(*) Terran designation. The Tirolian designers considered
the sensors part of the design and did not assign separate designations for
these systems.
VII. Armament
Cannons
- 4 x Zanscare
RA-10 65mm tachyon cannons: To provide additional close range fire
power the Jagd Doga sports a set of tachyon cannons on its shield. In
addition to the wide arc of fire thank to the shield mounting, it also means
the Jagd Doga can defend against incoming attacks while returning fire in
the same direction. Each of the four cannon can fire a 100 MJ burst
every four seconds allowing for a constant rate of fire of once every
second, or any combination therein. The cannon have a maximum
effective range of 10 km and are hooked into the reactors giving them nearly
limitless ammunition.
Hand Held Weapons
- 1
x Zanscare TA-10 single-barreled 120mm tachyon rifle w/ grenade launcher: The
Jagd Doga mounts a conventional tachyon rifle in addition to its other high
tech weapons. The TA-10 shares several features in common with the
TA-8 including the grenade launcher mounted beneath the rifle. The
launcher can fire what amounts a dumb fire mini missile with a range of 2
km. The launcher comes with only one grenade. The rifle itself
is very powerful firing up to 400 MJ bursts every second. Another
advancement made on this weapon is the oversize magazine cel which carries
enough energy for a total of 60 bursts at maximum output. This has
greatly increased the combat potential of the Jagd Doga by increasing combat
endurance. The Jagd Doga usually mounts two extra magazine cels on its
waist armor.
- or
(post 2065) 1 x Zanscare TA-12 quad-barreled 120mm gatling
tachyon cannon: During the 4th Robotech War the Jagd Doga
constantly found itself outnumbered. It was here where the main
weakness of the tachyon rifle became overly apparent, its rate of
fire. While more conventional weapons were weaker, they could fire
faster allowing them to pin down enemy mecha. Tirolian designers began
to develop a rapid firing variant of the standard tachyon rifle.
However they were unable to produce any results that proved effective in
combat. In the end the solution was to basically add additional
barrels and firing chambers to improve rate of fire. Thus the gatling
tachyon cannon was born. This cannon however proved very expensive,
but it was worth every penny. Each barrel could fire a 350 MJ burst
every second so in full automatic it could fire four times each
second. With such a volume of fire put out the number of kills per
sortie rose dramatically. The rifle also comes with a foldable stock
for improved accuracy and stability when firing. The power cel used by
the TA-12 carries enough ammunition for 400 shots total. Unfortunately
the rifle cannot change power cels and once it is empty, it must be
recharged back at base.
Melee Weapon
- 1
x Zanscare 1.2 MW tachyon beam saber w/heat knife: This is the beam saber
which serves as the main melee weapon of the mobile suit. The beam
saber only contains enough energy and tachyons for about 60 seconds of
continuous use. When not in use, the beam sabers are stored in the backpack
of the mecha, where they are recharged by the reactor. The Jagd Doga can
switch the beam saber on and off while holding it, in order to conserve
power. Once totally depleted it takes 15 minutes for a saber to recharge to
full capacity. This model saber however carries a heat knife with it
designed to be used when a quick strike is needed and there isn't time to
draw the full beam saber and serve as back up melee weapon when the beam
saber cannot be used due to damage or lack of power. The Jagd Doga
carries one saber mounted on its waist.
Remote Weapons
- 6
x Ortek'nar EB-4 Remote Funnels: A refinement of the larger and more expensive bits
used on the MA-01
Elmeth. These weapons, dubbed funnels are half as
large as the bits used on the Elmeth and twice as fast. However there
are drawbacks. As the funnels do not use an onboard reactor they must
return often to refuel with additional reaction mass which is drawn from the
suits own supply. Secondly, as the cannon is no longer hooked directly
to a reactor they must be recharged often as well because there is only
enough energy stored onboard for ten bursts from each funnel. These
funnels are cheaper to produce however making them suited to a more
widespread production such as the Jagd Doga. Each funnel sports a
tachyon cannon which can fire a 400 MJ burst 20 km every three seconds.
The number of bits able to be deployed at once varies from pilot to pilot
with the average being four. The six funnels are stored on the
shoulders when not in use.
Missiles
- 2 x Triple Missile Launchers:
This weapon provides the Jagd Doga with an excellent short
range attack useful in the first clash of mecha. These launchers each
carry three short range missiles mounted on either forearm of the
suit.
VIII. Armor
The armor on the MS-26 is a low-mass lunarium titanium composite plating that
is the standard for Tirolian mobile suits known as Gundarium Alpha. Aside from
the superb protection provided against projectiles, missiles, and other kinetic
weapons, this armor is also fairly resistant to plasma globes (annihilation
discs), lasers, and to a lesser extent, particle guns too, owing to the fact
that the armor can flake off and evaporate in layers under fire from such
high-energy weapons, taking much of the weapon's energy and converting it into
the latent heat of sublimation in the armor. The armor stops all small arms
fire, and has good resistance to all weapons commonly mounted on combat mecha.
This new armor is also much lighter than most armors weighing a full two thirds
less than the traditional armor's mounted on mecha, but unlike its Terran
counterpart, this version is much easier to manufacture and therefore much
cheaper costing as much as regular armor.
The Jagd Doga provides full protection from nuclear, biological, and chemical
hazards, using an overpressure cockpit environment activated by radiation and
hazardous chemical sensors, or manually when biological warfare conditions are
anticipated. The internal consumables supplies can provide atmosphere for three
days maximum.
