to boys."

"Speaking of which, who were you staring at so intently?" ReaNeko twitched her tail and batted her eyes at her sister.
"Well, you remember that guy at the museum? Well, he was just sitting over there, staring at me? I'm not sure where he disappeared to thought." BekkaNeko looked at the table, then noticed that the sodas Lily had summoned were gone. "He wasn't the only one here."

ReaNeko looked at her sister. "Who else?" Her ears perked forward.

"Well, you remember that demon girl I told you about the other day? She was here too," BekkaNeko said quietly.

"What?" ReaNeko's ears flattened against her light brown hair. She looked around wildly. "Where is she?"

BekkaNeko put her hand on top of her sister's. "It's ok. She's gone now. She says she's gonna try convincing you to join her though. She said that we shouldn't interfere, and if we do, she's going to destroy us."

ReaNeko growled. "Well, she's welcome to try. She's not going to ruin our date tonight though. Come on, lets go home, we've only got a few hours until they come to pick us up." BekkaNeko looked at her watch. It was about two o'clock. The Curtis brothers were due to pick them up around five. She wasn't sure she felt like dinner and a movie now.

"Girls! Your dates are here!" Naoko shouted up the stairs. She could hear them scamper around, finishing getting ready. She looked over at her husband. Cecil was still wearing the stained shirt he'd had own while working on the car. It had been a plain white T-shirt, but it was now smeared and smudged with grease and grime. It was a little small on him, but being tight it showed off his solid build rather well. "Don't you try to scare these boys, dear," she said.

"As you wish," he grinned at her and ran his fingers through his dark hair. He opened the door before the boys could ring the bell, and let them in. They introduced themselves as Brad and Steve. He shook their hands, stopping just short of crushing their fingers. They called him "sir" in the few dawdling sentences they exchanged before the sisters bounded down the stairs and dragged the boys outside.

"Did you see what ReaNeko was wearing?" he asked, watching out the window as the two couples climbed into the brothers' blue convertible. "I noticed she didn't let me see it before they got here."

Naoko started scratching his back. He smelled slightly sweaty. "Don't you remember that I would wear things like that when we were dating?"

"That was different..." he started to protest, turning around.

"No it wasn't, and you know it." She swatted his chest. "Maybe if you go get cleaned up, we could go out on a date ourselves." She winked at him.

"As you wish," he said, smiling. He kissed her for a moment, then trotted up the stairs. She grinned to herself, then followed him as she heard the shower water turning on.
