"Hmmm....what a beautiful day.", mused Miaka. As she looked out the window at the bright blue sky mildly dotted with friendly and puffy white clouds. She closed her eyes and silently thanked the gods for days like these, which she spends with her friends and her beloved Taka. "Taka.", she smiled as she tried to pinpoint her boyfriend in the sea of faces that crowded the restaurant.
"Oi, Taka. How long are you gonna make us wait." Complained Tetsuya who couldn't wait to begin his date with Yui.
Yui seated on the chair between Miaka and Tetsuya smiled at him. She reached out and comforted him, "It's ok, Tetsuya-san. The movie doesn't start for another hour. We still have plenty of time." Tetsuya blushed more at the contact of Yui's hand with his, rather than with his show of impatience. Miaka contented herself with sipping her soda and silently smiling at the couple before her. Having calmed Tetsuya, Yui glanced at the hurrying figure coming towards their table.
"Sorry, Tetsuya-san,", apologized Taka, setting his empty tray down on the table, "I have --".
"Taka," interrupted a voice from behind him, "table 27 is waiting."
"Ah! Hai!" Once again Taka apologized to his three friends. "After this I'll be off then we can go. Ok, Tetsuya-san?" Taka didn't wait for Tetsuya's response as he turned his attention to Miaka. "Miaka, are you okay? Do you want anything else?", he smiled at his girlfriend who had about seven or so dishes piled up in front of her.
"Ehm," declined Miaka, "all I want is Taka." She smiled as she looked up at the handsome waiter waiting on her every whim.
Taka smiled inwardly and leaned in closer to Miaka. "This one more," he promised and kissed his blushing girlfriend on the lips. Miaka smiled into the light kiss and closed her eyes. "Yes it really is a beautiful day," she thought.
"Mi-a-ka," interrupted Yui's sing-song voice from her reverie, "how long is your face going to stay like that."
"Eh." Miaka opened her eyes and closed her mouth which she did not notice was open. She snickered as she tried to hid her embarrassment. She then noticed that Taka had gone and resumed sipping her soda.
"So, Tetsuya-san," started Yui trying to pass the time, "is the movie..."
When Taka returned five minutes later, Miaka and Yui were debating over actress in the movie was better.
"...she is much better than her..."cried Miaka trying to defend her idol.
"Taka-kun? What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost?", queried Tetsuya as Taka approached their table with a wide eyed expression on his face.
"I...I just saw...", began Taka. Suddenly he grabbed Miaka onto her feet. Miaka who worried at Taka's inability to express himself was surprised and not do anything but be dragged by him towards another area of the restaurant.
"Taka?" Yui was also worried about Taka's sudden action and followed the pair around the restaurant.
"Are we going now?" Tetsuya's voice of impatience was replaced with worry for his friend. He tried to keep up with the pair winding and twisting around the tables and people inhabiting the restaurant. They were headed for the door when suddenly Taka led them right behind a big potted plant.
"Taka, what's wr--".
"Look, look over there." Taka cut Miaka off and pointed to the only table in front of the the plant. The table was about two meters from the plant and was located near a window. Miaka, Yui and Tetsuya studied the lone figure sitting at the table.
The figure was sitting directly across the window. She, Tetsuya deduced the person was a woman, had long purple hair that disappeared behind her back. Some of that hair was pulled back in a clasp, away from her delicate porcelain face. Her delicate hands were laced together under her chin which cradled a face with a smile on it's lips, a blush on its cheek and a twinkle on it's bright violet eye. Tetsuya could only see the left side of the woman's face but he had to admit that she was extremely beautiful.
"Nuriko.", gasped Miaka as she gazed upon the familiar features of her friend from inside the book, Shi Jin Ten Sho.
Author's Notes: Well there you go... My very first fanfic on Fushigi Yuugi. Don't worry there's still more. I've never actually have gone this long writing a story before so maybe you guys can email me some suggestions or encouragement. There isn't much I can say about this fanfic but all of Suzaku seishi will be appearing in it. I will be using their real names instead of their seishi names. I was planning and using different names for them like Taka but then you probably won't relate to them as much as you will the names already given to them. And Aside from that I don't know that many Japanese names. I also tried to refrain from using Japanese but sometimes it kinda slips. I am not Japanese but I have taken some courses and know a little bit. So if my usage of a Japanese phrase is improper please feel free to tell me my mistake. You can also tell me about my misspelling and grammar errors. I know I probably have a lot of run on sentences and stuff. Writing is not really my forte but I have all these ideas in my head and I just want to share it with you guys. So please feel free to email me and tell me what you think of my fic.
