I don't live in North America, but I am on the CLAMP and CCSMLs, so it was inevitable I hear about the 'Cardcaptors' dub. Now, I'm a diehard fan of the original uncut Card Captor Sakura, but I don't have anything against newbies. On the contrary, I'm quite willing to help any confused soul who can't get what we 'originalies' of CCS talk about. So for what it's worth, here's a little advice to the presumed 'newbie' visiting this site.

 

1) It is extremely advisable that you do a little research on the original CCS before venturing further into this page. Mei-chan and I both write fics firmly established in the CCS universe, and you won't be able to make sense of what we're writing otherwise. I recommend Meg's newbie page, a highly entertaining and informative source. OR you can join the CLAMP ML or CCSML. Be warned that both are fairly high-volume, though.

2) Exercise common sense with comments or questions. That applies to posting to the MLs. I mean, don't get into arguments over stuff like Syaoran's crush on Yukito, which doesn't appear in the dub but is canon in the original. 'Cardcaptors' and 'Card Captor Sakura' are two different things. No matter which you support, reality is reality. Don't try to convince fans of the original they're wrong about certain topics on the strength of your knowledge of the dub, because you sure as heck won't get anywhere. And please be civil even if the original horrifies you and you can't BELIEVE CLAMP would do such a thing...nobody likes flames. Nobody will heed flamers, either.

3) Just have fun and don't get disturbed about the marked differences between what you see on your TV and what you get on the WWW. CCS is a wonderful series rich with colourful intricaties...trust me, it is a *whole* lot better than the dub (I downloaded clips of the first 2 eps from Nelvana's site and -_- no comment). Once you get to know it, it's almost a given you'll fall in love with it. And most people in the CCS community are equally nice, so what are you waiting for? Explore, make friends, read fics (^_^) and spread CCS's greatness around, folks!
