MY FIRST INTRODUCTION TO NGE WAS DURING AN ANIME CONVENTION IN SAN JUAN
(FIGURES!) WHERE I CAME ACROSS A NEWTYPE MAGAZINE WITH ASUKA ON THE COVER;
I FOUND IT SO COOL, I FORKED OVER $16 BUCKS AND TOOK IT HOME.
AFTER SEVERAL DAYS OF REGRET AND A HAVING TO TAKE THE BUS BECAUSE I
FORGOT TO GAS UP THE CAR (!!@#%*&) I DID A LITTLE INVESTIGATION ON
THE SERIES. THEN ON A RAINY EVENING IN APRIL OF 96, A MONTH AFTER GETTING
THE MAGAZINE, MY COUSIN-ANOTHER ANIME NUT, LET ME BORROWED THE FIRST 4
EPISODES OF NGE.
AND FROM THAT MOMENT ON, I WAS HOOKED; NOW I HAVE ALL THE VIDEO EPISODES,
PLUS A LARGE VARIETY OF NGE RELATED PARAPHERNALIA; OH, AND NOT TO FORGERT
MY OWN EVA DEDICATED SITE ON THE NET.
MY THOUGHTS ON...
REI AYANAMI~ She is a unique character; no fuss, no senseless talk, just straight to the point and dedicated to her job. She is quiet and reserved about everything and sometimes cold to the point of freezing; despite this, she scores major "Babe" points with me. If there is a woman like her in this world, I envy the man that has her for a girlfriend/wife.
SOHRYU ASUKA LANGLEY~Although her self-centerd attitude makes me want to puke; her dedication and stamina when in combat cannot be ignored, she is like a true soldier, proud of what she does and competitive enough to be on top always. My opinion on her is that she is a good soldier, but she needs to lighten up and be less of a pain in the rear.
MISATO KATSURAGI~Now, there's a girl I want to meet in real life; sexy, intelligent, brave, resourceful, and above all, an excellent drinking partner. I wish every girl I meet would be as good as her, she has what it takes to be in command, plus her personality scores all "Babe" points; on a scale of 1-10, I wouls give her an 1,000.
RITRSUKO AKAGI~ The quintessential egghead, she is intelligent and quite impressive for a scientist; but don't get me wrong, she has good looks to match her talent as an engineer. She gets an 8-8.5 on my scale.
SHINJI IKARI~I sometimes feel sorry for him, is not easy being son to a guy who cares squat about him and still perform a very hazardous job like operating an EVA. He tries so hard to measure up to a guy who cares little about him. personally I would've walked away, not before cursing like a drunk redneck on a family reunion; but then again, I would've done the same thing if I would have to pick Rei from the floor, beaten and fragile (I'm a sucker for girls with blue hair, red eyes and frail bodies).
GENDOU IKARI~ Now, here's guy, you have to hate; if there is a person in which I would center all my hate and rage, this guy would fit the bill. A person has to be cold-blooded and demented to put his own flesh and blood to all the things he has put Shinji through. If I was inside Shinji's hide, the series would've ended differently; I would say the following: MARK MY WORDS, FATHER. YOU CROSS ME JUST ONCE, AND THERE WILL BE NO SAFE PLACE FOR YOU TO HIDE FROM ME. I'LL GET ON THAT EVA, BUT GET THIS STRAIGHT; I AM DOING THIS FOR NOBODY ELSE BUT FOR ME. FUCK ME OVER JUST ONCE AND I'LL UNSCREW YOUR HEAD AND SHIT DOWN YOUR NECK! that will put his ass on the straight and narrow path.
RYOJI KAJI~ I wouldn't trust him with my email password, this guy is big trouble. But then again, who wouldn't want to be like him? Suave with the ladies, cool attitude and that James Dean look that just makes me want to shoot him in the face with a shotgun.
