What's up?
Bad new SlamDunk fans...Hanamichi and the gang will be gone, hopefully only for awhile, because
ABC5 has mysteriously plugged the plug on this show. If anyone out there knows why, please tell
us heartbroken SlamDunk fans. *sigh*
WELCOME! Tuloy po kayo! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your stay!
SlamDunk is produced and distributed in the Philippines by Sterling Animation International. The story is about the hardcourt escapdes of the endearingly hapless Hanamichi and his quest to win the game and the girl. The show even gets to sneak in a few basketball tips and lessons.
The show has undergone some production changes. It is now handled by a new dubbing team, and they have been doing a pretty good job. The characters use their last names now to refer to one another, just just like in the original Japanese. Some of the voice actors though, who are probably not used to saying Japanese words, have a tendency to misprounouce the names sometimes. But, I'm sure this will improve with time. The quality of the sound is also better since the background music no longer drowns out the dialogue which was a big problem with the old dub.

This show is too hilarious for words! Hanamichi's love for troublemaking gives Slamdunk an excuse to use a lot of Tagalog slang w/c makes the wordplay really funny. The voice actors also give their all in their performances and they are able to give life to their characters. Slamdunk is also a refreshing change from all the superhero shows currently on the air. Most of the anime set in the ordinary world w/c were shown in the Phils. were the shojo soap-opera type. Slamdunk is really something new. I think that its one of the best anime shows that have been shown here. I'm one viewer who hopes to see SlamDunk go on for a long time.
FAVE: Hanamichi of course! His arrogance is only equaled by his innocence. He's a goon with a heart of gold. I also like Hanamichi's gang or tropa. They always manage to spice up Hanamichi's games and confrontations.
Pet Peeve: I wish that they'd translate the opening theme into Tagalog already. I'm sick of hearing the music without lyrics. I also can't stand Haruko. She is so dense!
But my biggest peeve now is that SlamDunk is gone!!! Bring it back!!
