Eva-01 is the Evangelion, or Eva that Shinji Ikari pilots through the series. Eva-01 is the most unstable Eva that was built. A few times it went out of control and destroyed or ate an angel. Eva-01 posses a S2 engine, Eva’s 00 and 02 do not posses an engine. The Eva got this engine when it ate the angel it was fighting. Before the Eva got the engine, which enabled it to move without external power, the Eva still moved without power when it had to. For example, at the beginning of the series when Sachiel attacked Tokyo-3, part of the ceiling in the cage where Eva-01 was beginning held fell and the Eva without power raised its hand and protected Shinji. The Eva also has the spirit of
Shinji’s mother, Yui, inside the Eva.
Eva-00 is the prototype of the Eva’s. This Eva was not built for combat and is the worse for combat. Twice Eva-00 has failed synchronization with Rei and Shinji and both times went out of control. At first Eva-00’s armor was yellow, but at after Rei And Shinji defeated Ramiel the armor was all but destroyed and
the armor was changed to blue.
Eva-02 his the first mass produced Eva and Asuka says “its the first real Evangelion.” It is the most stable among the Eva’s in the series. It was seen in underwater combat when it fought Gaghiel and destroyed it.
