Shades of Gray is one of my more recent novels, started sometime in March 2002, I think. I was inspired to write it by looking at anime/fantasy art on the Internet, and I'l have to thank LOTS of people if I ever decide to try and publish it....^_^
***
The novel is about a civilization in an alternate dimension. A land called Belonstradom. There are two kinds of people living there: the Children of the Day, and the Children of the Night. The Day Children are Elves, wizards and witches, and all things good and pure. The Night Children consist of Vampires, Demons, and all that are Dark. The two sides have been at war with each other for thousands of years, but hardly anyone knows what for anymore.
Danielle is a young teenager witch whoes parents are very powerful, wealthy, and respected among the Children of the Day, anlong with her older brother, Terri. While she is of age to fight Dark Forces, Danielle's parents want her to have a little bit more experiance before going "hunting" like her brother. She and Terri are very close and when he has to go on two rather dangerous hunting parties, Danielle decides to tag along to make sure he stays out of trouble, but she gets a lot more than she bargained for....
Enter Shade...a powerful vampire who sometimes hunts with a rag-tag group that includes his younger sister, Neleah. He runs into Danielle while he and a few other vampires are fighting Terri and his group. He almost feeds off of a spying and very inexperianced Danielle, but then he decides to have a little fun with her. So he lets her go.
Much later, the two meet up again, after Danielle begins to really hunt. She's not powerful enough to fight him, and the two start to become friends, dispite the growing war around them.
