CITY
HUNTER
The
first impression that I had from
City
Hunter was from the manga.
I
saw it hangin around my friends room
and
decided to read it.
The
first sign of laughter came
when
I saw Ryo did a 'Mokkori'
to
defend from a kick to the groin.
The
picture showed the bad guy's ankle broke against Ryo's 'you know what'.
Instantly
I laughed my head off
just
by seeing the picture .
You
can see from my manga
collection that,
I
have all of City Hunter's manga.
Tsukasa
Hojo is great!
Santaka
Unfortunately,
Ryo's trademark (Mokkori)
are
'unavailable' in the anime.
This
of course what I was hoping to see in
City
Hunter the anime
(Mokkori
in'motion', lol).
Disappointed
to see 'it' to be censored,
I
was beginning to hate it.
Few
minutes of watching,
I
can see that the spirit of 'Mokkori'
is
still there (Mokkori attacks!),
retaining
some of what is City Hunter.
City
Hunter isn't about 'Mokkori's.
Ryo
is the main character of the story
(off
course).
He
is a detective who was trained
in
the field of war in Latin America.
But
Ryo isn't alone.
When
his partner (Hideyuki Makimura) got killed,
Ryo
avenge his death and told
Makimura's
sister (Kaori) to leave the country.
But
Kaori decided to stay in Japan and
continue
his brothers job as Ryo's partner.
The
story revolves around their adventures.
But
the story is also told about Ryo and Kaori's 'love' story. Everybody knows
(the characters in the story)
that
they love each other.
But,
Ryo and Kaori never said anything
about
their true feelings with each other.
Even
through the end of the manga series,
their
romance never happens.
Review
This
is an outstanding manga.
I
give this manga my out most recommendation.
For
the anime, I give it my out most recommendation too. Why you asked?
Akira Kamiya.
The guy who
gave
Ryo his voice
NICE JOB!
'Didn't
you say that you hate it?'.
Well......not
really. This is a very good anime.
I
have to be honest to my self.
I
really like the anime very much.
Yes
it doesn't show any real 'mokkori',
but
the spirit of it still lives.
And
the spirit is in a very good shape,
I
tell 'ya! (lol).
The
story shows a lot of story
that
wasn't in the anime.
I
don't know if Tsukasa Hojo wrote the story,
but
I kind a doubt it.
But
it's still a good anime.
The
story between Kaori and Ryo makes a few appearance.
So,
I can't really complain much.
Try
not to miss this anime.
But
if you happens to see the manga
hangin'
around a book store, by all means...
GET
IT!

Review
CITY HUNTER's story
is a mixture between
violence, humor, romance,
and a potrait of life in Japan.
But the thing that
makes this Anime so popular,
is that Ryo is very
GOOD in what he's doing.
He's like a soldier
living in the city.
His abilities are not
to be levelled with any
cowboys known in this
earth (seriously).
His got the best gun
aiming capabilities around
with the ability to
shoot through a bulls eye spot
rapidly with none bullets
out of the bull's eye!
He's also has the strengh
and speed
that you can never
imagine
(he can knock out an
army of bodyguards barehanded
and wipe out a platoon
of army single handedly).
All drawn and brought
to you in a realistic way,
that you can feel that
he's not just a anime character.
Ryo Saeba is the strongest
soldier,
the best detective,
great looking, very tall (191.4 cm),
great posture, and
the best womenizer around.
No one can beat this
guy!
