RG had had better days. Much better days. While he was immortal, he was disgusted to find out that his own methods of restoring his body didn't work, thus he had to heal at the normal rate of a standard human. He had also been surprised at the fact that M. Bison was a lot stronger than he had originally suspected. RG had received a good number of broken bones and bruises from the crimelord of Shadowloo. However, Bison had gotten as good as he gave. The megamaniacal tyrant had expected to get away scotfree, but RG was a veteran of fighting as well.
Nevertheless, RG was up and about, using his ki to float his wheelchair over the floor, impressing passersby, but not the hospital staff, as he headed for the nearest elevator, Angel in tow.
"Stop doing that." one angry nurse scolded him.
"No. My spirit is fine, my body is the one that's bandaged up." RG responded.
"What if someone surprises you?" the nurse asked.
"My spirit isn't so easily distracted." RG answered, before smacking his head against the wall above the elevator.
"Oh?" the nurse inquired.
"Not a word, not a goddamn word." RG hissed, lowering his wheelchair and shakily landing it inside the elevator.
Angel snickered as she entered the elevator and pressed the button for the lobby.
The Variable Geo Tournament hall. Many battles in VG history had taken place in the hall. It was a lot easier to find the hall and meet an opponent there than to try and find a VG ring. Or at least, that was the case up to several years ago. The hall had remained a meeting point, but most of the battles fought in it at present day were those to decide the finals in the VG tournament. Today, however, the crowd was gathered in confusion. No one knew what was going to happen.
In the ring stood six of VG's finest, Reimi, Satomi, Yuka, Yuki, Jun, all of whom had yet to be removed from the finals, and Mariko Asamiya, the first VG champion in VG history. The six women were standing on the outskirts of the fighting ring. The crowd's confusion grew as various people who recalled the original VG champ also recalled that she had supposedly passed away.
Finally, as the unease began to grow, Yuka walked to the center of the ring.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, everyone, please listen. We have an announcement." Yuka's voice called out, quieting everyone almost instantly.
Mariko approached the center of the ring.
"Due to a number of various incidents and under the advisement of both the government and numerous law enforcement agencies, the Variable Geo tournament is now closed indefinitely." Mariko announced.
The crowd erupted with angry shouts and confused cries, but were cut short as the ground shook beneath the entire audience, sending everyone back to their seats. Jun, who had generously provided the shockwave, responded to crowd's sentiment, "Do you think we want to close this tournament? Everyone here would like to keep this tournament open, but this is currently above our heads. This tournament is closed, but once things have been sorted out, it'll start up again. GOT IT?!"
"This isn't the end of the VG tournament. The finals will commence now, however, the stripping rules will be suspended." Satomi finished.
There was a mild murmur of disapprovement, but the crowd settled in for a nice night of watching people beat up other people.
"First match, Jun versus Yuki." Witless Minion #6 announced.
As the rest of the fighters cleared the ring, the match began. Jun leapt forward, launching a punch at Yuki, who slid backwards and to the left, gripping Jun's arm and flipping the tall woman. Jun landed on her back painfully. Yuki would've gloated if Jun hadn't swept her feet out from underneath her.
Both got up and launched a barrage of punches and kicks, dodging and blocking the other's attacks as best as they could. However, the two were either two well-matched or their advantages counteracted their opponent's perfectly. Finally, the two were forced to separate as neither was gaining the upper hand.
[She's too slippery to keep in any of my holds and I need her to leave herself open to set up my Kubota Crack.] Jun fumed.
[Jun's good. Save for my opening throw, I haven't landed a solid blow yet. All of my attacks have just glanced or were blocked.] Yuki thought.
Both then came to the same conclusion, [Only way to win this is with my energy attacks.] Energy flared up around both women, a blood red aura surrounding Yuki and a emerald aura surrounding Jun. Simultaneously, they unleashed their most powerful energy attacks.
The lightning met the fireball and the two attacks battled for dominance briefly before absorbing each other and exploding. Jun, however, wasn't expecting Yuki to leap through the brunt of the explosion with another attack ready.
"WOLF'S TYPHOON!" Yuki roared, a tornado surrounding her and Jun.
All Jun could do was block as best as she could. The typhoon allowed Yuki to mercilessly attack without worrying about counter-attack. If the vortex didn't screw up her aim, the sheer speed that Yuki was moving at made it difficult to lock onto her position. And the attack cut off before Jun could get used to it.
Jun landed, more angry than hurt, while Yuki landed, almost completely exhuasted. Yuki put up no resistance as the wrestler grabbed her and performed a Kubota Crack.
"The winner, Jun Kubota! Up next, Reimi versus Yuka!" Witless Minion #6 declared.
Jun hefted the smaller girl and carried her out of the ring.
"You know, if you hadn't blocked as well as you did, she would've been able to defeat you." Mariko noted, taking Yuki from Jun.
"Yeah, but she forgot that I was still defending from the blast. If she had caught me off-guard, she could've done it." Jun responded.
"She just needs more training." Mariko replied, setting Yuki down on the bench.
"You know, it's kinda weird seeing you two together. I mean, you look more like her big sister than her mom." Jun noted.
"I suppose I do." Mariko answered.
Yuka and Reimi stood at the opposite sides of the ring.
"Well, well. Who would've thought we'd meet in the ring after all this?" Reimi inquired.
Reimi charged, kicking viciously. Yuka dodged and answered with a spinning backfist which Reimi blocked.
"I should let you know right now that I'm already planning on seeing someone else, Reimi." Yuka answered.
"It breaks my heart, but I think I can live with that." Reimi responded, smiling as she unleashed a barrage of energy roses.
"Besides, what would Kaori think if you started cheating on her?" Yuka asked, dodging.
Reimi just continued to smile. Yuka gathered her power in her fist and charged Reimi, leaping out of the way as Reimi unleashed her strongest energy attack, a vertical line of lightning, and blasted Reimi from close range.
Reimi blocked with her energy barrier, but could only raise her arms in surprise as Yuka's blast penetrated the shield. The very shield that had kept so many VG fighters from getting any attacks, energy or physical, through. Reimi was sent reeling.
[My barrier hasn't been broken by anyone but mother...and that one attack by Saki. How could she have improved so much in one year?!] Reimi wondered as she struggled to her feet.
Reimi started laughing, something that startled Yuka.
"What's so funny?" Yuka asked.
"This is the first time someone else in VG has forced me to go full-out. Only mother has ever forced me to use my full power. Even Kaori only saw half of my true strength." Reimi responded, a soft aura beginning to surround her.
Yuka barely had time to dodge as Reimi unleashed an energy wave at her. Yuka leapt over the energy wave and unleashed her own energy blast, which was easily stopped by Reimi's rose barrier. Yuka landed and flung herself away from her landing spot as seventy rose-shaped blasts pelted the area she had just been in.
[Reimi's too fast! I can't stop and build up the energy I'm going to need to break her barrier, so I'll have to try and build it on the fly.] Yuka mentally calculated as she tossed a short energy burst against Reimi's barrier.
Reimi's smile returned as Yuka dodged all of the rose-shaped blasts and lightning attacks that the Jahana CEO sent her way. Yuka began to focus all of her power into her fist, focusing her all into one all-or-nothing blast. However, once she was ready to use it, she found Reimi had created a second and third barrier with roses.
"You can't reach me without running through my garden and you know that I could disperse enough of the attack that nothing would even reach me if you threw it now. And even if you get through physically, will you be strong enough to break my barrier?" Reimi asked.
Reimi smirked. There was no way in hell anyone could get close enough to break her barrier unless- The energy in Yuka's fist vanished and Yuka smiled right back. Reimi's smirk faded as she realized what Yuka was about to do. If one couldn't get to the barrier physically, one got to the barrier another way. Just teleporting the energy past the roses wouldn't do much, but her barrier didn't protect her as much from the below...
Reimi barely raised her arms in self defense as the energy blast exploded from the floor and smashed her in the chest. All of her energy creations faded as did her focus as the blast sent her flying up into the ceiling.
"There will be a brief break as Yuka and Jun recover before the semi-final match. Please feel free to visit the snack bar." Witless Minion #6 informed the audience.
As a quarter of the audience left to do as Witless Minion #6 had told them to do, Mariko sighed and leaned against a wall to reflect on how different the world she remembered was. The concept of stripping a fighter after she had lost had been Miranda's idea, and as both the champion of the tournament and the main producer, she had been able to push it through. Mariko was disgusted to find out that the rule had persisted. Before her thoughts could continue, a voice interupted her thoughts, "Hey, Mariko, long time no see."
Mariko turned to see RG and Angel. RG's chair was still hovering so that his head remained at the same level it would've been at had he been able to stand.
"Hey, RG. Who's that with you?" Mariko inquired.
"Angel. She's the fourth." RG finished.
Angel waved politely.
"Where's that old fart? He sprain an ankle or something?" Mariko asked.
"Nah, he just retired. I'm in command now." RG answered.
"Moving up in the world. You didn't seem like that motivated to do so before." Mariko noted.
"I hate to say this, considering obvious circumstances, but that was a while ago. I've been changing my attitude for a while now. Gotta get used to healing like normal among a lot of other stuff." RG answered.
Mariko sweatdropped.
"Healing like normal?" Mariko asked.
"It's a long story. You're still young, you have a lot of relearning to do and I don't wamt to fill you in on nonsense that's just rot your brain." RG answered.
"Whatever floats yer boat." Mariko answered.
"Will everyone please return to their seats, the Yuka versus Jun match is about to begin." Witless Minion #6 announced.
"'This should be a good fight, both men work for Don King.'" RG declared.
"I forget, is that Naked Gun?" Mariko inquired.
"Can't remember." RG answered.
Mariko rolled her eyes.
Jun sighed. It was going to hard to fight Yuka a second time. It was difficult to fight someone while also imagining them naked and in the middle of an orgasm. Of course, it was also hard to do a speech to a group while visualizing the same imagery, so she was actually having an easier time than a public speaker would have. She had secretly hoped that one of them would have been eliminated from the tournament, but it seemed that something had been planning on having them fight. As the two faced off in the ring, Jun found herself unable to meet Yuka's eyes.
"Jun?" Yuka asked.
Jun's head raised.
"My eyes are up here." Yuka told her.
Jun's face turned red.
"Uh, I didn't mean to, I mean, I like them, but Iwatermelondolphinbetapanties-funwheeltangerine!" Jun blurted.
"Huh?!" Yuka asked.
Jun sighed and collected her thoughts.
"I don't think I can really fight you, Yuka..." Jun replied.
"Oh?" Yuka inquired.
"I mean....." Jun began.
"Tell you what, if you fight your best, I'll take you out to dinner. No matter which one of us wins. How about that?" Yuka inquired.
Jun ran the solution through her brain, which came back with an answer of "trout". Confused, she ran the solution through again, only to get the response "phone". Once more got her the simultaneous answers of "Tokyo Tower" and "Destiny". So, she checked with her libido. It answered gibberish about "Yuri", "fanfiction", and "shoujo ai". Finally, she asked her stomach what to do. It liked the idea of dinner. Her bladder begged for anything but Thai.
"Okay!" Jun answered.
Yuka rushed Jun and punched at the wrestler, who grabbed Yuka's fist and threw her before the brown-haired fighter could counter. Yuka laid dazed on the ground for a few seconds, then forced herself to her feet.
"Not bad, Jun." Yuka complimented her.
Jun's eyes went starry, "You mean it?"
Yuka's right eye twitched, "Please focus on the fight."
"Right!" Jun answered, charging Yuka.
[Sorry, Jun, but I gotta save most of my strength for my fight with Satomi.] Yuka thought apologetically.
Jun tried to screech to a halt as she caught sight of Yuka's glowing fist, but it was far too late. Upon realizing that stop was no longer an option, Jun lunged, hoping to tackle Yuka before the other girl could unleash the blast, but it wasn't in time.
Jun slammed against the mat, incredibly dazed. Her body ached. She could still get up, if she had to, but for the most part, she wasn't going to be fighting in the next few minutes. She waved weakly, signalling submission.
"Uh, there will be another short break as Yuka recovers. Feel free to visit the restroom or the snack bar." Witless Minion #6 advised.
This time, half of the crowd got up and hurried out, unsure of how long the break would last. Yuka helped Jun up.
"Sorry about that. I tried to pull my attack, but I guess I've gotten a lot stronger." Yuka apologized.
"S'kay. Just wish I could've been a better fight. I mean, I got one attack and then *bam*. I gotta get back to training." Jun answered.
"Don't feel so bad." Reimi interupted, taking the weakened wrestler from Yuka, "Her power had severely increased and even I don't know why."
Yuka blinked, "You mean, it's not from my training?"
"I think RG may have some answers for you." Reimi responded.
"Why's that?" Yuka asked, looking over at the bandaged immortal and Mariko.
"Don't ask why, just go." Reimi stated, shooing Yuka away.
Confused, Yuka walked over to RG, who was discussing old movies with Mariko.
"You're kidding me, right? Hollywood actually ran out of names?" Mariko inquired.
"There were too many copyrighted names and well..." RG shrugged.
"But to make a movie called 'The Hero is a Whiny Self-Absorbed Shit and You're Probably Going to Hate It'?" Mariko inquired.
"Hey, the lead actor was Andrew Dice Clay." RG responded.
"NOW it all starts to fall together." Mariko declared.
"Uh, RG? Reimi told me to talk to you..." Yuka interupted.
"Yeah, did she say why?" RG asked.
"She said my power increased a lot and she didn't know why." Yuka answered.
RG blinked, then stared her intently for a few seconds before answering, "Well, sonovabi-er, gun."
"What?" Mariko asked.
"She's one of the fifth." RG said, gesturing to Yuka.
"You mean THAT?" Mariko demanded, snapping from her relaxed posture.
"I didn't think I'd see one, but, eh, what can you do?" RG answered.
"Um, what?" Yuka inquired.
"You're beginning that oh-so-important next level. You're the first person who didn't have to die and reincarnate themselves in a cloned body that's ever gotten that particular level." Mariko noted.
"Who? What? Where?" Yuka asked, completely baffled.
"Sorry, memory lapse. You don't know about the fifth level, do you?" RG inquired.
"Fifth? Levels? Is this about a video game?" Yuka requested.
Mariko shook her hands, "No, no, no. There are currently seven levels to ki/chi/qi as we all know it. The first is the level all humans start at. No flaming balls of energy, no lightning, etc. The second level is enhancement of one's physical attributes, like running faster, hitting harder and such. Athletes and various special people hit that level pretty regularly. Then, there's the third level, when a lot of martial artists start learning how to control their energy to the point of generating an aura and throwing one, maaaybe two minor energy blasts. The fourth is when energy becomes more frequent and more powerful. You're on the fifth level. To my knowledge, few people have yet to reach this level. Most of the other VG warriors are on the fourth level. Reaching the fifth... that takes something special."
"What's so special about the fifth level?" Yuka asked.
"Weeeelll, let's just say that no one has ever seen the seventh level, but the Goddess Tamao insists that it is possible. And even Miranda and Material are stuck at the fifth level, even with all of Miranda's gene manipulation and such." RG noted.
"You mean that I'm just as powerful as Material?" Yuka asked.
"Nnnnnno. You see, getting to a higher level doesn't mean you're more powerful. You're just more in touch with your true feelings and you've got a lot more power as a reserve. If someone's shrewd enough with their energy consumption, even a level three could pull off what Reimi did in the ring." RG told her.
"So you mean I'm..." Yuka began.
"He means you've got a D-cell battery instead of a double A." Mariko finished.
"Oh." Yuka replied.
"Actually, Yuka, this may be a sign. You're... what, eighteen? Nineteen? If you've advanced this far in a year..." RG began.
"What are you thinking?" Mariko asked.
"I'm thinking that we might see-" RG began.
"Will everyone take their seats, the final fight of the tournament is about to begin." Witless Minion #6 announced.
Yuka didn't hear what RG had been meaning to say or what Mariko was asking him, but she politely waved and left. After all, her break time was up.
"...after all this time? You really think she could become one?" Mariko inquired.
"It would be nice to see what that would look like. I mean, if it were true..." RG began.
"She would surpass even you in your prime." Mariko noted.
"Screw that! She would be more powerful than Damien, Saki, Angel, Miranda, you, Yuki, Reimi, Satomi and me put together!" RG retorted haughtily.
"...... you really think so?" Mariko asked, taken aback.
"You may not have noticed, but with every power increase, one's ki increases dramatically. She could beat anyone else if she really tried, but if she were to reach that plateau..." RG murmurred, before suddenly turning.
"What is it?" Mariko asked.
"It's Miranda. She's back in town..." RG began.
"Where?" Mariko demanded.
"The hospital that Material and the clones are being kept. Their energy is at the exact same location." RG answered.
"Damn!" Mariko growled.
"Take Reimi, Yuki and Jun. Together, you might be able to catch Miranda." RG advised.
"What about Yuka and Satomi?" Mariko asked.
"No, it's best that we don't alert them as they would try and leave with you. That would startle the crowd and there might be a panic." Angel advised, startling RG and Mariko.
"She talks!" Mariko joked.
"Angel will follow you all. If things get desperate, THEN we'll alert Yuka and Satomi. Until then, do your best." RG answered.
Mariko nodded.
Azumi slammed against the far wall and slumped to the ground. She hadn't even had much chance to attack. The clones, which had just recently recovered from their collective comas, had systematically disabled, crippled or killed anyone in their way. And they could attack in concert, meaning even if you could handle one or two, you were still going to be defeated.
"NEZUMI STRI-" Azumi began before being caught in another attack run.
She hit the wall again and was pounded into it. It wasn't until she went totally limp that they stopped beating on her. It was about then that Mariko, Yuki, Jun and Reimi burst into the lobby of the hospital, where Azumi and the clones were.
"AZUMI!" Mariko cried as she saw her daughter on the ground.
"What the hell? The clones are conscious again?" Yuki demanded.
"Mariko is here." "This will be-" "-most delightful." "Let us-" "-rejoice for-" "-Mistress Miranda." each of the clones spoke in turn.
"Did they talk in such dull tones before?" Jun asked rheotorically.
"Mother is manipulating them like marionettes. It doesn't matter what their original personalities would have been like, they-" Reimi began.
All four women stared, a mild shiver running up their backs as the clones began floating, their arms and legs moving in unison as they sang a slow tune with no real words. They danced in perfect unison, levitating up and down as if someone were puppeting their movements, but forgetting to let them touch the ground.
Finally, the six clones landed. It was only then that the four realized the group had been slowly moving towards the elavator, three of the clones stood to the elavator's left and the other three to the elavator's right, just as the elavator doors opened to reveal Miranda holding Material in her arms.
"Ah, I wasn't really expecting you all, but I guess I can entertain you." Miranda announced.
"Shut up, Miranda! I don't care what games you've been playing since I was gone, I'm putting an end to this!" Mariko growled, her energy flaring.
Miranda handed Material to the Clone-Yuki and then headed to face her old rival. Miranda smiled, then shook her head.
"Sorry, Mariko, you may be good at using your energy as effectively as you need, but you're still not at the same level as me. You can't win." Miranda told the larger woman.
Mariko reared her fist back, ready to punch Miranda, only to feel lightning course up and down her body. She fell to her knees.
"YOU UGLY BI-" Yuki began, charging, only to have lightning engulf her as well.
Reimi began to raise an energy barrier, but it wasn't enough as she met the same fate as Yuki and Mariko.
"You three seem to have forgotten that I still have my ways of controlling you." Miranda laughed.
Jun's surprise jump-kick almost reached Miranda's face, but was stopped short by an invisible force grabbing the wrestler. Jun flailed, trying to hit Miranda, but failed. Miranda hurled Jun over to the five unoccupied clones. Four of the clones grabbed her arms and legs and held her fast in a spread eagle position. The Yuka-clone, still unoccupied, moved to between Jun's legs and kneeled. Jun's struggled increased as she realized what action Miranda was about to force the clone into doing. Or rather what person the clone was about to 'do'.
"You see, RG already knew I was on the fifth level when I was reincarnated this time. What none of you know is that to reach the fifth level, one must come to terms with a side of you that you never knew existed." Miranda began to explain.
The Yuka-clone was thrown away from Jun, who breathed a sigh of relief.
Angel, standing where the Yuka-clone had been, finished Miranda's statement, "And that's why Yuka Takeuchi became more powerful."
"Yes, but you see, the side of myself that I didn't know existed was very surprising, even to me. That's why I tried to get Yuka Takeuchi's body for myself. I wanted to look... pretty for the one I love." Miranda finished.
Angel's brow furrowed.
"You mean that M. Bison is-" Angel began.
"My business partner, what did you think?" Miranda inquired, arching an eyebrow.
"But... RG and I were eavesdropping on you two! He said he proposed to you!" Angel protested.
"Yes, he 'proposed' an idea to take over the world and I'm finally taking him up on it. His revenants are powerful, but can't be mass-produced like my clones. And his normal minions benefit greatly from my XKB-9000s." Miranda answered.
"But, but, but he put his hand on your shoulder and you touched it lovingly!" Angel tried to fathom.
"Of course, he's always reminding his business partners that they're connected. Besides, the man looks too much like Popeye the Sailor Man." Miranda retorted.
Angel's left eye twitched before Yuki demanded, "Then who were you trying to look pretty for?!"
"It should be obvious, but if you insist..." Miranda began, before she cupped Mariko's chin.
"You always hurt the ones you love." Miranda answered, kissing Mariko deeply.
Reimi and Yuki fought to keep from vomitting. Mariko just looked dazed as Miranda finally pulled away, a trail of saliva connecting them briefly. Jun looked nauseous and Angel began laughing. Miranda glared at Angel as the girl's laughter began to run dry.
"This must be a grand joke, Miranda. I know your soul is as cold as ice." Angel scoffed.
"It isn't a joke. Mariko is the one I truly love. And had I managed to get Yuka Takeuchi's body, she wouldn't have even known it was me." Miranda responded.
"And maybe M. Bison will fly out of my ass in a tutu." Angel informed her.
Miranda realized that one person and only one person had ever used that insult to her before.
"Of course, why didn't I see it earlier? Welcome, RG." Miranda snarled.
"RG?!" Jun demanded.
Angel smiled, "Of course. Servants of the master can switch bodies as easily as people can trade watches. Angel was a tad frightened at the thought of having to battle you, so I took her place. After all, you're stronger than Saki and Angel didn't do so well as her."
"You made a mistake, though. Your immortality is connected to your body, which means you're as feeble as-" Miranda began.
The clones dropped as if they were marionettes with their strings severed. Angel-RG's eyes flared. Yuki, Reimi and Mariko stood up, no longer weakened by Miranda's attack.
"I'm as feeble as I was before I became an Endless. Which is still more than enough to get rid of you." Angel-RG snorted.
Miranda closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she smiled.
"Very well. I'll be in Shadowloo. If you all can get in, I'll be happy to fight you once more." Miranda declared, before graciously bowing and vanishing, along with her clones.
Angel-RG's eyes became unfocused for a few seconds. Her stance slid back to Angel's more passive stance.
"I will help you clean up." Angel quietly stated.
Mariko shook her head and hurried over to Azumi.
"That's just too freaky." Jun noted.
"What? Miranda's declaration of love for my mother or RG and Angel being able to swap bodies like changing pants?" Yuki inquired.
"Both." Jun responded.
"I agree completely." Yuki agreed.
Jun sighed. She had completely missed Yuka's match. She had just gotten back in time to see the Award Commitee presenting Yuka with the trophy. But, a lot of hospital personnel had to be helped. It was only natural that she missed the fight. She looked at the VG Tournament Hall. Yuka had told Jun to wait out on her bike, so that's what Jun was doing. Of course, they now had a billion yen to spend on dinner and in the next few weeks, Yuka would have her new house.
"Jun? Sorry to keep you waiting." Yuka said.
Jun turned to look at her with an answer, but any concept of response died as she saw Yuka in a deep blue dress. Swallowing to get moisture back in her throat, Jun stuttered out, "Yu-yuka?! Is that you?"
Yuka blushed as she nodded.
"Uh, you, uh, look really nice." Jun complimented, her own mind stumbling over her words.
"Ready to go to dinner?" Yuka asked.
Jun looked at her casual clothes.
"Don't worry about it. We can go anywhere you want." Yuka told her, walking up to the bike.
"Are you sure?" Jun asked.
Yuka kissed her on the cheek.
"Positive." Yuka responded.
Jun blinked, then a solid blush began to cover her face. Starting her bike as Yuka hopped into the sidecar, Jun began to drive, trying to keep her libido and heartrate both in check.
