Chinese Recipe with Five Spice Chicken

INGREDIENTS

  • 700g chicken breasts (sliced thin)
  • 250g chinese cabbage (shreeded)
  • 1 1/2 cups bean sprouts (tips trimmed)
  • 8 green onions (sliced thick)
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp lime rind (grate fine)
  • 2 garlic (crushed)
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp five spice powder
  • 2 tbsp peanut oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

To prepare:

  • In a large bowl, mix the following: lime rind and juice, garlic, ginger, five spice and 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • Add in chicken and cover, refrigerate for 3 hours
  • Heat 1/2 oil in a wok, stir-fry the chicken in batches till chicken is browned and cooked through
  • Remove and set aside
  • Add in remaining oil, stir-fry cabbage, sprouts and onion till cabbage is just wilted
  • Return chicken to wok with coriander and remaining sauce, stir-fry tossing to combine with the vegetables
  • Serve with deep-fried rice noodles if you wish

TIP: After marinading the chicken, you can freeze chicken with all the marinade in the freezer for up to 3 months.
