History:

Shinji was linked to the Eva Project from his early childhood.  Born 9 months after the Second Impact, he was, of course, destined to become an Evangelion Pilot.  Even before such things were known, however, his parents, Yui and Gendo, were leaders in the project, and would sometimes let the young boy come to see the facilities.  One faitful test, however, Shinji saw his mother enter the plug of Unit One, and never come out.  Only about 4 years old at the time, it was an event that would only see it's full signifigance much later in his life.

His father, Gendo, found his life's work in Eva and abandoned Shinji soon after the accident.  There was no room in this man's life to raise a child.  Still, Shinji got by, learning to accept the lonelyness and isolation around him.

In the year 2015, the Third Shito attacked Tokyo 3.  Needing a pilot, and knowing Shinji would qualify for unique reasons, Gendo finally contacted Shinji and brought him to pilot the massive Unit One.  A test type copy of monsters few knew about.  To save the First Child from further injuring her already battered body, Shinji agreed to fight the Shito/Angel.  It became apparent that he knew his shit, and the poor Angel never had a chance against an enraged, Berserker Evangelion.

Tidbits:

• Most often used phrases:  "I mustn't run away!" and "Sorry."
• Listens to track 25 and 26 on his SDAT walkman whenever possible
• Hates his father, but wishes he didn't
• Plays the Cello (quite well, in fact)
• Wishes to make other people happy by doing things for them, yet is always scared of rejection, no matter how close he becomes with them.
• Has the same birthdate as "Damien" the Anti-Christ.  Odd, no?
