The moon was glowing with a golden tint so bright that it illuminated the sky and seemed to have a life of its own. The stars around could not compare with its brilliance and seemed to struggle vainly to shine just as bright. Yet nothing could compare to its rich brilliance. It was this radiant beauty that captivated the ruby eyes below it.
Quistis was in the "secret area" fully enjoying gazing at the moon. Even deep in the center of the Training Facility she could still hear the music being blasted from across the Garden. Cid insisted on having a huge celebration after the defeat of Ultimecia, and with the help of Selphie and her Garden Festival Committee he was able to do just that.
Everyone was having a blast. Quistis had been enjoying herself as well. Yet as the night drew forth she had gotten tired of being surrounded by so many people and had finally slipped away. She was never one for crowds, in faiful girl named Rinoa waltzed into his life. Rinoa had filled the space and emptiness inside him with only a smile. What Quistis had spent her entire life trying, Rinoa was able to achieve by just being there. She'd won his heart and it was hers for good and forever.
Not that Quistis was bitter about it. Oh no, her bitterness had faded away when she saw Squall's loving face upon saving Rinoa from Adel. When she saw that look in his eyes she understood that they belonged to each other and that none other than the Sisters of Fate themselves chose their destinies. No, bitterness was definitely not running through Quistis' blood anymore. What bothered her was something different completely.
She wasn't sure if she even knew Squall at all. He had been so different from any other student, or person, she had ever met. It was this that had intrigued her the most. She would spend hours upon hours just looking at him in class and wondering what he thought about, what he cared about, what it was toved on and it was well beyond time for her to do the same. Her nighttime darkened heart needed sunshine. He had his, and she'd be damned if she couldn't find hers. She smiled and let a tear slip down her pale cheek. Softly brushing it away she let herself breathe and finally live.
