Simon Fraser University

Here's a pet project of mine's that I've been sort of dabbing on during my free time. I've noticed that there weren't really a lot of pics of SFU on the 'net so I decided to take a whole bunch myself. Sorta like show the world what's the school is like ... both inside and out. I hope to post up more as soon as possible.

Applied Science Building - East Enterance

The first building that greets most students of SFU once they park their cars at B-Lot is the Applied Science Building. The East enterance is shown in the photograph. The doors that can be seen in the photograph are of interest because they are the sensor activated kind ... supposedly. They have a habit of either closing early and trapping unsuspecting and tired students or they do not open at all so unsuspecting and tried students run nose first into them. The Applied Science Building contains a complex and advanced computer lab as well as a student lounge with some of the cheapest pop avialable ($0.75 for a 355 mL. can). As well, there is a fairly popular study area within the building as the skylights makes it bright, airy and relaxing. The most popular feature of the Applied Science Building is the long and wide hallway that connects it to the Academic Quadrangle.

Academic Quadrangle - Exterior Shot 01

This photograph was taken on the path that leads from the North bus loop to the Academic Quadrangle. The ominous building to the right of the photograph is the 5000, 6000 and 7000 levels of the Academic Quadrangle. To the left of the photograph is Applied Science Building which sits lower because it's at the bottom of a hill. There are two visible paths; the left one takes you down the hill to an enterance at the South-East corner of the Academic Quadrangle. The right path takes you to the South side of Academic Quadrangle where there exisits the ONLY 4000 level building. On the other 3 sides of the Academic Quadrangle, there are NO OTHER 4000 level buildings. The black box is of interest because there are numerous ones placed strategically around the school. Inside, it contains something worth their weight in gold up at SFU ... road salt.

Academic Quadrangle - Exterior Shot 02

Like the above, this photograph was taken on the same path but this time several meters forward so that I'm beyond the East side of the Academic Quadrangle. Like I said before, there are no 4000 level buildings; just empty space and support structures two of which can be seen framing the sides of the photograph. If you continue down this path in the direction the camera is faced (East), you will first encounter a building to the left called Strand Hall. This is the place you go to activatge your student computing account and it supposedly houses all of SFU's computer servers. Continue heading East and you will encounter the Comtemporary Arts Building to the right and the North bus loop to the left.
