Trowa: I'm so anorexic!
Bishonen: Trowa Barton (alias ooou) and Quatre Winner (I'm NOT doing the whole middle name thing)
Anime: Gundam Wing hoo babeh!
Merits: Uh oh... honesty time... well, the reason this page wasn't up a loooong time ago (hey... I've owned this series for a while ^_^)is because... I... don't like Trowa and Quatre!! Aaaahhh!!! *ducks flying poultry* Wak! Please let me eplain!!
The Lowdown: Ok, here's where I get into the whole explanation thing. Why don't I like Trowa and Quatre? Well...
For one thing, Quatre's pretty unrealistic. I mean, the whole violin thing is neat, and he's very sweet, and I really like the whole father-dissaproval thing, but... well, I just can't identify with this kid in a pink shirt who sips tea and gets all teary-eyed around Sandrock and... thousands of other things.
I don't like Trowa because I'm not impressed with his character animation (yes, that is a big factor, sorry) and because he's a clown. The fact that he's a clown made my impression of him go down thiiiis much *indication of a great amount*
But that's enough insulting. Why, then, are they on my page. Why do I think they're one of the sexiest couples to ever grace this earth?!?!
That's just it, my friends! They'are an adorable couple! All righty here, listen. I think this is one of the most evenly matched temperment cases I have ever seen. They offset each other perfectly. Trowa is quiet, Quatre is kind. They both are into music, and they obviously care a great deal about each other.
Gundam Wing is a really singular show. I really like all of the pilots. It's inevidible, of course, that there are some I like more than others (WuFei! WuFei! WuFei! *faint*)but I can honestly say that if an episode centered around any one of them, I'd love it. That's part of the great thing about Trowa and Quatre's relationship. It's not the only good part of a show, like parts of Saber Marionette J (it can be very annoying), it just makes a little sweet addition to an already good episode. Something to make me dance and sing ^_^
This is a couple for which I have to say I see definite evidence. There are soooo many websites out there (one is called Subtle Hints, and it's a very good site indeed. I'll see if I can find it again and give the link.) which give detailed counts of conversation which could not possibly be understood as anything but a possitive affirmation of a relationship. I'll just give my own proof.
When the cartoon network dub was about to come out (btw, yay for the dub! Some of the voices suck and they got rid of Just Communication etc, but still... can we compare it to Sailor Moon? I rest my case.) I decided that it was the perfect time to see if I was just seeing the whole Trowa/Quatre thing because I'm a Webmistress for yaoi guys, or if it's as obvious as I think it was. So I decided to try a little experiment. I told one of my friends, a yaoi-disapproving Christian (Erin, this is you, if you're reading this!) who happenes to love anime and was totally psyched about GW all about the show. About OZ, and Heero and the gundams and everything, and I slipped in a teeny little half truth- Quatre and Trowa are a devoted couple at the end.
Well, she didn't really care, she was used to it in anime, so nothing more was said.
A couple of weeks later, I saw her after school again and asked her what she thought of the dub. She loved it (of course) so I asked her about Trowa and Quatre. She wasn't too enthused, because she's not a yaoi-fiend, but she said "Yeah, they're cute. Why are the gorgeous ones always gay?!"
I don't know quite what this proves, but if you're telling me that Trowa and Quatre are not one of the cutest anime couples, you're quite mad ^_^
A word on Cartoon Network's Dub in regards to 3x4...
Oh my gosh, the cartoon network people are totally on crack. I get so mad at them (for one thing, they refused to keep Just Communication- they felt that American kids couldn't relate to a J-pop song ><...) but... they really have their saving graces.
I have never been more impressed with a dub, honestly. Duo's voice, as well as the voices of the doctors... well, let's just say that I've thrown a bunch of shoes at the television, kay? But I was shocked to find that much of the dialogue was not just similar to the fansub (as has been the case with shows like Sailor Moon, and then we have Draong Ball Z which just throws the origional dialogue out the window...-_-;;) but was often word-for-word, almost disturbingly so. They had awesome translators, and the fact that they kept an uncut version for the midnight run impresses me more than I can express. (did anyone notice that Quatre said "crap" in the cut version? Oooh, I've rarely been so amused *laugh*)
Aah! I have to rewrite this section! Actually, let's allow the intelligent, perceptive Hikaru-san say it for me, ne?
Hikaru-san says...
"Trowa does not say, 'I can hear him, he's crying.' He can't hear him, and that is the wrong translation. If you don't mind, I will give the the correct one for that lovely scene. Trowa: "Someone's (or he. a noun is not needed for this sentence in japanese) calling me."
Catherine: "No one's calling you."
Trowa: "I know. He's crying."
Catherine: "You want to go back? After all the pain you've been though you still want to return to the battle field?"
*Rhythm Emotion by Two-Mix starts here*
Trowa: *looks at her smiling. his voice returns to the old, lower, stronger Trowa voice "It seems, someone once told me that following my emotions/feelings."
Catherine: "No matter what I say you will still go. Baka yo. Because your stubbornness hasn't changed one bit."
Trowa: "I'll come back alive. Neesan.(sister)
Catherine: *tears dropping* Honto ni baka da. (truly an idiot/stupid)
You remember next scene, Quatre's in Sandrock. He sees a shuttle, says, "Trowa?" eyes are glossy, Trowa looks really determined flying the shuttle towards sandrock.
End Hikaru quote...
Well... that ended up being more of an explanation of a scene than a commentary on the Cartoon Network dub, but I do think it was a very strong scene... apparently my memory was not as best as it used to be when I thought that CN had added music where it had not been there... gomen nesai, mina-san, misinformation is badbadbad!!!!
But CN did do a good job at it, didn't they?? I would have been forced to crack each and every one of their little heads with my Mallet of Utter Destruction® ^_^;;;
Love you! Bye!
