Rattata is a tuff pokemon. Shan found him by using her power to reach out for help. After Shan had been bitten by one of the Ratakates Rattata fought all three off to save her. Shan asked Rattata if he wanted to join her captured him in a pokeball. Rattata is powerful for a Ratata, even Joy at the Viridian City Pokemon center was surprised when Shan told her that Rattata had fought of an Ekans. Rattata was severally hurt in the battle with Team rocket and as a result is missing a part of his ear. Rattata seems to know when Shan is in danger, and will warn her if she is.
