Dragonball

Goku
Goku was raised by his grandfather until one morning when he found the house was destroyed, and his grandfather dead. He then lived on his own for a while, until Bulma found him.

Bulma
Bulma is a young girl who's on a quest to find the 7 Dragonballs. On her quest, she meets Goku, who has one of these balls. He refuses to let her have it because it's the last thing he has to remind him of his grandfather. She decides to take him with her, so she can get the ball when she has the other 6.

Master Roshi, The Turtle Hermit
The old man who lives on an island in the middle of nowhere. Roshi is a bit of a lech. He is also the man who trained Goku's grandfather. Roshi is one of the most powerful men in the world at this time. Even though he's older than dirt.

Turtle
Roshi's only companion on the island. Turtle is exactly what his name says, a turtle. He can talk, of coarse, and is a bit of comic releif.

Oolong
Oolong is a perverted little pig that can change his shape. But he can only retain that shape for a short amount of time. He is the terror of one town until Goku and Bulma meet up with him, and discover his secret. That he's not a giant ogre, but a little pig.

Yamcha
AKA, the desert bandit. Yamcha lives in the desert with his companion Poir, and attacks people that come through for their money and Dino-Caps. He also has a severe fear of girls.

Poir
Poir is Yamcha's only friend in the desert, and like Oolong, she can change her shape as well. She dislikes Oolong because he used to toture her in the past.

Emperor Pilaf
Pilaf is a blue, deranged, midget. He has only one goal, to gather all the Dragonballs, and become ruler of the world. He has assistance from his 2 flunkies, Shou and Mai.

Shou
Shou is a dog of some sort. Well, he looks like a dog, but they call him a wolf. He is a ninja that is very stupid. He almost never works alone, Mai and he are partners.

Mai
Not ready yet.

Goku
He's all grown up at the begining of this series, and he has a son. He also married the daughter of the Ox King. (how do you think the kid came into being without a wife? Wait, let's not go there.) His power level is about 100 in the first episode.
Radditz
The second Saiyan (Saiya-jin, whatever, I've lost track of what ever the hell they're called.) to come to earth, Goku being the first. His mission is to find out what happened to Kakerot, and why the earth is still in one peice. He is defeated in a joint effort between Goku and Picollo. Goku is also killed in the effort.
Gohan
The son of Goku, a half Saiyan. At the begining of the series, he is the most powerful being alive on earth, having a power level of 642 I think. Well, over 600 I know. This spooked Radditz a bit, but didn't deter him from continuing with Kakerot's failed mission.
Picollo
A namec from the planet with the same name. He is an enemy of Goku at the begining, but soon teams up with him to defeat Radditz with the "Special Beam Cannon."
