Missing Episodes
These are the episodes that were aired in Japan but not in North America.
Episode 2: "I'll punish you! The fortune house is a monster's mansion"
[No English Episode Aired]
This episode was dropped from the English version. Presumably, some content was deemed
inappropriate for children by North American standards. Melvin is in love with Serena,
but doesn't know what to do about it. Molly suggests that he visit a fortune-teller.
However, the new fortune-teller in the neighbourhood is actually one of Jadeite's
demons. She is "hypnotising" children to run wild, allowing Jadeite to gather the "energy
of rebellious youth". Under this influence, Melvin insults his school teacher and lifts
up her dress. He also tries to kiss Serena. Luckily, Serena notices the connection between
the misbehaviour and the children having visited the new fortune-teller, so she turns into
Sailor Moon and defeats the demon.
Episode 5: "Youma no kaori! Shaneera ha aiwo nusumu"
[No English Episode Aired]
This episode sounds a little silly. Also, at various points in the show, Sammy kicks Luna and Serena slaps Sammy. Possibly, it
was simpler to drop the whole episode than to edit this out.
In this episode, Jadeite opens a pet shop where his demon sells Shaneera, pets which hypnotise their owners, causing them to
ignore everything except for their pet. The episode begins with the fact that Sammy hates cats and he and Serena are
arguing about whether Luna can stay. When Sammy tells his friend Mika (remember her from "Dangerous Dollies"), about this,
she suggests that he get his own pet and so they visit the store - run by Jadeite's demon.
Eventually, Luna figures out what is going on with the hypnotic pets and sends Sailor Moon to the pet store. The store clerk
turns into a demon and turns all the kids into monsters and they attack Sailor Moon. She runs and hides and tells Luna that
since Tuxedo Mask always comes to save her, this time she's just going to wait for him to come! But Luna insists that she can't
depend on other people like that. Sailor Moon protests that if she uses the Moon Tiara Action (Magic) she will hurt the kids,
including Sammy who is amongst them. Luna tells her to instead use the Moon Tiara Stardust; this is just like the regular Moon
Tiara Action, except the Tiara sprinkles Stardust which turns the kids back to normal. Then Sailor Moon fights the demon and
defeats it by attacking its weak spot at the base of its tail.
Afterwards, Sammy thinks Sailor Moon is Sailor V and asks for her autograph. Sailor Moon explains that she isn't Sailor V but
is Sailor Moon. Shingo says "Since you're cute, it doesn't matter", and asks for Sailor Moon's autograph. Sailor Moon tells
him that he should be nice to Luna, and the next morning we see Sammy feeding her.
Episode 6: "Mamore koino melody! Usagi ha cupid"
[No English Episode Aired]
In this episode, Serena uses the disguise power to turn into an adult and go into a night club! Apparently her outfit makes her
look like a hooker. I guess that's why they omitted it from the English version, although I don't think anything very exciting
actually happens in the night-club.
Episode 20: Natsuyo Umiyo Seishunyo! Omakeni yuureimoyo
[No English episode aired]
This episode sounds really strange, but I sure wish they had aired it; Serena, Amy and Raye go to the beach! On their vacation
they stay at a "haunted" house where a girl with strange powers lives.
Episode 42: Sailor Venus no kako, Minako no hiren [Sailor Venus' past, Mina's blighted love]
[No English Episode Aired]
I don't know why this episode was cut.
Malachite tells Beryl that he has found someone who knows the identity of Sailor V and that Sailor V probably knows how to
find the Sailor Scouts.
Mina visits a woman named Katarina who asks her if she can help Sailor V once again, and if she knows the Sailor Scouts. But
Mina says she doesn't want to get Katarina involved. Meanwhile, Artemis asks Luna and Serena to help him find Mina, who
disappeared after receiving an unexpected phone call. They find Mina by the seaside but are attacked by Katarina, who has
been turned into a demon by Malachite. The demon is too strong for just the two of them and they escape in a boat.
As they travel, Mina explains. She used to live in London and once, as Sailor V, she saved a little girl who had been taken
hostage. She became friends with Katarina, the police officer whom she had helped in that case. She considered Katarina her
big sister. She even introduced her to Alan, an older boy that Mina was in love with. One time, Sailor V was caught in an explosion and Katarina thought that she was killed. Mina had actually escaped, but then
she saw Katarina and Alan together and decided to leave so that she wouldn't interfere.
After hearing the story Sailor Moon gets very mad and decides to stop fleeing and destroy the demon. But Sailor Venus sees
the demon has a locket she had given Katarina as a present, and tells Sailor Moon not to. "But she stole your boyfriend!" Sailor
Moon protests. Sailor Venus breaks down in tears and says that Katarina is the one that Alan loves. So Sailor Moon uses her
Crescent Wand to turn the demon back into Katarina. Katarina apologises to Mina, saying that she didn't think of Mina's
feelings because she thought Mina was just a child.
Katarina leaves and Mina says she hopes that Alan and her "big sister" will be happy.
