ST. LAWRENCE OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION SLOBA

First, it is a conduit of information and newsletters from St.Lawrence Old Boys' Association (SLOBA). That is, subscribers get the latest information about the activities of SLOBA via email. It is also a "Discussion Listserver"for Lawrencians. It allows one to listen in, and participate in discussions regarding any topic that is of interest to Lawrencians much like newsgroups or usegroups but it uses emails instead of newsreaders. By a single reply to sloba_list email, you can make your views and concerns about the activities of SLOBA known to both the SLOBA governing body as well as the all the subscribers of sloba_list. Every Lawrencian is welcome to join. It is free (no charge), and unmoderated. sloba_list is not currently funded by SLOBA and is maintained by voluntary effort.

The legal stuff:

You join this list at your own risk. If anything happens to you or your computer or your dog or any person or things animate and inanimate not mentioned above, as a result of joining this group, SLOBA will not be responsible. Each subscriber is responsible for his messages and their contents.

How does it work:

It is an experimental rudimentary List-Server. It maintains a list of current subscribers and forwards all the emails to them.

To subscribe:

Click here to send an email with SUBSCRIBE as the subject. The body can be blank. You will get an automated confirmation. Do not try to unsubscribe before you get this confirmation.

How to start a new thread:

You can start a new email to sloba_list members. Send it to: sloba list and you can always hit the reply button and change the subject.

To unsubscribe:

If and when you want to stop getting these emails from fellow SLOBA members. Send an email to sloba list with UNSUBSCRIBE as the subject. The body can be blank. You will get an automated confirmation. Do not try to subscribe again before you get this confirmation.

Last but not the least:

• The writing and maintaining of the List-server is done on voluntary efforts during free time. Since the machine is not constantly connected to the net, there may be delays in sending your posts and replies (but not more than 24 hours). Or it may fail completely as there is no backup machine. (It's a home computer.)

• sloba_list currently does not support attachments. If you send an attachment it will be deleted before being forwarded to the subscribers.

• You have to use the same email account to unsubscribe, as you did for subscribing. Also if you use a different email program or have changed the spelling of your name since subscribing, auto-unsubscribe may not work. In that case, send a regular message to SLOBA and when we have time, we shall try to improve these shortcomings if the traffic gets heavy.
