This is probably one of the most popular anime guys in the world. Mirai(Future) Trunks of Dragon Ball Z. The handsome young man is extremely power, even more than his "dear" old dad (And Vegeta don't look too happy about that.)In fact, he doesn't look too happy about it here either. Just kidding, he is just having a little bad day.

Now you probably noticed that the two pictures above don't look the same. Well, it is because one is Trunks' transformed state (The one with the hair going up.) and the other one is when our adorable Trunks is having a good day, doesn't that explain why he had a sour look on the other one =) ?

Now, after your first question is explained, you are probably asking why Trunks is called Future Trunks. Well, get ready to sit back for a long story squeezed into not that long... Just take note that I'm going to spoil a lot of suprises for you.

After Son Goku and gang beat Freeza (Never thought THAT saga is gonna end. It takes forever!) Goku went up with the explosion when the Planet Namek they were fighting on exploded, or everyone thought he did. Several years after his disapperance, Freeza come back! And this time he is bringin ghis dear old da, King Cold, to Earth to help him revenge himself. All the fighters gathered again, but all know that their power will not be able to beat Freeza after his power upgrade and Vegeta suggested to prepare a funeral.

The Cold gang reaches Earth and Freeza orders his underlings to kill off everyone on the planet. Before they could move, however, a mysterious youth (Yep, enter the hero.) confronts them, with a pathetic power rating of 1. Unknowing the true power of Trunks, they attacked him and was killed instantly. The other fighters all sense the brief fight and become shocked and afride of the new unknown power source. Meanwhile, Freeza tried to fight Trunks, only to get sliced and diced. King Cold tried to persuade Trunks to become his son, but Trunks refuses, but agree to let King Cold examine his sword. King Cold tries to attack with the sowrd, but Trunks caught it and lay his palm on K.C.'s belly and blow him away =).

Trunks also destroys their spaceship. The Z gang arrive on the scene only to find one youth standing in the middle of a disaster area. Trunks timidly invites them to wait for Son Goku's arrival on Earth with him, they all reluctly agrees since for some reason Trunks seem to know all of them. They flow to a coodinate and wait for several hours. During which Trunks offers them drinks and seem to be espacially interested in Vegeta. Bulma noticed a little simularity between them. Trunks refuses to give any information except his age, which is 17. He even told them he can not tell them his name.

Son Goku finally arrive, suprised to find all his friends waiting for him. However, he denys that he even knows the young man who they all thought must be his friend. Trunks requested the he and Son Goku have a private talk and they go off to the side. He asked Goku to go Super Saiyan, and to everyone's suprise, he himself also went Super Saiyan! After he proved his Saiyan heritage, he attacks Goku and they had a short match. Finally, did he reveal more information about himself. He told Goku that his name is Trunks, he can turn Super Saiyan because...he is the son of Vegeta! Goku was knocked compeletly outta his wit but admits the boy is sort of like Vegeta.

Trunks told Goku that he has traveled back in time because in the future, 2 cyborgs wreck havec on the world and everyone except Trunks has been kill. When Goku asked about himself, Trunks told him that he dies of a heart diease years before the cyborgs even appeared. Trunks has traveled back in hopes of learning how to beat the cyborgs by watching the present fighters chanllange the cyborgs that is going to appear in 3 years or even bring Goku back.

Goku asks why did Trunks come looking for him and not other people and Trunks replied it's because his mother know Goku. Goku did a little thinking and immediatly realize that Trunks' mother is Bulma! Now that Trunks' heritage had given Goku two big wammie on the head, the youth decided it's time he should return to his own time. Goku asks when they'll see him again and Trunks replied in 3 years after the time machine's power has been recharged.

Eventually Trunks does come back to the time line and help the present Z fighters fight the two cyborgs and died but got resurrected doing so. You want the full story? Wit until the videos or the comic books are relesed, or even quicker, ask someone who knows.

Gee that was a mouth full, several mouths full maybe? But that is the story and god do I need several gallons of water after this long monologue. Now you know the story, why do you think I like him? Becuase of his loyalties to his family, friends, and time line(?). Besides, he is good looking ^_^ and a free game, just kidding. Besides, I think that sad eyes and shy smile just makes you wanna pet him on the head and comfort him (Not a good idea though).
