VII. Armament
Cannons:
- 4
x Vickers 406mm (16 inch) autoloading, electromagnetic rail cannon:
These large weapons form the backbone of
the offensive might of the Godzilla. Each cannon can hurl a 1200 kg
terminal self-guiding shell at speeds of up to 200 kps.
Sustained firing rate is one shot / 3 seconds, maximum range about 60km in
standard posture. If the Godzilla is standing on a inclined surface, or is
bending over backwards, the maximum cannon angle will increase and at the
optimum angle of 45 degrees the maximum range exceeds 120km. Each cannon
has its own independent magazine of 40 rounds.
- 2 x Krupp PBC-19 particle
beam cannon: The particle beam cannons serve to increase
battlefield endurance as they do not rely on ammunition to provide firepower.
Each cannon can fire a 600 MJ blast of particle energy up to 15 times/minute
with great accuracy at ranges of up to 100 km. Can also discharge at
half-intensity but at double the normal rate of fire. Drawing power from the
mecha's power system, the particle beam has effectively unlimited ammunition
they are mounted above the four main cannons.
Missiles:
- 6 x Single Tube LRM
Launchers: Built into
the arms, each tube can carry 6 MPM-17
Scimitars long range (280 km) missiles with a speed of Mach 8.1, guided
by a combined IIR and active/passive radar seeker.
VIII. Armor
The armor on the Godzilla is the
heaviest ever mounted on a mecha. The armor on most of the Godzilla is
composed of a standard lunarium laminar developed after the Third Robotech War.
Aside from the good protection provided against projectiles, missiles, and other
kinetic weapons, this armor is also resistant to plasma globes (annihilation
discs), lasers, and fair against, particle guns too, owing to the fact that the
armor can flake off and evaporate in layers under fire from such high-energy
weapons, taking much of the weapon's energy and converting it into the latent
heat of sublimation in the armor. The armor stops all small arms fire, and has
good resistance to all weapons commonly mounted on combat mecha.
The armor on the front surface is
composed of a standard lunarium laminar reinforced by a depleted Uranium mesh on
the outer plate. More dense than the standard armor, this armor was designed to
defeat projectiles striking the forward surfaces of main battle vehicles, and is
also effective against beam weapons. The armor stops all small arms, heavy
infantry weapons fire, and light and medium mecha-mounted weaponry, and provides
excellent resistance to heavy mecha-mounted weaponry, such as the VHT's 120mm
smoothbore shells. Indeed, no known military has a mecha-mounted weapon that can
reliably penetrate the strongest portions of this mecha's armor. Only the
hatches, gun-mounts, and other small targets are especially vulnerable, and the
armor is nearly invulnerable from the forward quarter.
The Godzilla provides full protection
from nuclear, biological, and chemical hazards, using an overpressure cockpit
environment activated by radiation and hazardous chemical sensors, or manually
when biological warfare conditions are anticipated. The internal consumables
supplies can provide atmosphere for one week maximum.
