HEY, HERE WE ARE AT QUESTER'S PAGE 8 OF THE PICTURE GALLERY
The Taoist thought of the day:
Non-intention. So often we perform virtuous deeds hoping to receive praise or recognition. That's no virtue at all. True virtue is a state where such actions flow forth naturally, requiring no conscious effort or thought.
My wife has a rather close-knit family. One of the members dreamed up having all the twelve children come in from all over the world and have a get-together.
This was the extended family with all husbands and wives also present.
When we arrived at the airport, family did come to met us with a car.
This was outside Momsie's new house.
The old Brooke Avenue house was history.
Of course we all got together for dinner out and occuppied three or four tables.
I had a chance to meet loads of my Chinese neices and nephews.
This was Grace and little Mary Ann, daughters of Teresa and Patrick.
Here are also Rosalind's children Stephanie and Lionel.
My brother-in-law, Patrick, took us out into the countryside to meet some native Dayaks.
This is one of the Dayak's famous longhouses.
Each longhouse has an indoor porch area running the length of the house. Interestingly enough, when we visited a longhouse back in 1987, I actually noted shrunken heads hanging from ceilings in some hallways. Now, they were removed. (perhaps politically incorrect?)
These youngsters sat in the porch area waiting for their mothers to play musical instruments. When the women beat their drums and shook their rattles, one of the Dayaks couldn't resist dancing to their beat.
Of course those of us who think they have rhythm couldn't help but join
in the festivities.
Even our host Patrick caught the fever.
Lions do make a difference right?
This is public transportation in Sarawak. They even have television aboard with movies.
We visited the village of Kanowit where Trudy attended elementary school.
Most of her high school was done in Sibu where family moved when her father went into business for himself.
As long as we were nearby, Indonesia became a sidetrip for us.
Trudy's sister and her husband went with us.
Those Indonesian villages were quite intereting to visit.
Indonesians have high standards for their art work.
A visit to the jungle produced a lot of curious monkeys.
Trudy's sister Rosalind is quite beautiful. She and Jack made our trip into Indonesia very worthwhile.
Here she gives a signal that both she and Trudy have been victorious over their husbands about an on coming shopping trip.
Back in the states
we had to visit Tucson for doctor's appointments. I'm standing with my grand-daughter Susannah.
Nothing like lounging around in bathing suits for a dip in the downstairs jacuzzi.
Since I loved taking pictures of Trudy in her many suits, here is another.
and still another.
My friend from my earlier bachelor days made his foothills home in the middle of an exclusive golf-course available to us.
We certainly knew how to take advantage of his generousity.
In the fall of 1995 our boat living became old to us.
What happens then? It was definitely time to move out of our thirty-nine foot living space to more spaciousness. We decided to buy a house on the beach and make Port Aransas our permanent home. What a change shedding a boat and making a beach house home!
