North American Shotokan Karate Association
History
The North American Shotokan Karate Association (NASKA) is an organization that promotes the study of Shotokan karate. Under the guidance of our Chief Instructor, Yasuo Sakurai, our member clubs seek to uphold the ideals and technical standards of the Japan Karate Association.
Founded in 1990, NASKA has earned an enviable reputation for maintaining traditional values while thriving in the contemporary world. Innovations from the latest JKA Masters Clinics in Japan are transmitted through Sakurai Shihan to our dojo instructors and from them to all of our members. Our members compete successfully in tournaments at the domestic and international level. NASKA training camps attract participants from thousands of kilometres away. Our yudansha are known for their expertise in tournament officiating and administration and for their prominent role in the promulgation of karate to the general public.
