My Theory About Why I Think The Last Three Seasons of Sailor Moon Won't Be Dubbed

You enter the room, and Haruka immediately stands up to greet you. "Kobanwa, otaku-san. It is nice to meet you. This page tells why DiC won't dub the rest of Sailor Moon. That makes me so MAD!" she growled, clenching her fists. Then she grins sheepishly. "Sorry, I got carried away. Michiru would like to be here, but she is busy in the fanart gallery now, and the Starlights are busy too. Anyway, here is the theory, straight from Katie's mouth."

Most of the first two seasons of Sailor Moon have been dubbed, but not the last three seasons. I have a theory why. I think it's because of Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and the Sailor Starlights. In case you didn't know, they are characters in the last three seasons. Uranus (Tenoh Haruka) and Neptune (Kaioh Michiru) are lesbians and in love with each other, and the Starlights are three guys who transform into female Sailor Senshi. The company in charge of the dubbing (DiC? Cartoon Network?) was probably afraid that if the last three seasons were dubbed, North American fans who disapproved of homosexuality and transsexuality (there are a lot of them out there) would become disgusted and stop watching the show, causing the ratings to drop dramatically. I'm not saying any company connected with Sailor Moon is homophobic, I'm only saying they know they could possibly get low ratings because of these characters.

The basis of my theory is this - the fact that in the original series, Zoisite is male, but in the English-dubbed series, Zoisite is female. In the original series, Malachite and Zoisite are a gay couple, and I think that when Sailor Moon was dubbed, they changed Zoisite's sex so the show wouldn't cause controversy. However, they can't change Haruka's sex because there is no such thing as a male Sailor Senshi. So that is why I think it will be extremely difficult to get the last three seasons dubbed. I really want to see them (from what I've heard, these are all really cool characters) but it doesn't look very likely.
