Hey, if your here your pretty interested in what we are and what we've done... So, here it is.... the History of Tokyo Cinema!!! |
Tokyo Cinema was started March of 1999, but we didn't
have a name yet. Greg, our club President advertised a
meeting for anyone interested, and Adam and James showed
up (along with a few other anime fans). Adam and Greg
both envisioned showing anime on a big scale... and with
some work and time, we had an established club.... In the begining we were called WCC Anime, after Washtenaw Community College, the base for the club. We had our first showing in March, advertising was limited and word of mouth only, we had 12 people show up.... Our second showing, exactly a month later had a turn out of 70 people, and marked the first of a series of color posters designed by Adam. This showing was in the la lecture hall before the remodel, and was the first time a vendor came out and set up, selling anime merchandice at the source. Our later showings ensued, not much happening till after the Summer of '99. We skipped a month, pooling our resources and reorganising the club and reformed under the title 'Tokyo Cinema', a more centralized version of the former club. Well, that about sums up our history for right now... as it happens it shall be added.... |
