The Third Annual David Wong Support Committee

BENEFIT DINNER

The David Wong Support Committee held its third annual fundraiser banquet on Friday, April 14th at Harmony Palace in New York City and participated in the Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival in Union Square on May 7th.

Over 125 people attended the fundraiser banquet, where we honored lifelong activists Yuri Kochiyama and Kazu Iijima and raised over $1,000. We received updates on the legal status from the Center of Constitutional Rights lawyer Pamela Armour, on the Northern California DWSC branch, and on the past year of DWSC activities.

Over the last year, the New York Times and A. Magazine have printed articles about David's case, the DWSC visited David in prison, the DWSC held a dinner for David's mother and niece, the DWSC organized a protest march through Chinatown with speakers and a candlelight vigil, a new DWSC branch was started in Northern California branch, and DWSC members spoke at Vassar College, Wesleyan University, Stanford University, and various conferences.

Josh Weiner provided entertainment for the evening and DWSC members read statements written by David Wong and his mother.

The DWSC holds regular meetings that are open to new members. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about David's case, attend one of our meetings, or help us plan future events.

Thank you for your support!
