Well here I am having a crack at a serious fic. I’ve written 3 others but they weren’t funny (I was TRYING to make them funny ^^) so I decided to try to write a serious fic, I haven’t even tried to give my other fics to anyone in the net. Those fics are hidden away somewhere on my computer. ANYWAYS, I hope you like my fic. Um…there’s nothing much else to say I guess. Onward with the fic!
"Aeris..."

Everyone on the Highwind watched as the lifestream came from all over the planet. Individual strands began to reach out and envelop the meteor. All of those strands seemed to worm their way into the very center of the meteor, and then suddenly there was a blinding light and a tremendous explosion and everyone on the Highwind blacked out. Everyone slept dreamlessly...that is, except for Cloud…

Cloud found himself floating aimlessly throughout a total and complete nothingness. He wondered if he had died. But then he heard someone say his name once, then once again. Slowly, he began opened his eyes, and heard a very familiar voice call out to him. “Cloud, wake up Cloud” He looked in front of him and saw Aeris reaching out to him. She was alive! Cloud then truly believed he was dead. But when he heard her say “Cloud, grab my hand” everything seemed to come into focus, and he knew this was for real. Cloud reached out to her and grabbed her hand, and squeezed it roughly, as if just to make sure it was real. The darkness vanished and Cloud found himself standing in the sleeping forest with Aeris in front of him, still holding his hand. “Aeris! You’re alive!!!” he shouted as realization hit him. He pulled on her arm bringing her into a bear hug. After a moment Aeris managed to disentangle her self from Cloud’s grasp just enough to back up and look into his eyes. “No, Cloud I’m not alive, this is but a dream, my body is still at the bottom of the lake in the Ancient’s city and its just my soul that you see before you now” “No! You’re alive! You have to be! I can see you, feel you.” he said as he squeezed her hand gently to reassure himself that she was indeed there. “Cloud I am merely manifesting myself in your dreams, I am as real as you believe me to be for this is your mind, I’m just tweaking a bit with it” Cloud didn’t feel reassured at the thought but didn’t mention that. “Don’t worry Cloud I won’t mess too much with your mind,” she said as she laughed merrily. She then said “What I have come to tell you is this; I need you to go to the island of KOR (Knights of the Round) and see a man there. Then the answer will be found.” “Why? Answer to what? Wait! Don’t go!” he cried as he saw Aeris begin to fade from in front of him “Cloud I can’t stay I must go….” Cloud tried to vainly hold her fading figure but only encountered air as she disappeared. Cloud sank to his knees and whispered softly “Aeris…”

Cloud awakened with a jerk, Cid. (I just couldn’t help it I had to use that pun) Cid’s loud cursing awakened him. “Oh f**king sh*t!!! Were gonna f**king crash!!! Cloud looked around and saw that indeed they were falling towards the ground with increasing speed. He saw both the pilots were on the ground along with everyone else. He went to Tifa and tried to rouse her. Cid was trying to pull at the control stick when everyone was starting to wake they struck the ground with such a force that everyone was thrown to the ground again. The Highwind traveled several yards until it finally stopped. Everyone tentatively stood up and checked their surroundings. The glass from the window was shattered and the pilots were still on the floor. Barret went and checked their pulses “there dead” he said. Vincent was examining Cait Sith who hung limp he asked “Was Reeve on the top plate when Meteor hit us?” Tifa nodded her head sadly and said, “I think so”. Cid wandered around from panel to panel and looked it all over. He then dropped to the floor and sobbed. “First the Tiny Bronco, then my spaceship, now my Highwind!” “Yuffie wandered over to the broken window whilst Tifa comforted Cid. Yuffie let out a loud gasp and said “You guys better come over here and see this!” Everyone hurried over to Yuffie. Tifa gasped, and Cid let out a whispered “oh Sh*t” A few miles off was Midagar. The top plate was completely destroyed. Even now large pieces could be seen falling. “Oh god I hope Reeve’s plan worked” said Tifa. “We should go to see if anyone…survived,” said Red. Everyone agreed this would be the best choice so they began to leap out the window. When Cloud was the last one left he yelled down to Tifa and the group “Wait a sec! I’ll bee right back!” he then disappeared into the Highwind. Cid looked at where Cloud had disappeared and asked Tifa “Where the hell is he going?” Tifa shrugged her shoulders indicating she had no idea. After a few minutes Cloud appeared holding the reins to his Chocobo, Meka. When he had jumped down with her he said, “I just couldn’t bear to leave her behind”. The party nodded and headed towards Midagar.

As the party topped a hill they all turned back to look at the Highwind. It was a complete mess. The only part that had survived was the cockpit and a part of the back. For miles behind parts of the Highwind could be seen. It was a smoldering wreck. Cid looked back at it for a minute then he turned and strode away. Everyone quickly followed him wisely deciding not to make any comments on it. After the first mile Yuffie began to complain. “Its so hot and I’m tired!” she whined. “Here Yuffie, hop up on Meka” said Cloud annoyed. Yuffie quickly complied and hopped on Meka’s back. Meka let out an indignant squawk and turned back to eye Yuffie. Barret leaned over to Cid and said, “I feel sorry for the poor beast” Barret and Cid shared a laugh as Yuffie stuck out her tongue at them. Cloud stepped next to Tifa and asked, “Do you want to go on Meka too?” “No I’m alright,” said Tifa. But Cloud would have none of it and to Tifa’s surprise he grabbed her from the waist and perched her on top of Meka, in front of Yuffie. After Yuffie complained a bit about having to be in the back, Cloud marched on ahead. Tifa watched the back of the man she loved…

When they reached Midagar they were relived to se that many people were leaving the dead city. When they reached the front gate they managed to spot Reeve attending to an injured man. Reeve greeted them warmly and told them about the situation at hand. “Most of the people that took refuge in the slums survived, but many pieces of the top plate did fall on killing many, injuring many too. But all the survivors are heading off to Kalm and Fort Condor” he then grew sad as he said “I won’t be able to stay with you all, I am needed here at the moment and I wish to stay”. Cloud clasped Reeves hand and shook it with energy “we understand”. One by one the party shook hands with Reeve with the exception of Red who had to suffer himself to be patted on the head by Reeve. Yuffie was the last to say her good-byes and much to Reeve’s surprise she gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek saying, “I’ll miss you”. The party went to the outskirts of Midagar and sat watching the stragglers leave. “Can we all go to Kalm? I really wanna see Marlene,” said Barret. Tifa nodded and said “of course Barret” she looked questionably at everyone else and they all nodded their heads in agreement. They all began to leave, when Cloud turned back and got one last look at the ruined Midagar. He then hurried after his friends.

As they came to the outskirts of Kalm, Barret could control himself no longer, and he burst into a run and quickly disappeared into the crowd of refugees that also seeked to enter Kalm. The party hurried after Barret and headed towards the building were she was. As they entered the house they found Barret holding Marlene in such a tight hug she was almost gasping for breath. “Daddy, don’t cry, I’m alright now that you’re here.” She said as she hugged Barret. She then caught sight of Tifa and wriggled out of Barret’s arms. “Tifa!” she cried as she ran into Tifa’s arms. Tifa stood there stroking Marlene's hair and hugging her. Marlene saw Cloud over Tifa’s shoulder and she ran to him saying “Uncle Cloud!” much to the bemusement of Barret and Tifa. Cloud picked up the girl startled as Tifa and Barret. She whispered in his ear “The flower girl came to me in a dream!” Cloud’s eyes grew wide. “She said that you need to remember what she told you and that you should go to KOR” Cloud set her down gently surprised. “You saw her too?” Marlene nodded and looked up at Cloud. “Cloud mumbled under his breath “She really came.” Barret then could stand it no longer and said “What R U talkin’ about?” “Well its kinda hard to explain” Said Cloud scratching his head. “Well explain, we have the time,” said Vincent offhandedly. Cloud sat down on the floor and the others followed suit. “Well, I thought it was just a dream but it seems its true since Marlene saw her too” began Cloud. “Who’s her?” asked Cid annoyed. “Aeris” said Cloud. The room grew more sober. “When we blacked out when the impact of Meteor exploding hit us, I dreamt. I saw myself floating and I saw Aeris reach out to me. I grabbed her hand and I found myself in the Sleeping forest she told me that I should go to KOR to find the answer” said Cloud. “The answer to what?” asked Tifa. “I have no idea” replied Cloud. “So I suppose you’re going to KOR then, right?” said Yuffie. “Yes”. “Well lets get packed up and ready to go,” said Barret. “No Barret I go alone.” Said Cloud sternly. “What? No way you foo’! We are all going!” said Barret indignantly. Cloud looked up into Barret’s face and said amusedly “and how to you plan to do that? Remember how I last go to KOR. With Meka.” Barret lowered his face as the realization hit him. “Oh, I guess Meka wouldn’t be able to carry us all.” Tifa stood and went over to where Cloud was and stood before him “I’m going too” she stated plainly. Cloud opened his mouth to object but caught the look on Tifa’s face and thought better of it and just nodded.

The next morning Materia was exchanged and potions were packed. Cloud and Tifa left the village. Marlene watched their retreating backs and whispered “good luck”.

After they walked a bit Cloud glanced around and looked to see if anyone was looking he then headed into a push and pulled out the saddle he had hidden there. He then let out a shrill whistle. After a bit Meka came trotting up to Cloud and nuzzled his hand. Tifa watched on bemused and wondered on how he had trained that Chocobo so well. She was shook out of her thoughts as Cloud had saddled Meka and reached his hand out to Tifa to help her on. He pulled her up and then they were off.

As they went riding east they talked about many things. Tifa had been pondering something and asked Cloud about it. (Authors note: I usually don’t like putting notes in serious fics but I just had to put this. If the story and details seem to be a bit bland forgive me its 1:13 am and I might start to lose it here) “Cloud what did you do with the golden Chocobo you got from the man in Kalm after we defeated the Ruby weapon?” “I set it free, I didn’t need two as I already had Meka. And I’m rather fond of Meka, so I decided I rather keep her then some other Chocobo.” Meka looked up at Cloud and gave him an appraising look and let out something that sounded like a purr (but it could have been that grass she had been eating) and kept on running. They then noticed that they were passing the Chocobo farm and saw the sea in the distance. Cloud said to Tifa “When we reach the beach we will stop and rest for the night and keep going on in the morning. Tifa nodded and rested her head on Clouds shoulder. When they reached the beach they set up camp and Cloud unsaddled Meka and let her roam about. They went to sleep dreaming about what the next day held for them…

Tifa looked off towards KOR and had sudden misgivings and she expressed those to Cloud. “Cloud are you sure you want to go? I have this feeling that we shouldn’t” Cloud didn’t respond but turned his head out to look at KOR. Cloud started packing up their things to get ready to go on to KOR. Tifa pulled out her mastered KOR materia and mused about it. This isn’t the original KOR materia this was the one that was born after Cloud mastered his. He fought many small monsters to master it and it took a lot of time while she didn’t have to fight half as many ‘cause she mastered it when they beat the ultimate weapon and Ruby weapon. The island seemed so creepy and deserted when they were first there and Tifa felt for sure that no one was going to be there this time either. But Cloud hoped that he would find Aeris there and maybe he would be able to find out how to bring her back from the dead. Tifa watched Cloud’s back as he put the saddle on Meka. I’m in love with a man who is in love with a dead girl, she thought bitterly. She was jerked out of her reverie by Cloud saying “Lets go” he climbed on and then helped Tifa on and off they went across the sea heading towards KOR.

When they came in sight of the island Tifa saw that it had not changed. It still had the high mountains that were unsurpassable for anything but a golden Chocobo. As Meka climbed the treacherous peaks she had no trouble at all and never lost her footing. As they topped the rise Tifa saw that there was still that impregnable forest that had not let the Highwind land there and had not permitted they party to be parachuted there for the forest was so thick they would get lost quickly. But for Meka there was no problem as she could find her way with that uncanny Chocobo sense. Meka emerged to where the cave entrance was and Cloud and Tifa dismounted. Cloud crooned something to Meka and Meka went off into the forest. When they entered the old cave they saw no one there and just as Tifa was going to comfort Cloud an old man stepped through a wall and headed towards them. The old man wore a very tattered shirt that used to be red but the color had changed due to all the dirt and grime on it. He wore blue pants that were in tatters very much like the shirt. He had a long white beard. So long it reached down to the floor and remarkably it was clean unlike his clothes. He had a few strands of hair on his head, and his eyes were a deep dark brown. The corners of his eyes crinkled up as he smiled at them. He beckoned them to come closer saying, “I’ve been waiting for you”. He motioned that Cloud and Tifa should sit on the ground in front of him. As they did so he joined them. “You probably don’t know me by my appearance but you surely know my name, I am Professor Ghast.” Tifa let out a gasp in recognition. “Yes, yes I am Aeris’s real father.” He said. “But the Turks killed you! You’re dead!” said Cloud confused. “Oh yes you’re quite right I am dead but the Turks didn’t kill me” as Ghast saw the uncomprehending faces of Tifa and Cloud he said “wait I shall explain why I am here and how I got to be”.

“Cloud you and Tifa both saw the videos that were in my house near the icicle inn?” Cloud and Tifa nodded “good” he continued “well in the end you saw how the Turks came after my wife and baby. Well instead of killing me they wounded me severely and left me for dead to busy to bother with me for my wife had escaped. Our neighbor next door heard the commotion and ran over to my house only to find me bleeding almost dead. They took me to a hospital and I eventually recovered. I found that my wife had left so I desperately tried to trace her. In the end I found that she had gone to Midagar. I had hoped that my search was over and that I could be with her once again. But when I reached Midagar my hope was shattered. A man at the train station said he saw a woman named Ifalna here a few months ago. “She had the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. They were such a beautiful green and she had a baby that had the same eyes as well,” he said. “But the mother died. She died right there on the steps that lead up to the train,” he said. All hope within me died. “And the baby?” I asked he said that a woman had taking the baby at the wish of her mother. I thanked the man and left. I saw her one day, that women, with my daughter now about a 4 years old. The child saw me but held no recognition in her eye she reached out to her mother who took her hand and they walked away. My beloved wife Ifalna dead and my baby gone. I decided to leave Aeris in the care of that woman for if I tore her away Aeris would lose her foster mother too. I didn’t want to put her through the loss of another mother. So for many years I traveled abroad to many places. But in the end I had no will to live. Over my travels I had raised a Golden Chocobo. I had him take me to KOR where I spent the rest of my days. I died here, and this is where my spirit remains.” The man finished and looked Cloud straight in the eye and said “but that’s not why I’m here, I’m here to give you a message from my daughter. But first let me explain something to you so you may understand better why Aeris told you to come here. You see ghosts like me and Aeris can manifest ourselves usually only near the place we die. It cost Aeris a vast amount of energy to contact you on the Highwind. And the she saw that you thought that her manifestation was just a dream so she visited Marlene, but, in your dream she told you to come to KOR for her energy had been drained and she could not explain herself. You are to go to where Aeris died and she say there you will find all your answers.” The old man then stood up turned around and walked through the wall again. Cloud leaped to his feet and tried to follow him but only encountered rock. He said “Wait why didn’t Aeris just tell me to go to the Ancient's city at first?” he heard a voice whisper softly “to prepare you” “prepare me for what?” yelled Cloud. When it was apparent he would get no answer he fell to his knees and for the first time in a long time he cried. As Tifa saw Cloud fall to his knees and begin to cry she ran up to him and sank on her knees and held him in her arms. Cloud let his head fall on her shoulder and let his tears fall unheeded.

After a while Cloud stopped and slowly stood up. “Tifa I’m sorry I shou- he got cut off by Tifa who said “its alright Cloud I understand” she then got up from her knees. Cloud looked at her eye to eye neither lovingly, nor madly, he then turned and walked out of the cave. She looked at his retreating back and whispered “Cloud…” She then walked after him her own tears falling.

When she reached Cloud, she had stopped crying and he had already saddled Meka. As he climbed aboard Tifa asked, “Are we going to the Ancient’s City?” Cloud shook his head and said, “No, first we are going back to Kalm I need to talk to everyone there” Tifa nodded and climbed on Meka behind Cloud and they left for Kalm.

When everyone had finished greeting Tifa and Cloud, Tifa noticed that Yuffie was missing. “Where is Yuffie?” she asked. Barret smiled and said “Well about a day after you guys left Reeve stopped by and said his last farewells, its seems he decided to go around the world a bit and see if he could find what he wanted in life. And well, Yuffie decided to go with him.” “I feel sorry for the poor schmuck,” said Cid kidding. Tifa smiled and said, “I hope they get along” “Ha! There is no problem of that!” said Barret “she gave him such a kiss when she saw him that he couldn’t speak for a few minutes!” he and Cid laughed remembering. “Never thought I’d be sorry to see her go” said Red. Vincent then ventured to ask, “What happened at KOR?” Tifa and Cloud stopped smiling and looked at Vincent (maa! Vincent always spoils happy moments like that!) After Cid gave Vincent a kick in the shin, Everyone turned to Cloud expectedly. Cloud had everyone sit down on the floor and told them what happened at KOR, about everything, expect for the part where he had cried. “So then were goin to the Ancient’s city!” said Barret. Cloud shook his head saying “No” as Barret opened his mouth to protest Cloud cut him off. “Barret remember that the Highwind crashed and we can’t get to the city. And Meka is our only transportation there. Tifa and I are going.” “But we could all go on boat up to Bone Village!” Cloud said “that will take to long, Tifa and me are going tomorrow”. Barret looked dejected and scuffed the floor with his finger and said, “what are we going to do then?” Tifa went to Cloud and indicated he should stand up. She went with him to a corner and they began whispering. Tifa then went back to where everyone was seated and said, “You all don’t have to stay with us. We’ve saved the planet for Christ Sakes! That’s enough for you to all do! You all can go on to live your own lives now!” Everyone began to loudly object saying that they needed to stick together and such. “Shut up!” Tifa yelled. When everyone had quieted down she continued “Barret have you forgotten about Marlene?” she said indicating the small figure sitting next to Barret holding onto his good arm. “You need to stay with her and take care of her! You should get a job and a house somewhere so she can grow up normally and go to school, she is your first priority now Barret.” Barret looked at Marlene who smiled at him and nodded in agreement. Tifa turned to Cid and said, “Have you forgotten about Shera? She saved your life twice, and she loves you! And I know you love her too!” “Is it that obvious?” said Cid looking sheepish. Tifa nodded then continued “She needs you and you need her, you should stay with her Cid” Cid scratched his head and nodded. Tifa then went on “Red, I know it’s hard for you since your grandfather died but his death also affected the people of your village as well. And the death of Bugenhagen was even harder on them. They trust you the most. You should go home and take care of your people. Red nodded and let himself get a scratch behind the ear from Marlene. She then turned to Vincent. "Vincent, you do love Lucrecia with all your soul don’t you?” Vincent nodded “Well, we all know that she loved Sephiroth, her son, very much, even though he was evil. She needs you now that he is dead, she still loves you but her grief has overcome all other emotions.” Vincent leaned back against the wall and fell into deep thought. Tifa turned back to Cid and Barret and continued “Reeve and Yuffie found they liked each others company and I’m happy for them. They moved on and so should all of you”. Barret looked up at Tifa and said “but what about you?” “My place is with Cloud” she replied. She looked into everyone’s eyes for a moment then went down the stairs.

Over the next week Cloud and Tifa stayed at Kalm. By the end of the week everyone had taken her advice and left. Everyone but Vincent left saying goodbye. Vincent just stole away one night and hasn’t been seen since. Finally Tifa and Cloud left for the Ancient’s city. Instead of having to go through Bone village as they had last time, Meka took them up to the entrance of the Shell City. As they walked along the shell path, they paused and looked at the city. There were many pools of lifestream everywhere, and Cloud realized something “Tifa, remember how the lifestream engulfed the Meteor?” Tifa nodded “well I believe that this is one of the places the lifestream came from. I’ve heard that a large amount flowed out of Mideel. The same must have gone for here. Cloud led Meka and Tifa carefully around the pools, they both remembered how Cloud had almost died from Mako poisoning the last time.

They headed throughout the city and dismounted as they came to the lake where Cloud had put Aeris’s body. They both stood out staring over the lake and it was eerily quiet. Tifa half expected Aeris to come walking out of the lake. Cloud was startled as Meka gave him a shove in the shoulder. He unsaddled her and let her roam about. He then turned around and headed to the shell building With Tifa close behind.

They went down the spiral until they reached the fish. Cloud stuck out his hand and expected to feel the fish but instead his hand passed through. Convinced he then stepped through it. As Tifa saw Cloud disappear she reached out as well and expected to feel it but as Cloud her hand passed through she then stepped through. As they came into view of the circular thingie (I can’t figure out a name for that thing where Aeris was when she died. A gazebo? Balcony?) They noticed several things had changed since they had last been here. On the spot where Aeris had died a pool of Mako had emerged; Tifa stared at it with misgivings. As Cloud began to jump across the stones he stopped and looked down into the water. He took off his shirt, shoes, and his sword and dived into the water. Cloud opened his eyes and found he could see he swam about and finally he saw what he was looking for. He drew in a breath as he saw Holy and instead of taking in water as he had supposed, he could breathe (Authors note: read my last paragraph to find out more about this water) He picked up Holy and swam back up to the surface. When he got out of the water he neared the pool of Mako that was were Aeris had died. He stood there looking down at it. He looked deep into the pool and saw Aeris praying. Aeris looked up at him a smiled. Cloud saw a dark shadow looming treacherously over her with a long sword Cloud cried out “Aeris! Look out!” and took a step forward and tumbled into darkness.

“CLOUD!” Screamed Tifa as she saw him fall into the Mako pool. She jumped the stones and ran towards the pool and looked down into it she saw him sinking slowly to the depths of the planet. Cloud had fallen into the lifestream again. Tifa fell to her knees and began to cry uncontrollably. “Cloud!” she wailed in sheer anguish. “CLOUD! Oh god Cloud…”

Cloud opened his eyes and found himself in the Sleeping forest again. He looked around and saw Aeris walking towards him. “Aeris!” he cried and rushed forth to embrace her. He let her go and asked her “why have you led me around on a wild goose chase? Why didn’t you just tell me to go to the Ancient’s City at first?” “Cloud I sent you to KOR at first because I wanted you to realize something but you’re too thick headed” she said tapped Cloud on the head with her forefinger. Cloud looked hurt but Aeris ignored that and went on “Cloud I know you love me and I love you but I’m dead and nothing you can so can change that. Everyone but you has moved on. Yuffie and Reeve were lucky enough to find each other. Barret has a job now to help raise and take care of Marlene. You must move on too.” Cloud looked at her with hurt eyes for he knew that what she said was the truth. “Cloud don’t you know that Tifa loves you with all her heart? Here let me show you something.” She led him over to a pool and sat down next to it. Cloud came and sat down next to her. She waved her hand over the pool and it shimmered. Cloud looked into the pool and saw a picture form there. It was of him an Tifa. He saw that night so long ago, the two of them on the well, him promising her to return if she was ever in trouble. He saw himself pick Tifa up after Sephiroth ad cut her and gingerly set her down out of harms way. He saw the night when all their friends had gone home to think about what they wanted to do, save the planet or watch it die, the two of them sharing a night together under the stars (I’m not about to put what I was thinking in this story! This is a G-rated fic!^_^). He saw himself placing Tifa on Meka and how Tifa watched him fondly as he strode away. He saw Tifa embracing him as he cried and how she cried as he left the cave. He saw her in Kalm saying to the others “My place is with Cloud”. He looked at Tifa as she fell to her knees and cried as she watched his body sank down into the lifestream. Aeris touched the surface of the water making it ripple. When it settled he saw Tifa on the well in Nibelheim fingering the materia Cloud had dropped before he had fallen into the lifestream, Holy. Aeris waved her hand over the pool again and Tifa’s body was surrounded in a golden light. Tifa turned translucent and Cloud saw a small embryo about as large as his fist in her. “Mine…..?” breathed Cloud. Aeris nodded and said “that night under the Highwind, she conceived.” “How much time has passed since I’ve fell in?” asked Cloud. “You’ve been gone at least a week, it took me a while to locate you in the lifestream” she then continued saying “after you had fallen in Tifa left and rode back on Meka. She let Meka go though so you can call her to you” Cloud opened his mouth to speak but Aeris cut him off “do you remember what Bugenhagen said about the lifestream and how when something dies they contribute to the making of a new life form?” Cloud nodded “Well the lifestream has been calling to me for a while to so this but I’ve resisted for I first needed to talk to you. But now I will soon go and become part of some newborn tree, animal, or human. I must go now Cloud. Wake up”.

Cloud suddenly opened his eyes and found himself floating in the lifestream. He looked around and saw a light in the distance. He swam towards it.

Tifa sat on the well that she and Cloud had been on such a long time ago. She rolled the materia hold in between her palms and prayed for Cloud to return. She sighed knowing it was hopeless. She put the materia away and looked up at the stars. She heard someone coming close and turned to look she saw Meka coming towards her, with Cloud on her back. Tifa’s eyes filled with tears as she ran to Cloud. Cloud jumped off Meka and enfolded Tifa in a loving embrace. He whispered in her ear “I’ll never leave your side again, Tifa will you marry me?” Tifa looked into his Mako eyes and whispered “yes”.

Epilogue

Barret had taken up residence in Kalm and had taken a job in the items shop so he could pay for Marlene’s schoolin. He visited Cloud and Tifa regularly and brought Marlene with him wherever he went as he had sworn to himself and her that he wouldn’t leave her alone again until she was 18 (much to Marlene’s horror as she said “even to the potty?”)

Yuffie and Reeve were now traveling around the world searching for rare materia. Cloud had long since given Yuffie all his materia as he had promised except of course for Holy. Recently they had sent a postcard saying they were married in Costa Del Sol one night, and were now visiting Yuffie’s father to tell him the good news (But Cloud didn’t expect him to take it so well).

Cid had returned to Rocket town and was busy building a new rocket ship to head into outer space again now that he sold a mastered Ice materia to finance it. He was almost done building it and it was completely safe this time thanks to his wife, Shera.

Red had returned to Cosmo Canyon and stayed with his people and was busy burying himself in books on finding a way to turn his father back from stone.

No one had seen Vincent ever since that day he had left Kalm. Its was presumed by all that he had took Tifa’s advice and was searching for Lucrecia.

Cloud and Tifa had taken up residence in the Nibelheim mansion, and lived there with their newborn daughter. When Cloud had first seen her he had had a look of surprise on his face which melted into understanding. He reached into his pocket and pulled out Holy. He had had it set into a necklace. He placed it about his daughter’s neck. When Barret had come with Marlene to see that baby he was very surprised. He knew that the father of the child was a Blond and the mother had black hair and here he was looking at a little girl with rich brown hair. Her eyes were a deep green, whilst her father’s were blue and the mothers were brown. When Barret asked Tifa and Cloud what they had named her he wasn’t surprised when they both said together “Aeris…”

THE END

Yes! I finally finished! This took me a week to complete and now I have a blister on my middle finger. (I first wrote this by hand then I typed it) If you saw the written version you wouldn’t have been able to read it! My handwriting is very sloppy. And if you think 7 days is way to long to write a 6-page story then I suggest you try it! And this was finished on 10/15/99. Besides I had school and stuff all week I can’t devote all my time to writing a story. Well this was my first try at a serious fic as I think my first 3 fics were not that funny. I haven’t even tried put them on the net. Well if you really hated it or really liked my story and have suggestions or complaints write me here meka@shinra.org I plan to make a fic about Vincent but I might just get too lazy to do so. Oh and about that breathable water, I learned in science class that there is water with enough oxygen in it to breathe. You draw the water into your lungs but in the air inside keeps ya alive! Kewl huh? But people don’t usually use it because what is everyone’s reaction if you’re under water and u draw water into your lungs? You panic! This has caused a heart attack or two and besides it costs money to make that kinda water. Hey! I just gave you a science lesson! I taught you something! Ha! I love it when I do that! Muhahahaha! Well I’ll just go for my daily psychiatrist appointment now bye!

Ciao,
Meka
