Pre-History:
In the time before Beryl's reign, Xavier had been a priest of Gaea known simply as Erebus.When Beryl took Earth, he was the last of Gaea's priests to be sent to the future because he was not in the village at the time of the attack. He tried to hold off the invading forces, at least long enough for the people to escape, but he too fell. The last thing he saw were Gaea's tears as she finished the spell that gave him and his fellow priests and priestesses a second chance.
History:
Xavier Descartes has spent most of his life trying to find his place. His mother was Japanese, he never knew his father. As a child he lived in Orleans,France, with his mother,who was an outcast for falling for a "foreign devil",and trying to follow him. She stopped when she realized he didn't want her,and tried to make the best of where she was,and to raise her son. Xavier knew it wouldn't be enough... he was 13 when he started working for the mob He started out as a distraction for the police, making them look the wrong direction at the right times, but soon became a useful spy. No one ever thought to be careful around a kid, and when they did he would hide. He never made many friends; his work prevented much of a social life,and his mother became suspicous. It didn't take long for her to find out what Xavier had been doing, and at 16 he told his contact he had to quit. His contact understood, family is important, but not everyone in the organization was so understanding...He turned up dead. Xavier and his mother quickly fled to America, but not fast enough. 6 months after establishing citizenship, his mother was killed when her car exploded. Police never found any successful leads to the criminal who commited the murder, and eventually gave up. Xavier was never found, and it was assumed he had been killed by the same explosion...
Two weeks later Xavier Makuriyami turned up in Atlantis. Using his mother's name, he claimed to be fleeing Japanese racial persecution because of his French heritage. A lie, but because of the tension in curretn American-Japanese relations, no one checked. They figured they had saved a fellow white man from the unjust treatment of the current Japanese government. Things weren't nearly as bad as Americans thought they were, but facts were distorted in the American medias rush for a better story. That was fine with Xavier; anything that kept people from looking too close. He spent his 17th birthday orphaned and alone in the streets of a new city. It was on that day that Gaia found him and showed him what he once was. Since then, he's found a home and a job, and is on his own,
Personality:
Because of Xavier's past problems, he is cynical and mistrusting of everyone he meets. Xavier prefers to work alone,but because he believes himself to be the first priest Gaea found( He's actually the second, after Amano Kione but Xavier doesn't know about her group of senshi) he believes himself to be the "leader" of the group-a job he doesn't look forward to. Xavier prefers to get the job done,rather than worry about politics. He could care less what anyone else thinks, as long as he accomplishes what he set out for. He does, however, prefer stealth and subtlety to other methods of problem solving. He's not careless, he just prefers to get things done.
Powers:
Night Veil: Sailor Erebus can create a field that dulls the senses of everyone in it except Erebus himself.
Energy Siphon: Sailor Erebus can drain the power from another person, feeding it straight into the biosphere, and thereby strengthening other Fiana Senshi around him. The sources of the drain usually fall asleep, always receive some memory loss (both depend on how much energy was siphoned) and always regain their energy after a while. Usually they're fine by the time they wake up.
Cloak of Shadows: As a senshi or civilian, Xavier has the ability to hide himself and others in "The Cloak of Shadows", which basically means that they step through a barrier into a sub-dimension of darkness. Xavier requires a shadow, or some other kind of dark place to do this, and to come back although they need not be the same place.(Kind of like teleportation, he can go in one place,and come out another.)
