When Tenchi released her from the shrine, It was not the first time she had met him. Ryoko's astral body (a projection of her real body) has been watching Tenchi ever since he was a baby. She fell in love with him and always wished to be with him. That pesky, self-conscious princess always gets in the way, though. Too bad that Ryoko's determination usually drives Tenchi away...  

Washu created Ryoko by combining DNA from the Mass with her own ovary, so she is more like Ryoko's mother than creator. Kagato, Washu's student, stole Ryoko and used her to attack Jurai. So, Ryoko isn't so bad after all. The 101 Tenchi Muyo! Facts say that if Ryoko had all of her jewels, she would be as powerful as Tsunami. 

We soon learn of Ryoko's habit of lying when she turns out to be the true Space Pirate! Throughout the series you will learn that Ryoko and Ayeka have a past together. You will find yourself torn between the two as they share their childhood memories, making the other look like the bad guy. It is hard to decide which one is telling the truth! Ryoko and Ayeka make an interesting combo as they continuously fight for Tenchi's affection. Ryoko is our aggressive, sex crazed character who often makes you blush with her comments. Although she is focused on winning Tenchi's heart, she still has her past to creep up and create more adventures for the Tenchi gang.  
  
Ryouko's voice actor for the Japanese OAV is Orikasa Ai, and for the English dub is Petrea Burchard (aka Celeste Burch)
