Even with the big kakkoi banner, the page still kind of sucks...

   Revolution ------------>

Minna-san, I know that this page isn't much.  It's really just a little place where I can talk about the talented Jpop artists that I listen to on a regular basis.  Pictures of various groups are in the gallery, Cd reviews are on their own page, and links and webrings are also listed separately.  This is just to help people get interested, and really doesn't serve any other purpose.  Sorry there's so little here right now, there's more coming soon including seiyuu and a few English groups.  Just be patient, ne? ^_^

Every Little Thing

     ELT, as they're more often know, are a great group with an exciting sound that sort of reminds me of a toned-down Two-mix.  Of course, that only helps if you know who Two-mix are. ^_^  The group consists of a keyboardist and a guitarist who's names I can't remember, and don't really want to look up.  They're both really talented, and also quite good looking. (Both are guys ^_-)  The vocalist is named Mochida Kaori.  I really like her voice because it sound melodic without being tight or strained.  I have ELT's Time to Destination album and, thanks to my friend Sayoko, also their Remixes 2 album.  Both are great, and have a lot of my favorite songs on them.  The music style is kind of techno-dancish, but with a happy pop tone.  Get it?  ^_^  My fav ELT songs are:

Time Goes By - Slow, sad, and very pretty
Face the Change - Exciting!
Shapes of Love - Nice, catchy
Hometown - But the remix is better...
Future World - The video is cool too, if you ever see it ^_^

SPEED

     SPEED is one of my favorite groups now.  Even though they don't have the vocal power of most of the singers I like, they're so energetic and cheerful that it's hard to ignore them.  Plus, their voices fit the style of music that they sing in, and they keep getting better anyway.  SPEED has a popular sound, sometimes R and B sounding, other times upbeat, but always very cool!  The group consists of 4 teenage girls who got together and formed a song and dance team:

Shimabukura Hiroko - High but cute and voice, does a lot of the main vocals.  She's the second one to the left. ^_^  Even though she's one of the youngest in the group, she's also one of the tallest.  I think she has a cute personality - She likes basketball, and thinks that she looks like a tamagotchi or a wild bear. ^^;;

Imai Eriko - Definitely the best voice in the group, Eriko is the other lead singer for SPEED.  2nd to the right this time. ^_^  Eriko seems very down to earth, and is my second favorite member.  She has a super nifty nickname (Mikan Sei Jin, meaning tangerine alien) and she likes basketball and short distance running.  Yay!

Uehara Takako - The first one.  I think that she's the prettiest member of SPEED, and very versitile.  She's not the best singer or the best dancer, but she manages to do both anyway.  Taka-chan seems to have a rather mellow personality.  Even the songs on her singles were slow and very un-SPEED-like.  She likes swimming, and thinks she looks like a lamb.  I can see that.  ^_^

Arakaki Hitoe - She's the one on the far right, and my favorite member of SPEED.  Lots of people have said that I look like her.  But I like her because she has an attitude, and because she's the best dancer in the group.  Her single was pretty cool, even though she can't sing well AT ALL. -_-;;

My favorite SPEED songs are:

Hiroko's singles Mitsumete Itai and As Time Goes By - Both are cool, R and B-ish
Eriko's singles Tsumetaku Shinaide and Everyday, Be With You  - Very upbeat and great songs
Hitoe's single Inori - Spiffy song, but she still can't sing
Go Go Heaven - A little darker than their usual sound, and it works
Body and soul - Exciting, upbeat, changes a lot
Lovely Friendship - Really fast and cheerful
White Love - Not a bad attempt at a ballad, but their upbeat stuff is better
All My True Love - Again, the video is really cool
Breakin' Out in the Morining - Nice new song, energetic and unique
Takako's single Come Close to Me - Nice, mellow, pretty.  But her voice isn't great...
Kisetsu ga Iku Toki - It's fast and has a great beat.  Love it. ^_^
Face and Kokuhaku - I downloaded the mp3s for these and loved them.  I don't think they're on any cds or singles though...
Confusion - It's really catchy and fast; kind of reminds me of Body and Soul

Of course, SPEED is breaking up this March.  Just in time for my birthday.  Yay. -_-;;

Tokio

   I don't know all that much about Tokio at the moment.  They sang 7 o'clock News, the extremely spiffy 1st OP to Kodomo no Omacha.  I fell in love with that song and started on a mad quest to learn more about these talented and very hot guys! ^_^  I found out about some Cds and stuff of theirs, but I'm too broke to order them just yet.  Sigh.  At any rate, they have a nice rock sound.  Good vocals too, easy to like.   And just look at that cutie in the middle. ^_-

Okui Masami

      Most anime fans out there have heard Makkun sing at some point, and many without even knowing it!  She's the very talented artist who sang the OP for Utena, Revolution.  She's also sang for a lot of Slayers stuff too, like Get Along and Jama wa Sasenai.  She's actually done a lot more anime stuff too, but I've forgotten a lot of it.  I'm really not good with names of songs and series and such. -_-;;  I have her V-Sit and Her-Day albums, and have heard many of her anime songs, but I can't remember names... Of course I love Revolution, and Naked Mind from Slayers is another favorite.  Her voice is so strong and kind of rough/smooth at the same time.  Make sense? ^_^  Most of her stuff is really upbeat, but she's good at ballads too.  I still prefer the faster songs...  She writes a lot of lyrics, also.  I hear that they're rather witty and well written, and from what I've seen this seems very true.

L'arc en Ciel

      Many anime fans have heard L'Arc en Ciel's closing for Kenshin, the 4th Avenue Cafe.   It was an awesome song, but unfortunately it got cut after a few episodes since the drummer was caught with drugs. -_-;;  He was kicked, another drummer guy signed up, and the band is still doing well.  I think L'arc is more of a J-rock sound, although some of their songs are really poppy.  The main reason I fell in love with L'arc was the lead singer Hyde.  Besides being hot (^_^), he has this incredibly cool way of wailing songs more than singing them.  Not that his voice isn't good mind you, he has one of the most beautiful and expressive voices I've been exposed to.  Plus, he has an AMAZING range.  I worship this man. ^_^  Tetsu, the bass player started the group. He's good, but kind of strange.... Ken is the guitarist for the group, and he's hot (But feminine!).   Oh, and he's good on guitar too. ^_^   My favorite songs from L'arc are mostly on their True album.  Fourth Avenue Cafe, Round and Round, Kaze ni Kienaide, Caress ofVenus... All capture their unique and beautiful sound.  But my all time favorite L'Arc en Ciel song is Winter Fall.  It's *so* beautiful, and Hyde sounds as perfect as always. *^^*

SES
     SES is a Korean group that my Grandma actually got me started on (Surprise...). Anyway, the group consists of Sea, Eugene, and Shoo.  I'm not sure who the lead singer is, but her voice is very smooth and beautiful.  I think the other twoo rap or sing backup or something.  Their sound is very popish, but it's becoming more R&B.  My favorite SES song is Dreams Come True, which is very beautiful and ethereal sounding.  I also really liked Wanjunhan Yiyoo, it's sad but catchy. ^_^  I really hate that one guy who seems to rap in the middle of all their recent songs though...
