Mission: Camelot
Post by Commodore Sonak Reckus on Apr 11, 2005, 9:09

It had been several days after the wedding, and the newlyweds had enjoyed a few quiet days aboard starbase Bellicose, mainly spending time together on the holodecks. However, now was the time to get under way again, and Sonak had offered Admiral Reckus a ride back to Earth, since their next assignment would lead them past the planet.

She walked onto the bridge, and was mildly surprised to see Liam Reckus standing with his nose pressed to the forward viewscreen. "You might see more when you take a little distance from the viewscreen mister," she called towards him, "it is a screen, not a window."

The boy whirled around and turned beetred for a moment, then grinned sheepishly and took a few steps back. He walked towards his new sister-in-law when she beckoned him and patted the large centre seat. "You might be more comfortable here," she said, as she turned and went to check on communications.

"All hands, this is the captain speaking," she called, "we have received new orders, but we are going to take a little detour past Earth. All senior staff report to the briefing room in three hours. Mr Fox, report to the bridge."

<tags!>

right the new orders is just uhm...nothing really lol...but we are going to earth and then to the past...how? any ideas?>

OOC: Well...we could use the old slingshot method; I always thought that was cool. Perhaps the engines malfunction in some way, causing the ship to accelerate out of control as we approach the solar system. The Vesuvius is flung around the sun, knocked about a good bit, and ends up stranded in Earth orbit with minimal power (which is why they can't go back right away). Then the real fun begins...

IC: Meylor had been in a sublime mood lately, and an insistent voice in his head somewhere was telling him to be wary. If it's this good for this long, something's bound to come along and screw it up in spectacular fashion. The ship was running mostly smooth (their relatively new Chief Engineer had proved to be almost as meticulous as Nick), Mr. and Mrs. Reckus seemed to be even more sprightly than Meylor was, and a certain young computer specialist had become the apple of a certain young Ops Manager's eye. Erica (they were now on a first name basis, though Meylor had established the same protocol with his entire team) was becoming quite an efficient member of his team, topping everyone in the department in crew evaluations (she was already nicely on the way to a promotion), as well as taking them all to the cleaners each week at the poker game. Some of the players had resorted to introducing new games, like blackjack and so on, to have a better chance, but Erica kept up with the changes as if she could see them coming. Meylor was the only one content to lose; just to be in the same room with her was reward enough.

In her practical, no-nonsense approach to things, she barely seemed to notice his attentions, though to be fair, Meylor wasn't exactly making his intentions crystal clear. He was jarringly alerted to this fact the other day, however, when another crewmen made his move and asked her out. Erica purportedly responded coldy to the officer's egocentric attitude, but the occurence made Meylor acutely aware of the need to be both decisive and forthright when it came to this girl. She obviously did not suffer fools, or cowards, gladly. Meylor rapidly determined that he would prove himself to be neither, regardless of the risk that determination might entail.

It was now an off-duty period, and as he stepped into the messhall for a quick lunch, Meylor soon caught site of Erica sitting alone, studying a PADD intently and drinking what looked like a goblet of Klingon bloodwine. He resolved to take his chance, and found himself slipping into the chair opposite her.

"Seat's not taken?"

She looked up suddenly, her calm and impassive posture softening. "Of course, Commander. I mean, Paht", she amended, not having gotten used to that protocol quite yet.

He gestured to the goblet she held. "Is that Klingon bloodwine I smell? Hard to miss."

"Yes...I don't often drink it, though it's a favorite. Only when relaxing, or when I have a riddle to solve, like this little matter with the bio-neural computer interface on Deck 14. Ever since that chemical spill in Cargo Bay 2, some systems on that deck haven't been functioning up to specs."

"I know what you mean about bloodwine. Something about the flavor seems enliven the senses, galvanise the thought process. Unlike most alcohol."

"Exactly! Not only that, but unlike most alcohol, or most bloowine for that matter, this stuff doesn't have the intoxicating effects. The little blessings of modern technology..." She raised the goblet in a mock toast.

Meylor couldn't help but grin. This girl never ceased to surprise him; now he found that they shared a favorite drink. He also couldn't help but notice how relaxed she quickly became around him, in contrast to the business-like demeanor she had moments before his arrival, and he noted, when she was working with the other Ops team members. It wasn't' the synthetic bloodwine, he was certain of that. They seemed to be connecting on some level, and the idea was heartening to Meylor.

Just as he was about to speak his thoughts, however, the Yellow Alert lights flashed on, and Erica's commbadge buzzed. Tapping it, she returned to her all-business mode.

"Vasquez here."

"It's Thorad. Ensign, report to Engineering. The system anomalies you've been tracking appear to have infiltrated the control relays for the warp field generators, and it's starting to affect engine performance. We've alerted the Main Bridge, but your expertise is required down here."

"I'm on my way. Vasquez out."

They both nodded to eachother in tacit acknowledgement, and Meylor headed for the door and the Bridge. All the way, that voice in his head only got louder.

Quote:
"Mr Fox, report to the bridge."

This short stay at Bellicose had been all Fox needed. Being with Wendy again. A beautifull wedding of Sonak and Jatan and the nice party after it.

The days after the wedding he and Wendy had done many things together, doing the hobbies they had in common, having a lot of fun together.

Tho when he heard Sonaks voice asking him to report several days later he knew they'd be leaving on a mission again.

After he had replied to Sonak that he'd be there as soon as possible Wendy said.
"So... you have to go again..." Fox nodded "sadly yes."

"I will miss you.." Wendy continued "Promise you'll write."

"Will miss you also" Fox replied "I will write you."

"I love you." both said at the same time and kisses eachother.

Then Fox left her quarters after giving her a last big hug. Walking through the corridors thinking of the last few days he arrived at the docking bay after a few minutes.

He walked to the Vesuvius and went onboard, entered a turbolift and said "Bridge". Not much later he walked onto the bridge.

Looking around it he spotted her at the com. console and noticed someone else sitting in her chair. He walked over to her.

"You called Ma'am? Fox reporting in... "

OFF: Well, we might not have to go back to the past. We can also have that experience due to an anomaly or alien race with psychic powers. Something like the Voyager episode where everyone saw the one he or she loved at the wheel of the encountered spacevessel. It’s just an idea…

ON:
“When will I see you again?” Melissa asked from the bed. Daniel beside her on the bed, his bag with belonging packed next to him on the ground. “I don’t know,” Daniel said softly, “if it’s meant to be, we’ll meet again.” Melissa laughed. “What?” Daniel asked. “I never imagined those word ever coming from someone as rational as you.” “Rational? What are you talking about?” “Oh come on Daniel, you’re a counselor, you’re supposed to be objective.” “Yeah, objective considering what’s going on in other people’s minds. But I have my believes that there’s more in this universe than just matter.”

Melissa kissed him. Daniel got up, picked up his bag and exited the quarters. In the door he turned round and winked at Melissa before he disappeared onto the hallway. Dreamily Daniel followed the corridors that’d take him back to the Vesuvius. The trip to his quarters aboard the Vesuvius seemed to take ages. He couldn’t keep his thoughts off Melissa.

He nearly bumped into the door, having forgotten that his quarters were locked. Daniel sighed. “Computer open my quarters, authorization McVaye-delta-pi-60.” *Acknowledged.* The doors opened, and Daniel stepped into his quarters. He dropped his bag and yawned. He didn’t get a lot of sleep during his last night with Melissa. He decided to freshen up before going to the bridge.

The bathroom was dark. “Computer, lights,” he said, supressing another yawn. He looked in the mirror. “Hello Daniel,” his mirror image appeared to say. Daniel shook his head. Definately not enough sleep, Daniel thought, letting cold water pour over his head. “Not enough sleep? No that’s got little to do with me,” the voice came again. “I don’t hear you,” Daniel said out loud, exiting the bathroom. “That’s okay, you’re busy at the moment, not that I care, but for now I’ll leave you alone,” Daniel heard the voice say.

If this continues I’m going to need a counselor, Daniel thought ironically. He found his uniform in the closet in the bedroom. He stared at it for a moment. For some reason he’d always been proud to wear a uniform, giving him the feeling that he was part of something important. Fact is I am, Daniel thought, donning the uniform. He added the black pip to his collar, and straightened his garment. “Oh come on, it’s good this way!” The voice again. Daniel shook his head. I’m hallucinating, but that’s a side effect of last night. Little sleep and a lot of activity. I just need to get a good night rest this evening.

He exited his quarters and walked to the nearest turbolift, humming softly to himself. A young cadet gave him a friendly smile as they entered the turbolift together. The trip was silent. Daniel nodded as the cadet exited on her deck before the elevator resumed it’s ascend. Daniel’s was welcomed onto the bridge by the commodore’s questioning look. “Commodore?” Daniel asked, returning the look. “Are you alright ensign?” “A bit tired, that’s all,” Daniel said, “you look great, I really enjoyed the wedding.” “Thank you,” Sonak said. Daniel nodded and found his seat on the bridge, where he stared out of the viewscreen.

It took ten minutes before Daniel realised there was nothing to do for him on the bridge, and he got up again, having decided to go to his office. “Mister McVaye?” commodore Reckus asked just as Daniel was about to get into the turbolift. “Yes ma’am?” “Be sure to report to the briefing room in three hours.” “Oh yeah, sure, of course,” Daniel said, sounding more distant than he’d expected.

Daniel closed his eyes as he sank down in the comfortable chair in his office. Images flashed past his eyes. He saw Melissa, and his parents, and his friends from the academy. For an instant he felt like he was back in that time, young again, at least younger than now. What a great time that was, and how his world’d changed when he joined Starfleet. His parents had always supported him, and Daniel had been very motivated. But he did miss his friends, and a home, and Melissa already. The Vesuvius is your home for now, Daniel tried to tell himself. But the thought wirhled trought his mind as if it was in some other language.

*Ten minute reminder to briefing,* the computer notified. Daniel looked up from the reports he was going through. He stretched his arms above his head, and put his hair backwards with his hands. He got up and went to find his way to the briefing room. He was the first one to arrive, eight minutes early. Daniel raised his shoulders and sat down in one of the unoccupied chairs, wondering what their next mission was going to be.

"Jamie, Jamie, Jamie" Ed shook his head in mock disappointment, "How many times do I have to tell you? Never trust a Starbase engineer. Especially if I've already warned you about them."

Jamie blushed, but then regained his composure. "I suppose you've never been caught out. Oh that's right, you were."

"That doesn't count, he's a friend of mine."

Ed turned to his work for a minute. Not that there was much to do. The computer was still sifting through some of the data Mareen's team had left. Until he could see if they could canibalise any equipment, the only thing to do was system checks.

"Oh great, one of the med lab processors is down. Collins to Stokes"

=/\= Stokes here. =/\=

"You're going to need a recheck on one of your processors. From here it looks down."

=/\= Just make my day, why don't you. Any estimate on time frame? =/\=

Jamie checked the data again, "Not really, I can't find it on the system at all."

Robert could be heard sighing at the other end, =/\= Alright, thanks for the tip. I'll get a couple of engineers down here. Stokes out. =/\=

"Everything else looks good so far." Ed commented.

"Definitely. You know it's at times like this when I realise how many labs we have compared to the number of scientists."

The door chimes sounded. "Yeah, come in."

Katia stuck her head round the door, "Sure it's safe?"

"Yep. Computer, I could use some more light." The rest of the lights switched on, and L'Ola could be seen walking over trying to get her uniform jacket on.

"You're not looking so good today." Kat observed.

L'Ola shrugged, "Same as usual I guess."

"Usual doesn't mean everything's ok. Something is not right. You are always ready when I get here, this must be the first time I've seen you without immaculate hair, you've left things in a complete mess... oh and you just put your commbadge on upside down."

Looking down L'Ola saw that Katia was indeed right, and couldn't help smiling at that one, if only for an instant. She put it back the right way up, "I was hoping to start a new trend..."

She received a glare in reply.

"What? Okay, so I'm not 100% with it today. What's your point?"

"I'm just trying to help. You've been completely preoccupied by something."

L'Ola sighed, "That's probably more true than I thought. Well I might as well talk to someone about it..."

"And the girl he was with?"

"Arrived on the starbase a while ago. Known as 'mystery girl', seeing as we know virtually nothing about her. We figure she must be some relation of Commander Kanz', but we're not sure what."

Jamie looked puzzled, "Did you ask?"

Ed shook his head, "Haven't dared. Lucy's so secretive I wouldn't want to. Besides, something weird's up with her personnel file, so it might be a really secret secret."

The pair turned round as they heard the door open. "Hi Jason."

"Hi. Don't suppose Kat's been in yet?"

"Not that I've seen." Jamie answered, sounding almost apologetic.

Jason shrugged, "Oh well. Guess I'll have to check up on her later. Not that there's too much of a rush." He sounded bored. Ed picked up on that.

"How was your shore leave?"

"Wrong question. Went to the wedding. Saw a friend of L'Ola's. Happened to mention something I shouldn't have in front of some people not in the loop." He suddenly realised he'd been babbling again, so he stopped. Of course he'd said enough to get the cogs turning in Ed's mind. If things were really how they seemed...

"Bet you're glad to be back here then."

"Oh yes. I'll feel even better once I've tracked down our head of Astrometrics. So what did you get up to?"

Post by Commodore Sonak Reckus on Apr 13, 2005, 14:34

When Sonak walked into the briefing room, she was met by a round of cheers. She looked around in bewilderment, then saw Tony Reckus sitting at the far end of the table with a satisfied look on his face. Jatan, however, looked as if he wanted to crawl under the table and pretend he wasn't there. She had invited the admiral to the senior staff meeting, as they were going to Earth first to drop the Reckus family off, but she figured he might want to stay aboard for this mission.

Fox had already set course for Earth, and they would arrive at their destination in a few minutes. The ship was now on autopilot and a crewman was monitoring the systems as they were in conference. Suddenly the ship jolted, and Sonak felt the deckplates vibrate as the ship accelerated fast. There was another hard jolt and everyone was slammed towards either de deck or into the walls, depending on their position.

She herself was slammed into a wall and the wind was knocked out of her. When she crawled back to her feet, she was still gasping for air. "Bridge, report!" she called, as she hoisted herself into the nearest seat. There was no response from the bridge. With Tony Reckus in tow, she raced onto the bridge, and found every crewmember, including young Liam, lying unconscious on the deck.

"Meylor, start scanning...I want to know what just happened. Fox, find out why the ship excellerated. Jacobson, check engine status. Kanz, where are we. Reckus ~how odd....that is me too~ sickbay status, casualty reports. Martens, aid Jacobson. McVaye, casuaty reports with Reckus."

She looked around. "Well, snap to it!" she ordered when everyone just stood gaping. She knelt beside admiral Reckus, who was checking on his son. "Set him down in the command chair," Sonak advised him, "he looks to be only knocked unconscious."

<Everyone, lol>
Re: Mission: Camelot
Post by Jatan Reckus on Apr 13, 2005, 15:49

The crew had gathered in the briefing room, waiting for their CO to arrive. Tony Reckus took the head of the table, mainly by accident.

"Dad, thats Sonak's chair!" exclaimed Jatan. It was good to see his father, who was now sitting in his regular admiral's uniform and spinning in Sonak's chair.

"Sorry son, can't help it" he laughed.

Caldwell had been allowed to attend the meeting too, even though he was not a senior member of the crew. He was sitting opposite Jatan.

"So, how was your honeymoon?" he asked, smiling.

Reckus smiled. "Yeah, really good" he said, waiting for the barrage of questions to come.

"And er, the first night?" Nephi ventured.

Jate looked at his fingers and then up again. "It was good" he replied. "Look how long did Sonak say she would be?" he tried in vain to change the subject.

"Nice try Jate" Caldwell cut in.

"Have you never...well, slept together?" asked Tony, raising his eyebrow and trying to hide the smirk that was tugging at his mouth.

"Erm, well ...Yeah we have like slept in the same bed for most of the last few months" he said, wishing the ground would swallow him up. "And we erm...well we've done stuff together" he tried to find the right words.

"But you never touched home base?"

"Dad!" he cried in exasperation.

"What?!" Tony said incredulously. "Look, I'm not trying to wind you up son...it's all the boys together" he stopped and looked across at L'Ola. "No offense Commander" he added apologetically.

"None taken Sir" she replied.

"Your mother and I, well we'd been together a while before we did the deed" he started.

"You have to understand Dad that Sonak has a different idea of things then human females....she wanted to wait and I respect that" Jatan replied, feeling bit frustrated with the questioning, even though he had expected. "So our wedding night was special when we finally slept together"

A cheer errupted around the table and just as Jatan wondered if it was better to keep his mouth shut, Sonak walked in.

As they sat down to business, they felt the ship shudder and everyone was jolted off their seats or against the walls.
Sonak managed to get herself up and into the nearest chair. "Bridge, report!" she called. But the bridge was scarily quiet.
Tony Reckus joined her as she raced out to the bridge. All the crew had been knocked unconscious as a result of the juddering. They noticed Liam lying on the floor by the main seat.
Sonak began ordering her crew around to deal with the aftermath. She suggested moving Liam.

"No, lets wait a minute" said Tony. "Jate come here!" he called his son.

Jate ran over and pulled a tricorder from his pocket. He scanned over his brother. "He's ok, he's just got a slight swelling to his brain. No neck injury. Ok, lets get him to sickbay"

Tony picked him up and made his way to Sickbay.

Reckus turned to Sonak. "I'll be in sickbay. Will send you a report as soon as I know the full situation" he said.

She nodded and squeezed his arm. "Thank you Jate" she replied and watched her husband guide another crew member towards the turbolift

Moving to the science console on the Bridge L'Ola scanned the surrounding space. They'd reached earth, that much was clear. But something wasn't right.

She tried to focus. She still wasn't feeling 100%, but someone had to work out what had happened. "Commodore, we're in the Terran system. Specifically in orbiting distance of earth."

"Why do I get the feeling you're suspicious?"

"Aside from the fact that the planet is obviously earth, it doesn't look right. The composition of the atmosphere is way off and..." She suddenly spotted the far more obvious clues that something was wrong, "There are no ships in orbit, most of the planet is empty, and I'm not detecting anything but planets in the rest of the system."

By the time Sonak had jumped over to look at the data for herself, L'Ola was already working on a calculation for the next inevitable request. The question wasn't WHERE they were, it was WHEN.

Post by Meylor Paht on Apr 13, 2005, 22:42

After the turbulence had begun to die down somewhat, Meylor found himself sprawled in one corner of the Briefing Room, nursing a frightfully painful left arm. He suspected it was fractured, given that the slightest movement of the arm only increased the pain. Someone soon helped him up, and they all went out to the distressing scene on the Bridge. Pretty quickly, however, Fox seemed to get the helm under control, and their acceleration was terminated with a final brief jolt. The Commodore took charge without delay.

"Meylor, start scanning...I want to know what just happened. Fox, find out why the ship excellerated. Jacobson, check engine status. Kanz, where are we. Reckus ~how odd....that is me too~ sickbay status, casualty reports. Martens, aid Jacobson. McVaye, casuaty reports with Reckus." She looked around. "Well, snap to it!" she ordered when everyone just stood gaping.

Meylor had no need to be told again, and slipped into the Ops chair, concentrating on something else besides the pain. "It looks like the problem with the warp drive control relays is worse than we thought. The field generators were abruptly ordered to activate at full power, taking us from normal crusing speed to warp factor 9.87 in a few seconds. The strain was too much, and the warp coils are fused. Since we were approaching the solar system at that moment, our warp engines were engaged while within unsafe distance of the sun's gravity well, and..."

Realization dawned in Sonak's eyes, and she finished for him. "...a slingshot effect occurred. We could have well been sent into time warp or even taken light years away from Earth; confirm our position."

Meylor did the necessary calculations.

By the time Sonak had jumped over to look at the data for herself, L'Ola was already working on a calculation for the next inevitable request. The question wasn't WHERE they were, it was WHEN.

Meylor finished his work, and the results were alarming, to say the least. "I can confirm that, Commodore. We're defintely not in the 24th century any longer...I'd say were closer to the 13th. And unless the engines magically heal themselves, we're not going back to our time very soon...

Coming back to reality as he heard Sonak say this Fox rushed out or the briefing room onto the bridge.

Walking onto it he saw some officers getting up again after they had been knocked down by the jolting. He immediately too place behind the helm console and started tabbing some buttons on it to find out why they had accelerated.

"Commodore..." he said looking at the readings on his console. "We did accelerate. Yet according to engine readings we didnt."

"Please explain, Commander." Sonak replied.

"The engines have been running on the same intensity that i put them before activating autopilot. Something else has caused the acceleration. We might have encoutered some anomaly that 'pushed' or 'pulled' the ship. Thats the only explantion i can think of for these contradicting readings."

"Confer with Mr Jacobson," Sonak ordered, as she watched Jatan walk off with his little brother. She shot the admiral an apollogetic look, as they wouldn't be going home any time soon.

She turned to Meylor. "Thirteenth century you said?" she asked. Meylor opened his mouth to say something, but suddenly the senior staff, including admiral Reckus, found themselves on the surface of the planet, dressed in medieval clothing.

Surprised, she looked around. "What did just happen?" she asked no-one in particular. She did notice, that Lt Jacobson was missing from the group. Then, a group men on horses came riding towards them swiftly.

"Lord Merlin, your presence is required at the castle," one of the men cried, as he bent down to assist Nick onto the horse. He nodded towards Sonak and L'Ola. "It is good to see you finally settled your difference Lady Guinevere and Lady Morgaine. King Arthur will be pleased." He pulled Nick behind him on the horse, without giving the first officer a chance to react, and rode off.

Another man turned to Jatan. "Lord Lancelot, there is a disturbance in Cornwall that needs your attention." He gave a glare at Meylor, Fox and McVaye. "And what are these traitors doing in your company?"

Nephi looking at a console, checking over their engine status, when suddenly his surroundings changed. He fell backward onto a hard stone floor. After the blur of the blow to his head wore off, he lifted his head, then noticed that his clothing had changed. He was wearing clothing typical of the period Meylor had indicated, but he was wearing a red robe with fur trim. It looked like the robe of a King.

Reaching for the back of his head, his hand brushed something metal. Rolling over, he saw it was a large ornate crown. He looked around. He was in a rather spacious, laviciously decorated room How did he get here? And why was he dressed like a King?

He was just wondering when a door on the far end of the room opened. Someone that looked like a courtier walked in, then stopped when he saw Nephi on the ground. "Your Majesty? My Lord Arthur, why are you lying on the ground like that?"

Arthur? King Arthur??? I must have hit my head harder than I thought, Nephi thought to himself.

"My Lord? Are you alright?" the attendant said, looking slightly worried.

Nephi quickly shook it off and stood up. Something metal scraped on the ground as he stood. He then noticed the sheathed sword at his waist. Excalibur. He then turned to the now-worried attendant. "Oh, yes I'm fine. I just lost my balance thats all....I am busy working on something at the moment, so if you'll excuse me."

"Ah yes. Working on the troubles with Gawaine, I suspect. I will leave you alone."

Nephi was confused. Where was he? How did he get here? Why did that attendant think he was King Arthur? And what trouble with Gawaine? Nephi was very, very confused.

~Merlin!?~ Nick thought to himself. It wasn't possible, the man was just a myth. Well now he apparently was the man of legend and myth.

"What is the urgency Captain?" Nick asked his rider.

"That wretch Gawaine has been harassing the castle again. The king has called for you presence," the knight replied.

~Gawaine? I should have paid more attention to medievil lore at the academy~ Nick thought to himself. He settled in for the ride to the castle to meet the king, Arthur presumably.

Sonak watched as Nick accepted the hands-up onto the horse and wondered what they were doing here, and more importantly how they got here. Jatan too, had gone with the group as he had been addressed as Sir Lancelot. Knowing her history, Lancelot was King Arthur's first knight, so he too belonged to be at the castle.

She and L'Ola had been addressed as Lady Guinevere and Lady Morgaine, but neither of them knew who was supposed to be which. They both assumed that they'd soon find out.

The group of horsemen hadn't left long before a second group came riding up on them. "Sir Gawaine, sir Gawaine!" she heard one of them call from the distance. Sonak wondered who of the three remaining men would be Gawaine. She was surprised to find hem come to a halt right before Meylor Paht. She exchanged a bewildered glance with him, and nodded that he should go with them. She was positive that they were here for a reason, and not playing along might just contaminate the timeline.

She was even more surprised to find that McVaye and Fox were also told to come along, which left herself and L'Ola behind without protection. "I suppose we could walk to the castle," she suggested towards the science officer, then looked at her footwear. "Though, in this attire it may indeed be a long walk." She turned when she heard footsteps, and saw two horses step out from the bushes.

"Now why am I not surprised," she muttered, then looked up. "You do know how to ride a horse, do you not?" she asked, as she climbed onto the horse closest to her. It was a mould-coloured mare with dark grey manes and she was very quiet as Sonak climbed into the saddle. Too bad, it was not a saddle designed for women wearing long dresses, but it had to do.

Not long after, both women were on their way to the castle.

As the Vesuvius rocked Daniel was slung out of his chair and felt the painfull impact of his skull against the wall. For a moment the world spinned and became all blurry. Then it became black, leaving a gap in Daniel’s consciousness. When he woke up he couldn’t immediately realise that he’d been down for only a very brief period of time. Encoutering difficulties in regaining his bearings Daniel only vaguely hear the orders Sonak was calling out.

To sickbay with Jatan, was all Daniel could register. A thumping pain in his head kept him from thinking straight, and he swayed on his legs when he got up, quickly grasping a chair not to collapse again. Everyone around him seemed to be dazed. Daniel blinked his eyes a few times before he noticed that the briefing room was empty. Casualty reports, casualty reports, Daniel thought, now moving in the direction of the door.

Unable to remember how he got there Daniel picked up a hypospray from a shelf in sickbay, and released its contents in his neck. He stretched his neck, and saw the images in front of his eyes beginning to take normal shape again. Just as he got up to help an incoming badly wounded crewmemeber, Daniel thought he was going crazy.

The senior staff had all emerged in medieval clothing, some of them even held weapons at their side. Daniel felt his clothes, definately not as comfortable as his Starfleet uniform. A heavy iron, battered looking sword hung by his side. Before Daniel could even think about how to react, a lot happened, eventually leaving him, Meylor and Fox, as the others had been taken by horsemen.

“Now what?” Daniel asked, but there was no time for Fox or Meylor to answer. “Sir Gawaine, sir Gawaine!” a man from an approaching group of horsemen called. “Are thee unharmed, milord?” the man asked. “We must hurry,” an older looking horseman said. His grey beard moved in the wind, and his face was stained. The nearby man nodded. “We have brought thy horse, and two for them,” he motioned at Fox and McVaye.

Okay Daniel, just play along and you’ll be fine, Daniel thought, clumsily hoisting himself onto a horse. He tried to recall the name ‘Gawaine’, it was vaguely familiar. But probably due to the collision with the wall Daniel couldn’t figure at the moment. The group came into movement, and soon Daniel found himself galloping along on his horse.

Nephi decided that the best thing to do was to found out the current state of affairs. If they thought he was Arthur, he had to start acting like it, at least for now. The fog in his head didnt help much, though. The attendant had mentioned something about a problem with Gawaine. Gawaine, as Nephi recalled, was a Knight of the Roundtable, and Arthur's nephew.

He opened the door of the chamber he was in, and stepped through. He found himself in the throne room of the castle at Camelot. An attendant approached him once again. This one was an older man, and appeared to be an advisor. "My Lord," he said bowing.

"What news of Gawaine?"

"My Lord, he is marshalling an army near Stonehenge. Many of them are his clansmen. I have also recieved word that he is attempting to sway some of your own Knights. What do you wish to do, My Lord?"

"I often find that reviewing the whole situation again in its entirety helps me to find solutions. Tell me again from the beginning the problem with Gawaine."

The advisor looked puzzled, but nodded. "An interesting approach, My Lord. As you know, Lancelot was accidentally responsible for the deaths of Gawaine's three brothers, two of which, Gareth and Gaheris were, as you know, Knights of the Roundtable. This has made Gawaine furious with Lancelot, and because of Lancelot's loyalties to you, he sees you as one in the same. He has been plotting to overthrow you and take your throne for himself. He has been convincing others to join him, and as he is the mightiest warrior in all of the land, he has swayed many."

The fog in his head was not helping. Arthur didn't know what it was, but strange thoughts of another identity clouded his mind. He shook it off. This was not time for confusion. Camelot was in trouble, and Arthur had to act.

"Send spies into his ranks, gather what information we can. Gawaine must be stopped!" he said, pulling out Excalibur, which glinted in the sunlight coming through the window. Battle is upon us, Arthur thought to himself.

The afternoon was bright and the open air invigorating as Meylor swung into the saddle and prodded his mount to follow the ragtag group of primitive soldiers on a rough trail deeper through the woods. The commodore had indicated that they should play along for now, and there seemed to be little alternative, as no indication of the ship anywhere nearby was apparent, and no way to contact it either. Ship? What ship was I thinking of? Do I have a galleon harboured on the coast?. His thoughts, as he felt the powerful strides of the beast carry him swiftly forward, seemed to be jarring loose from within his skull. He was no longer certain who the `commodore` was, or what this `ship` could be. Somehow, riding the horse had stirred something within him. He had ridden similar creatures in the past, but...wait, that wasn't quite right. He had always ridden horses, since he was a lad. He and his brothers had explored these forests on horseback for days and nights on end...

His brothers. Gareth and Gaheris had been his riding companions, his trusted advisers, his family. But now...they were gone. There lives cut short by the careless theatrics of the knight called Lancelot. A fanciful parade masquerading as a man, who within was truly nothing more than a coward and villain. A fiend who would soon pay for his murderous deed...

The party rapidly began to emerge on the far side of the forest, the hooves of their steeds thundering across a broad expanse of high, grassy plains. In the near distance, shrouded in a thin mist, stood great rough-hewn monoliths of grey stone grouped together in a magnificent circle. This was his encampment, where his small, but determined army of followers awaited his command to begin the campaign. A campaign of revolution, a righteous quest of empowerment for the powerless. A divinely inspired mission to overthrow a tyrant: Arthur, King of the Britons, soon to meet the iron hand of justice.

The blow would be delivered by him, Gawaine, formerly a cowering servant to this tyrant, now endowed with a greater purpose. And, lo, with my growing army of righteous warriors, that purpose shall soon be fulfilled. As his party swept into the encampment, Gawaine drew his blade and raised it in defiant resolve. All those sheltered within the walls of the stone circle watched as he approached, shouting with a voice that sounded like the Almighty himself.

"Rise, O warriors of this weary land! Rise and reclaim what is yours from those who would wrest it from you and your posterity! From Arthur and his den of false knights! From any who would usurp your birthright! Rise, and to your arms!! Prepare for battle!!!

Daniel felt strange. Riding the horse felt so natural, and the creature seemed to react in exactly the way Daniel wanted it too. Stripes of sunlight brightened the path before them, and the grassy hill they climbed barely seemed to be an obstacle. The horizon spread out above the hill when the fiersom group of horsemen emerged on top. A breath taking orange sun hung in the sky in front of them, casting it;s warm light on the encampment at the foot of the hill.

Home, Daniel thought, immediately realizing how weird that sounded. The fellowship had their horses gallop down. The magnificent gate of the encampment slowly rose upwards, yet the horsemen did not slow down. As they reached the gate they stormed undeneath it, the horses trampling the earth beneath them.

“Lord Gawaine has arrived! Lord Gawaine has arrived!” voices Gawaine’s followers called from almost everywhere. Gawaine made his horse circle past the crowd, while the other horsemen, including Daniel had stopped their animals from moving. “Rise, o warriors of this weary land! Rise and reclaim what is yours from those who would wrest it from you and your posterity! From Arthur and his den of false knights! From any who would usurp your birthright! Rise, and to your arms! Prepare for battle!”

The crowd exploded in wild cheering, swords and weapons were stuck in the air and waved around. Without realizing it at first place, Daniel noticed that he too held his sword above his head and swung it around, wildly cheering. He got his horse into motion, and approached Gawaine. “Marcus, my dearest brother,” Daniel heard Gawaine say, as his mind had more and more trouble sticking to reality.

“I have conceived a briljant plan,” Gawaine went on. “As always, milord, as always,” Marcus answered. “I want you to take a small batallion, six men, including you, no horses. I will give Arthur a full frontal, with an immense fighting force, so that he’ll have to concentrate all his forces at the front of camelot.” “And then you want me to sneak around the back-” “-and start taking care of the villagers, yes Marcus,” a broad smile appeared on Gawaine’s face. Daniel bowed. “It will be done milord.” Gawaine placed his hand on Marcus’s shoulder. “I have all confidence that it will.”

Daniel steered his horse away. Very well Marcus, now who to take along? Daniel thought. He got off his horse, and called a stableboy to take care of it. “You, come with me,” Marcus said to a man he found looking capable. He collected four more capable men, and had them assemble, telling them Gawaine’s ingenious plan. “We need a grappling hook, one should be enough, and light weaponry, since we need to climb Camelot’s walls, daggers would be perfect,” Daniel explained. “But what if they expect a diversion, and also leave some of their force behind to hold us off, then we’re history, useless!” a man with dark hair and a great lack of teeth notified.

“True, very well, we’ll carry our swords then,” Daniel said, now realising how faithful the piece of iron that hung on his side felt. “Do you all feel up to it?” Marcus asked rhetorically, stretching out his fist, which was met by those of the other five. “For Gawaine! For freedom! We will crush Arthur, and Camelot will be ours!”

Post by Nick Martens on Apr 18, 2005, 3:13

The sight of the knights readying their respective horses worried Nick. From the guards on high alert at the gates to the peasants preparing for the worst the castle was electric. Nick strode with purpose to the main chamber of the castle hoping to meet this King Arthur, which human history had depicted as a fierce warrior of valor.

He passed by servants and hand maidens, all bowed and welcomed him back. He just waved them back to their feet and continued on. The honor they bestowed on him was not needed. The more he traveled around this place the more he realised how feared and honored the wizard Merlin was despite witchcraft being punishable by death.

Nick spotted the ceremonial guards to the Round table/Main chamber and approached. They stood in stiff attention as the wizard walked towards them.

"Relax men," he said to the two and entered the chamber. He pushed aside the solid oak doors and walked into the darkened chamber. A large fire burned off the side with a large boar slowly being turned by a servant.

"What is it you want Merlin?" Came a voice from the shadowed form of the throne. A form sat with a brooding stance, his arms up on the armrests.

"You sent for me highness?" Nick asked pretending to be the famed wizard. So far the act was holding.

"Gawaine is preparing to attack our fortress. I am preparing to take preventative measures and eliminate him," The voice said. Nick raised an eyebrow as the he sounded familiar. "I summoned you back because I did not want you to fall into his hands. You may go back to you lair now." The guards wandered back in and motioned for the wizard to leave.

Nick stepped back out into the hallway and looked around. He scratched the back of his neck and looked at one of the guards.

"Pardon me but I've forgotten where my lair is. My memory isn't what it was."

The guard smiled and pointed to the right. "Shake
Uthurs right hand," He said.

"Ah yes, now I remember," he lied and continued on down the hall. He reached the statue of Uthur Pendragon and shook his hand. Immediatly a door opened out of the stone wall. It revealed a spiral staircase down into the belly of the castle. Small torches suddenly came to life as if sensing his presence.

He started down the stairs and the door slowly closed behind him with a thud. After a couple minutes of decending he came to the wizards lair. It was a cluttered mess of papers and bottles. A couple birds sat quietly in their cages watching the man. In the center of the room stood a large metal cylindar. It immediatly drew Nick attention. It was too clean to be a forged peice.

He stepped closer and looked over the object. It stood roughly 5 feet tall and 4 feet round. It was perfectly smooth with a purplish tint to the metal. One the back of the object was an inscription in a script he'd never seen. He ran his fingers over the marks and a loud hiss came from the object. A line suddenly developed on the perfectly smooth surface and slowly the cylindar began to open.

~I must find Sonak~ he thought looking at the cylindar ~this changes everything~

Fox and Daniel got called to join the group of horsemen. A man came walking to him with a horse. ~I have never ridden a horse before~ he thought, but didn't protest when the bridle of the horse were given to him. Immediately he mounted the horse having no trouble as if he had done it many times before.

"LETS GO" got shouted as the horses in the front started to move. At first afraid to fall off Fox also made his horse move, but this didnt happen, instead he stayed in the saddle with ease.

They rode off into the woods. Finally they reached an encampment. As they rode into it and stopped Gawaine began to 'speach' ending in.

"Rise, O warriors of this weary land! Rise and reclaim what is yours from those who would wrest it from you and your posterity! From Arthur and his den of false knights! From any who would usurp your birthright! Rise, and to your arms!! Prepare for battle!!!

Together with all the horsemen and the other men in the camp Fox raised his sword and shouted: "For Gawaine!!" forgetting everything about Starfleet, the USS Vesuvius and being her Navigation Officer.

Gawaine called Marcus with him for a while. Not much later Fox saw Marcus go around the camp. He also walked past Fox, but Fox wasn't called to come with him, several others were, then all six walked off.

In the mean time Gawaine started to explain that they would do a frontal attack on Camelot and that everyone should ready themselfs.

All men started to prepair as did Fox. He took his sword and walked to one of the grindstones to make sure it was really sharp.

Feeling a bit hungry and to make sure his sword was sharp enough he cut off a piece of meat from the big lumb that was hanging over the fire in the middle of the camp.

~Its sharp enough~ he thought when he saw it cut through without problems and started on the piece of roasted meat.

Mrs Anderson, a widow from the poorer part of Tintagel walked up the long path towards the castle. Today, she would try yet again to get an audience with Lady Guinevere, Arthur's beautiful queen. For the past weeks, ever since the death of her husband and son in the wars against Gawaine and his tronies, she had tried to see the queen.

The guards barred her way yet again as she reached the massive gate to the castle. "I am here to seek audience with Queen Guinevere," Mrs Anderson demanded, "and if she will not see me, I seek Wizard Merlin, or Lady Morgaine, the priestess of Avalon. I am in need of counsil and only they can provide it. If I must, I will worm my way through and walk up to the king himself to demand the counsil."

The guards looked at one another, amazed at the woman's boldness and courage. No ordinary woman dared walk up to the castle by herself, nor would she dare demand audience and then threaten to work her way in. "Go tell his highness," the older guard told the young one, "tell him of this bold woman, who demands to see the queen."

The young one nodded, and raced towards the counsil chambers. "My lord," he called, as he knelt down on one knee in respect, "there is a woman at the gates to see Queen Guinevere.....and she demands to see you before she does...what shall I tell her?"

"Milord," Marcus bowed as he approached Gawaine, who was instructing a few of his man how to divide the available weaponry. "Marcus, yes, what is it?" Gawaine asked as he turned to face his follower. "I have picked men, and we are prepared," Marcus explained. "Excellent, most excellent, I knew you wouldn't let me down Marcus," Gawaine said.

"We do require horses to get near the vicinity of Camelot, milord, but I guess thee'd already reckoned that," Marcus said humbly. "Of course my friend, there will be horses for you and your men. Marcus bowed once more and walked off. He felt the edge of his blade. This needs to be sharpened, he thought.

Marcus saw a group of people surrounding a working bench, fighting over who got to sharpen his weapon first. "Hey!" Marcus called, causing the men to turn and face their interrupter. They all took a step back, everyone knew about Gawaine's favored brother in arms. Marcus gave them an arrogant look. "Give me that!" he said snatching a tool from one of the men's hand. He gave them another look, then sat down in the grass, and began patiently sharpening the blade of his entrusted sword. Oh, how I love this power, Marcus thought, knowing that he envied Gawaine for his might.

"Excuse me, lord Marcus?" a nervously breathing stable boy approached Marcus. "What?" Marcus asked briskly and uninterested. "W-well, master Gawaine would like a word with you, right now," the boy explained, barely able to cough up the words. In a flash Marcus had the tip of his sword at the throat of the boy. "Don't ever talk to me like that again." A mean smile covered his smile, as he got up, retrieving his sword. "Well, go off! Tell him that I'll be right over!" Marcus shouted.

"Milord you called?" Marcus asked Gawaine as he swung his sword by his side. It's balance was good, even though you wouldn't say so by looking at the piece. "One last thing, I want you to ride out tonight, when it's dark. Take your men and the horses up to the edge of the forest near Camelot. Tie the horses up there, we'll pick them up. Then you sneak round the back of Camelot, and wait there. The frontal attack will pull up at dawn, you will probably notice once it has begun." "I think the screams will not pass my ears unnoticed," Marcus smiled. Gawaine nodded.

The two man grabbed each other's shoulder. "May we feast together at the round table," Gawaine said full of faith. "We will milord, we definitely will," Marcus said. He bowed to his lord and went off to inform his men. Darkness is to fall soon, Marcus thought, walking past the campfires that had just been lit. He felt hungry, and the smell of roasting meat filled his senses. A huge boar hung over a fire, slowly being turned by a fat, bald man, who did not seem to be capable of more than eating and turning, definitely not fighting.

Marcus raised his shoulders and sank down next to the fat man, who addressed him right away. "'Tis a gre'eat bo'oar sar," he spoke, appearing to have a lot of difficulty with it, "ya can hav ar piece if yer ple'ease so." "Thank you," Marcus said, taking a dagger from his belt and slicing a big piece of meat from the roasting creature.

Slowly the sun sank behind the walls of the encampment, and a crescent moon appeared in the star covered sky. It's time, Marcus thought, getting up and leaving the speech impedimented man alone with the boar, looking for his chosen men. He strolled around the camp, and could quickly find them, they all seemed to be eager, which was positive in some way. "Let's go get our horses," Marcus said, leading them to the improvised stables.

All six took a horse, and they slowly rode their steeds trough the gate. Gawaine signaled a 'good luck' from the table he appeared to be dining at. Marcus nodded back. As soon as they'd passed the gate Marcus dug his heels into the horses belly, causing the creature to start a gallop. Arthur doesn't know what's going to hit him, Marcus thought satisfied. Swiftly, the six infiltrators sped off into the night, towards Camelot.

"We are."

"And when we get there we are going to..."

"Find out what is going on I suppose." Sonak answered. "We may have to play along in these roles for quite some time."

"I hope they keep good records. It would make it easier to fit in."

They turned a corner and the road split in two. "It is lucky that we can see the castle from this position." Sonak pointed out, "Otherwise we would have to guess which way to go."

Luckily they made it to the castle without any problems. The only real question was what to do next.

As Marcus and his men headed off on their appointed task, Gawaine studied the darkening horizon intently as he brandished an elegant bejewelled stiletto, the talisman of power given him by a certain woman of his acquitance known to him and feared across the countryside only as the Dark Lady. She had never shown her face, but the first time Gawaine had met her, he knew that she represented nothing less than the forces of Darkness itself, hence her title. A mistress of the black arts, she had the power to grant supernatural assent to his campaign, and she seemed all too willing to do so. Gawaine, in turn, accepted her talisman, which sealed his alliance with her demonic realm, and permitted access to certain mystical knowledge. But only to a point; the Dark Lady made certain of that. For his part, Gawaine disliked deferring to the undoubted superiority of this ghoul's skill, but he nonetheless recognized its inestimable value when facing an enemy whose ally was none other the ancient sorceror Merlin himself.

Little did the hag know that Gawaine's knowledge was quickly growing, however, and growing a step beyond even her field of clairvoyant vision. Gawaine had studied the texts, obtained covertly from an extremely sensitive location within Camelot. The old conjurer Merlin was aware that the texts had disappeared, but was not yet able to discover the thieves, and had kept his concerns to himself for the time being. The Dark Lady had used her powers to cast a spell of doubt over his mind, and Merlin was paralyzed into relative inaction for now. The spell would not last long, however, and Gawaine was well aware of its tenuous hold. Soon, it would no longer be of consequence, and neither would the assistance of the Dark Lady. Gawaine himself would soon gather enough knowledge to ensure the success of his campaign, whether the Dark Lady would remain his ally or not. When all was done, she could become either his valued (though never trusted) adviser, or she would face damnation. The balance of power was gradually, though inevitably, being tipped in his favour. Though little else these days seemed so, of that much he felt certain.

As Gawaine abruptly informed his guards that he would be riding by himself briefly to the edge of the wood, these thoughts and others pervaded his being. As he approached the designated meeting place, Gawaine could feel the Dark Lady's aura encompass the whole of space, both visible and invisible to the eye, around him. Feeling its intoxicating pull, Gawaine struggled to exert his own pull right back...and to his mild amazement, it actually worked. Excellent; I was right. She is not fully aware of my reach. It will make the final blow more effective when it comes...

Arthur sat his throne, watching the a large fire roar in the fireplace. Just a few hours ago, that fireplace had held a large skewered boar, which just a little while ago had provided a sumptuous feast for dinner. He sat back, sighing sastifyingly and patted his stomach.

There was a musician playing a slow quiet melody on a lute nearby. But this wasn't the time for quiet. The impending attack from Gawaine had given Arthur more energy than that. He had noticed other musicians had other instruments with them, including horns.

Arthur looked over at them. "I don't want that kind of music right now. Play me something loud and strong, with horns and a strong rhythm."

The lute-player stopped. "Yes, your Majesty." He turned to his colleagues, and they discussed it among themselves. They then turned back, playing a lively tune.

"That's more like it," Arthur said, sitting up and waving his hand around a little with the rhythm.

Just then, a young messenger came in. "My lord," he began, kneeling in respect. "there is a woman at the gates to see Queen Guinevere.....and she demands to see you before she does...what shall I tell her?"

Arthur cocked in his puzzlement. Demands? Someone actually demanding to see Arthur? That was odd. Most seemed almost scared of Arthur, though he didn't know exactly why. This woman's request must be interesting.

He put his hand up for the musicians to stop, and the room went quiet. "Send her in."

A woman walked in, looking rather courageous.

"What is it I can do for, good woman?"

Just as Mrs Anderson was about to speak up, she saw a dusted and tired looking Guinevere enter the large room. "My lady!" the woman exclaimed, throwing herself at the queen's feet. "Oh, I have been so worried!" the woman babbled, "people in town saw you leave but nobody saw you coming back. You promised me to come by for dinner, so that we could talk about compensation for the loss of my husband and son...but you never came." She glanced up, an accusing look in her eyes. "You never came."

Sonak looked down at the woman and sighed. All the while riding up the long road leading to the castle, people had been bowing down at her and casting worried glances in her direction. "I will come by in the morning, please leave," she replied, "I have been too busy elsewhere, so it slipped my mind."

Before the woman could protest, guards had already guided her back to the main entrance of the castle, and motioned for her to go home. She sighed and sat down in the nearest chair to the fire, warming her freezing cold hands. "I will be requiring a bath," she muttered, and noticed from the corner of her eyes that a few young girls sped off, apparently to see to the demand.

Sonak eyed the figure in the other chair, and gasped. Before her sat her chief engineer, all dressed up as a king. "Mr Jacobson," she started, "what is the meaning of all this?" She waved him off. "No belay that, you may answer that when I have returned. I need to freshen up." With that, she left the room, and with surprising ease, found her way through the immense castle to her chambers - and her bathroom.

An hour later, she re-appeared in the great room. "Now....what is going on lieutenant?" she repeated, after smoothing her dress and sitting back down in the chair. "Where is everyone else?"
Re: Mission: Camelot

Arthur was glad to see Guinevere arrive at the right time. This allowed the issue to be resolved swiftly, thankfully.

When she requested a bath, he found that odd. She had just had one the day before. Why did she need another one?

"Mr Jacobson, what is the meaning of all this?" She then waved her hand, "No belay that, you may answer that when I have returned. I need to freshen up." She got up and left the room.

"Freshen up? What did that mean? And why did she call me 'Mr Jacobson', and the meaning of what? The conflict with Gawaine? Surely she must know."

One of his advisors, Gares, stood by. "I do not know, My Lord. Perhaps something that happened on her journey affected her."

"Perhaps."

Sometime later, she reappeared. He didn't see the need to do it, but he had to admit, she looked much better than when she arrived. She sat down next to him. "Now....what is going on lieutenant? Where is everyone else?"

Arthur was puzzled. "My dear Guinevere, why do you persist in calling me by such strange titles? Jacobson? Lieutenant? What such titles are these?"

She looked at him as if she had no idea what he was talking about.

"And if by "everyone else", you are refering to the Knights of the Roundtable, they are out this evening guarding the Castle, and readying for any attack that Gawaine might make."

Again, she came up blank. "What attack?"

"What do you mean, 'what attack'? Do you not remember?" She shook her head. "Gawaine has begun an uprising to overthrow Lancelot and even myself after what Lancelot had accidentally down. Do you not remember any of this?"

She slowly shook her head.

"Your memory has been affected." He turned to Gares. "Send word for Merlin to come immediately. I know what I told him to do earlier but this is different. And send out a rider and ask Morgaine to come and provide aid, if she is willing. I am hoping she can help."

"Yes, my Lord." He left to see to his orders.

Arthur turned back to Guinevere. "Don't worry, my dear. We'll get you the help you need."

<OOC: backposting - sorry guys but had some RL probs to deal with>

Reckus had been helping Liam down to Sickbay when he felt the ship jolt again. ~ What the hell is going on?! ~ hethought to himself. This was getting beyond a joke -all they needed now was for the crew to start feeling 'sea sick' and he'd have a sickbay full wanting treating. He managed to steady himself and carry on down the corridor, but before he had taken 10 steps the ship rocked again and he was knocked to his feet.

When he came to he found himself standing in the countryside, with Sonak and the others. He didnt recognise where he was but he had the extremely stange feeling of being weighed down with something. He looked down and saw that the heavy feeling was being caused by the amount and type of clothing that he had on. He was covered in chain mail and steel armour. This was covered by a large white smock
that was covered by the image of three gold lions on a blue blackground. He wore a leather belt around his waist, which held a sword in its scabbard on his left. His right hand was leaning on a large shield, which bore the same image that was on his overshirt. He noticed that
the other male members of the crew were similarly attired and that L'Ola and Sonak were both wearing extremely old fashioned medievil ladies costume.
~ Damsels in distress ~ he thought to himself. But just what was going on??

"What did just happen?" Sonak asked puzzled. The group shrugged their shoulders and turned to see a group of men on horses came riding towards them swiftly.

One of the men turned towards Jatan. "Lord Lancelot, there is a disturbance in Cornwall that needs your attention."

"Ok" replied Jatan. ~ Lancelot?! ~ he thought to himself.

"Here is your horse my lord" Jatan turned to see his squire bring his horse to him. It was none other than Liam, dressed to accompany the knights to the battle as was customary.

"Thank you" Jatan replied, placing his foot in one of the stirrups and swinging his leg smartly over the horse. Liam passed his shield up to him and then mounted his own horse.

"Please excuse me ladies" he said, giving a slight bow as he rode off with some of the men.

They rode off to join some of the other men waiting for them over the brow of the next hill. As Jatan rode he noticed a clinking under his chin which made him look down. He saw some sort of emblem on a chain around his neck, which was banging against
his chest as the momentum of the horse made him bounce up and down in the saddle. Shortly they stopped to regroup.

"Sir Bedivere!" called one of the men. "We found Sir Lancelot"

~ Oh my god ~ Reckus thought ~ now I know ~

Bedivere turned round - it was Admiral Reckus. "Lancelot, I'm glad that they found you!" he said. Reckus saw that his father had the same emblem around his neck. He couldnt figure why neither Liam nor his father recognised him as Jatan but as Lancelot.

"Let us head to the south!" called Bedivere to the men around him.

As they slowed their pace, Jatan ran the information that he had been given so far through his mind and began to piece together where and who he was.
Somehow the crew had ended up in 13th Century England, when King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table held peace in the land. He was Sir Lancelot, generally regarded as the the greatest fighter and swordsman of all the knights of the Round Table. He was also the first knight to be placed in that greatest of orders. Nick was Merlin, the magician and close ally of Arthur's. Liam was his squire, so possibly his son or nephew. Jatan remembered that Lancelot had a son, named Galahad, who eventually also joined the round table.
His father was Sir Bedevire, who was the knight that was with Arthur at the last great battle, and who cast the sword Excalibar into the great lake. The same lake infact, that Lancelot had been found by when a baby.

Jatan smiled as he remembered all the great stories of the Knights that he had enjoyed as a kid - and now he was his hero - Sir Lancelot! He looked down at the symbol on the chain around his neck - a red dragon, round table and cross. He struggled to remember what each meant. The Red Dragon was the sign of their loyalty to the king as it was on Arthurs shield and coat of arms, the cross was to remind them that they were to live pure and stainless lives, to stive after perfection and thus attain the Holy Grail. Finally, the round table was illustrative of the Eternity of God, the equality, unity, and comradeship of the Order, and singleness of purpose of all the Knights He smiled as he ran his finger over the emblem.

He was determined to uphold their good name and deeds, no matter how long he spent in their order

The hooves of the horses thundered over the moonlit grass. The forest up ahead was an eerie sight. It's magnificent trees slowly danced in the wind. The riders slowed their horses to a slow gallop as they were swallowed by the forest's broad opening. It was dark, but they'd have to navigate with the moonlight that peered through the thick roof of leaves above. Marcus went up front, and led his fellow infiltrators over the small path that curled itself through the with darkness enthralled forest.

The quietness of the forest made Marcus feel uneasy. Normally you'd hear animals and other creatures sneak around at night, but tonight the only sound was the occasional rustle of the leaves in the wind. It was as if the forest's inhabitants felt something was going on. Marcus stuck his hand in the air. "Halt!" he dismounted, and bound his horse to a nearby tree, unsheathing his sword. "What's going on?" one of the men whispered. Marcus hushed him, and sneaked down the path. It turned slightly to the right, and Marcus could see a source of illumination.

A smile appeared on his face, as he walked back down the his men. "Borrick, get down," he ordered a small figure with a dark skin. The man jumped down, and took a dagger in each of his hands. "Tell me," he said eagerly. "Looks like our friend Arthur has dispatched some scouts, but those idiots carry torches," Marcus whispered. Borrick snickered, which the little man always did, even if things weren't funny at all.

Marcus motioned for the man to follow him, and they both sneaked along the path. Arthur's scouts were moving the other way, so this would be a simple back attack. Marcus felt the adrenaline coursing through his veins, and by Borrick's increased rating of taking breaths he figured the little man felt the same. The scouts appeared to be holding a conversation, boasting about the number of girls they'd slept with, and what kind of adventures they'd had.

The attack came swift, Borrick and Marcus both took a scout. Marcus felt his sword run through the back of his victim. He could feel every bone he scraped past and every organ he pierced... and he enjoyed it. The scouts dropped dead instantly, and the familiar snicker from Borrick broke the silence of the forest. Marcus eyes his companion and smiled. "Shall we leave a message?" he said. Borrick nodded, immediately understanding what Marcus meant.

The two arrived back at the horses, where the other gave them questioning looks. "You'll see," Marcus said to them with a smile, as he unbound and mounted his horse again. "Let's go!" The group came into motion again, and one minute later the men burst out in laughter. The sight in front of them was surrealistic. In the light of their own torches Arthur's scouts hung from the trees, their lifeless bodies drowsily swaying left and right in the occasional wind. "I think this'll leave a message," Marcus said, eyeing the dead man with a smile on his face.

"But enough playing around," he continued, "let's focus on the task at hand." The men nodded, and they continued. The rest of their trip went without encounters, and, as agreed to with Gawaine, they bound their horses to the trees near the forest edge. Marcus looked down the hill, and there, partially surrounded by a river and a lake, lay Camelot. "Okay my friends, there She is. Take a good look at Her, by the end of tomorrow we'll be feasting on Her wealth and women," Marcus said smiling. The men laughed.

"Help?" Sonak enquired, "I am quite well thank you." She was only very little familiar with the Arthurian legend, and was very confused at how they got here, and why they were here. Was she really expected to play out a part as Arthur's spouse? She noticed that the king was looking at her, a worried look in his eyes. "I am just...fatigued of my journey today with Lady Morgaine," she finally lied, and hated doing so.

She leaned back in the large chair and shivered; it was fairly cold in the drafty castle, too cold for Vulcan comforts. With effort, she dragged the massive chair closer to the fire, and wrapped a woolen blanket around her shoulders. She also pulled up her feet onto the chair seat, arranged her long dress and pulled the blanket closer. "Is there some way we can get some more heat in this room?" she asked, her teeth almost shattering with the cold, "I am freezing."

Sonak looked up at Jacobson, wondering why he was pretending to be Arthur, and why he had reacted so oddly at being addressed by his name and rank. "Lieutenant, what do you know of this castle?" she asked at last, daring to name him by his rank, knowing that it would get her an odd reaction, "and where is the rest of our crew?"

Just at that moment, Merlin walked in, also looking rather confused, and very surprised to see his commanding officer sitting huddled up in a blanket by the fire. Not long after that, Lady Morgaine also entered the room.

Lieutenant? crew? What strange references were these? Was Guinevere the victim of some spell or ailment?

Arthur was relieved to see Merlin and Morgaine. Now maybe they would figure out what was ailing Guinevere.

"Merlin! Morgaine! Please, over here quickly. Queen Guinevere has become the victim of some terrible ailment that has affected her. She keeps addressing me as "Lieutenant", a term I don't understand and asking me about some crew of some kind and where they are. She also doesn't remember this castle, and is complaining of chills. Please, do what you can for her. I fear she has been the victim of some dark spell. Or worse, gone delirious. I think she may even been suffering from the Black Death, though I don't know how."

He looked to Merlin and Morgaine, almost pleading. Yet they looked between himself and Guinevere, with looks of confusion on thier faces.

"Why do you just stand there, with dumb-founded looks on your faces. Do something, please! Perhaps blood-letting?"

Sonak, who had been sitting huddled up in the blankets by the fire jumped literally at the mention of blood-letting. As a medic, she'd been taught about this ancient method, that was believed to help bleed out an illness. This method was unorthodox, and hardly hygienic, as in the middle ages, sterilization of equipment was barely heard of.

"Oh no," she said, "there will be no blood-letting." ~and not just because I do not like needles or this unhygienic and barbaric method, but also because I will not bleed red, as a human does~ she thought, and exchanged a stricken look with her first officer. L'Ola, however, remained unmoved and even nodded as if she were agreeing with Jacobson - or Arthur, as he believed he truly was him, apparently.

She shivered, and ducked back into the blankets. "And it truly is cold here!" she nearly exclaimed, "Nick, do please tell him that this is no joke, and that he is Lieutenant Jacobson? Had I a tricorder, I would prove it to him." She looked sideways and didn't miss the expression of disbelief on Nephi's face; he truly was thinking she was his wife, and that she had gone mad.

Pleading, she looked at her friends. "Tell him," she told them, but only Nick's face registered the same confusion as hers did, and he quietly shook his head. With a sigh, she sat back in her chair, pondering on what to do. For the moment, she would wait. ~Oh Jatan, where are you?~ she thought, then remembered that he'd been called Lancelot, and had been called to a battlefront. Stricken, she stared at her first officer. ~our crew is replacing key figures in history~ she thought at him ~and some really believe they are those people...we must do something!~

Resolved, she walked over to Nephi, and placed her hand on his face, gently entering his mind with the purpose to show him who he really was.

It was a very dark night, clouds covered the moon, no stars could be seen. Gawaine had gone into the forest and Marcus rode out with the men he had selected the men.

Fox stayed among the men remaining in the camp, prepairing for the battle tomorrow. Finally when he thought he was done prepairing, he sat down at the fire, listening to the tales of the men around it.

"Tomorrow we'll rule over Camelot and its land." One said

Another nodded "Yes." he said.. "It would be a pleasure to kill those rond table knights."

Fox joined in.. "I'd want to take on Lancelot, but Gawaine has forbidden that. He wants to take him himself."

"Yea." another said.. "to avenge his brothers."

As it got later several men including Fox left the ring around the fire to get some sleep. He entered something which looked like a tent and laid down on some kind of mat. Not much later he was fast asleep.

Several hours later, it was still dark, men walked around the camp, waking everyone. "Get up... Get ready." they said. "we're riding out."

Fox got up, took his sword which he fastened at his waist. Next he took a tube with arrows which he hung on his back and grabbed his bow and walked to his horse which he had tied to a tree.

He put the saddle on his horse and made sure it was good secured. Now he was truely ready to ride out against Camelot.

Bedivere was glad to see Lancelot - after Gawaine's threats, he had become worried that something might have indisposed him.
After riding for some time Bedivere held his hand aloft to signal the men to stop. They circled around him.

"Let us stop here for the night. We have riden as far as possible and our horses need watering and rest" he ordered.
The men dispersed and began to set up a small camp. One man went in search of food and returned with a wild boar over his shoulder. "We shall be eating well tonight" he grinned as he held a pheasant up in his left hand.

Soon a fire was burning, as Liam turned the meat and served mead and ale to the knights. "Galahad, you are no longer a page now you know" laughed Bedivere.

~ So Liam is indeed Galahad ~ thought Reckus.

"I know" replied Galahad. "But I do not mind serving you for now"

Bedivere studied Lancelot carefully. "What ails you Brother Knight?" he asked.

"I do not know" replied Reckus, feeling as if he were truely Lancelot. "I am tired and in need of rest. It is truely tiring keeping one ear always open incase of Gawaine's advancement"

"Gawaine will never trap you" replied Bedivere. "He thinks he knows too much when in truth he knows nothing"

"That may be but he is indeed a courageous and just Knight" replied Lancelot. "and he has every reason to have a quarral with me"

As they sat eating and drinking they heard hoofs in the distance, each man dropped his food and laid hand on his sword. As the horseman approached they saw he wore the red lion of the King.

"Identify thyself!" called Bedivere, wary incase it was a trap.

"I come to you in the name of good King Arthur Sir Knights" the horseman answered. "I bring you news from Camalot!"

"I come to you in the name of Good King Arthur Sir Knights" the horseman answered.

"Long live King Arthur" cried the men in unison.

"I have ridden hard and fast to catch up with you" continued the messenger. "I have news from Camelot"

"News from Camelot? Pray do tell boy" ordered Bedivere.

"King Arthur has requested your presence at the castle. He is worried that an attack from Gawaine is imminent and also that the Queen has been taken ill at a grave time"

"Guinivere?" Lancelot felt his heart flutter as he and the Queen had been romantically involved. "Is she seriously ill?"

"Nay Sir Lancelot, she is physically perfect yet she suffers from some sort of strange head complaint" replied the messenger.

"What do we do?" Bedivere looked at Lancelot.

"You must come back to Camelot immediately" said the messenger. " Tis a matter of grave urgency"

"Very well" replied Lancelot. "We shall return to Camelot now. But we need to let Sir Bors know that we shall not be able to join him in Cornwall"

Bedivere nodded. "You man" he addressed one lower knight. "Yes Sir Knight?" he replied.

"Ride on to Cornwall and join with Sir Bors and his men. Sir Tristam should be with him by now. Tell him it is King Arthur and God's will that we return to Camelot"

"Yes my lord" the knight replied, bowing.

Lancelot and Bedivere jumped up on their horses, allowing Galahad to pass them their shields. Galahad then jumped up to his horse and mouted him effortlessly.

"Let us go now to Camelot" said Bedivere, Lancelot nodding.
The three set off with the messenger in tow, and rode as fast as they could towards Camelot and their King.

OOC: back post.

Nick intercepted Sonak on her way from the main chamber. Some servants had run out earlier to run a bath for her majesty. He grabbed her by the arm and dragged her off in the opposite direction.

"What are you doing!?" she demanded of her first officer.

"I've gotta show you something," Nick said, "And no I havn't lost my mind. I know who I am and who you are."

"Good. I can't say the same thing for Nephi."

They reached the statue of Uthur and Nick shook his hand. The passage opened and they decended the stairs. Shortly they arrived in the wizards lair and found L'Ola standing there waiting. Nick moved over the an object which stood as tall as he and was covered in burlap. Sonak looked at L'Ola inquisitivly.

"Hey I know about as much as you do," She said with a shrug.

Nick pulled off the blanket to reveil the cylindar. Sonak raised an eyebrow.

"It's a metal cylindar," L'Ola said, quite unimpressed.

"Watch." He ran his hand over the writing and the object began to open. Soon it was open in half displaying it's contents, which were nothing like the contents of the rest of the room. NIck picked one of the objects up.

"This is what looks to be a dermal regenerator," He pointed to another, "This looks like a power cell from a disrupter of some sort. I can't read any of the text yet but I'm slowly beginning to identify the devices."

"You mean you have, or rather Merlin had, technology in this era?" L'Ola asked.

"It looks that way," Nick said. He put down the object in his hand and closed the cylindar. He ran his hand over the markings again and it changed form to match the surroundings.

"I should get back to the main chamber," sonak said, "Follow a few minutes behind me."

The two nodded their heads and Sonak walked back up the stairs.

~moments later~

Nick stood in horror as Sonak placed her hand on Nephis face. He stepped foreward but had a hand placed on his chest by L'Ola.

"Let her do it." She said.

Bedevire and Lancelot turned towards Camelot, they knew if they rode hard they would be there in under 2 hours. The messenger followed behind them, and Galahad rode alongside them, driving his horse on. Although Galahad was still only a squire, he tried to live by the principles that the Knights lived by. He was already well accomplished as a swordsman and rider and he was strong and fair.

"My lords, how much further?" he called to them.

"Not long my dear Galahad, we shall be there shortly" called back Lancelot, breathing harshly in the slight night wind that blew in their faces.
They soon came upon the hill before the castle and they could see it before them, tall and proud, home to their ruler and friend. The messenger overtook them and halted them quietly.

"Gawaine has posted men to keep an eye out for you Sir Knights" he said in hushed tones.

"That Gawaine thinks of everything" breathed Bedevire huffily.

"Fear not Brother Knight, we shall find a way to thwart him and gain access to yonder castle" smiled Lancelot.

"But how?" asked Galahad. "For if they have posted sentries looking for us we shall surely not pass"

Bedevire shook his head. "Fear not young Galahad for I have prepared for such an occurance" he replied. "Follow me" he called to the rest of the party, turning towards a small copse of trees.

They controlled the horses to stealthily move through the ground around them. They moved slowly and quietly towards a small crop of stones that marked the end of the trees. Bedevire motioned for them to follow him to the largest of the stones which hid them from any view of the area. He jumped down from his horse and to the astonishment of the others, managed to roll the rock to the side. Picking up the reins of his horse, he led the way into a small tunnel beyond the rock. The others followed suit; with the messenger following Lancelot and Galahad bringing up the rear. Galahad turned to roll the rock back to cover the entrance and followed after the others, guiding his horse.
They had gone no more than 100 yards when a voice stopped them in their tracks.

"Halt!" came the voice. "Name thyself oh scurrilous knave...or face thy destiny with the feel of cold steel through thine heart"

Bedevire nodded and replied back towards the source of the voice. "I am Sir Bedevire, Knight of the Order of the Round Table. I come in the name of God and King Arthur"

The owner of the voice came closer to the group and Lancelot saw that it belonged to one of the Kings guards. He looked at Bedevire and looked to see that the Knight had the emblem of the Round Table around his neck. He held out his right arm, upon which Bedevire mirrored him and clasped the underside of the guards arm. The guard did the same.

"Welcome oh brave Sir Knight - welcome home to Camelot. In the name of good King Arthur" to Lancelot's relief the guard smiled.
Lancelot then repeated the words that Bedevire spoke, followed by Galahad and the messenger, albeit with slightly different words. The guard took care of the horses whilst Bedevire led the way up to the castle.

"I had this passageway secretly made on the King's orders" said Bedevire. "None were to know of it's existance, save he and I"

"It's amazing my lord Bedevire" said Galahad.

The tunnel led to a secet passageway that led into one of the corridors on the second floor of the castle. A small peephole let the knights check that no one would spy them coming out into the corridor. They emerged out from the panel and made sure it was back securely before setting off, following the messenger this time to see Arthur.

They came to a door at the end of the corridor - Arthur's private chamber. The messenger knocked three times and opened the door when he heard the king boom "Enter!"

The messenger walked into the room and dropped to his knee and bowed his head.

"Sire, I have bought two of your best Knights to you, as requested" he said.

Arthur turned round. "Aah well done my loyal subject" he said, congratulating his servant. "You are honest and true and I think you for bringing them to me so promptly"

He straightened his crown. "Well, show them in boy" he said. "Dont let them stand unjustly outside my door"

The messenger stood up, bowed and walked backwards, stopping by the door.

"Sir Bedevire, Sir Lancelot and Squire Galahad your majesty" he announced as the three trooped in.

They walked towards Arthur, unsheathed their swords and dropped on to one knee, leaning on the sword.

"My liege" they said, bowing their heads.

Guinevere was talking nonsense. Calling Merlin by some strange name of Nick? What was this mysterious device she refered to, a tricorder? She again used both Lieutenant and Jacobson.

He found himself very confused, then suddenly she put her hand on his face. He heard her voice inside his head My mind to your mind. My thoughts to your thoughts. She was attempted some sort of sorcery!

He reached up and knocked her hand away. "What sort of Devilry is this? Reaching into my thoughts? I had feared you insane, but now I am convinced you are possessed by some dark spirit. Merlin, why do you not stop her?"

Just then, a knock came at the door. "Enter!" Arthur called.

Here, finally were two men he knew he could trust. He motioned for them to stand. "I bid you rise, my noble Knights. What news do you bring of Gawaine's treacherous plans?"

They stood. Lancelot spoke. "My Lord, he hath set up quite an effective barrier, my Lord. I had to use the tunnel to make my way here. He has many men and weapons. What preparations shall I make?"

"Put archers on the walls, and surrond the castle with as many men as are able. Keep my best warriors just inside the wall, in case it is breached. Go now, and prepare."

Lancelot bowed and left. Arthur turned to his attendants. "Bring me my armor. I must be ready to fight!" He turned to Guinevere. "I will deal with you later," he said as his chain-mail was brought.

"Deal? Fight?" Sonak asked, utterly confused now. She gasped when she recognized her father-in-law, and Jatan, all dressed up as knights. Names told her something, but she didn't know enough of the Arthurian legend to precisely know who they were. "Dad?" she asked, knowing that her father in law had wanted her to call him 'dad' rather than Mr Reckus or even Admiral Reckus.

The man gazed at her, his face one mask of confusion. "Thee calls me dad, my queen, but I am not thy father. I would be Sir Bedivere, Knight of the Round Table." He turned to Arthur. "Thy wife behaves strangely my lord, there are tales going around about her. Thee would be wise to have her examined."

This confused Sonak even more, and she exchanged a glance with Nick, who was also busy putting on his armour. He didn't notice, so she looked back to 'Arthur' and 'Bedivere'. "I..." she started, then felt she was gently seized by her arms.

"Guide her to her chambers," she heard Nephi say, "and guide her well. She may not leave until I return from the battle."

"What?" Sonak asked, though she let herself be guided. She had no idea what was going on, but one thing was clear: apparently only she and Nick remembered who they were, and every other crewmember thought he was a certain character from the Arthurian legend. The guards led her to what appeared to be her private chamber, and looked the door behind them after they left.

When she walked over to the nearest window, she knew that trying to escape would prove to be a very dangerous venture. With a sigh, she sat down on the bed, still wrapped in the blankets.

Hours later, she looked up and saw that dawn was setting in. She was also growing extremely hungry and the guards seemed to have forgotten to see to her need for sustenance. "Guard!" she called, banging on the heavy wooden door. Then she realised, as a telepath, she could probably mind control the guards, even though at present it seemed a bad idea.

She heard a key being turned and stepped back when the door swung open. "Thee called my queen?" the young guard asked innocently, "dost thou need anything?"

"Yes," Sonak replied, "I need water, and food. Please remind the cook that I am a vegetarian and that I will not have my food cut with knives that have been used for cutting meat."

The guard blushed and nodded. "I will see to it." With that, he closed the door. Sonak listenend closely, and heard that only one guard was leaving, to see to her command. ~open the door~ she thought, and indeed the door opened. As soon as the door was opened wide enough, she reached for the guards shoulder and he slumped to the floor. Quickly, she grabbed for her cloak, and hurried out of the castle, not knowing that Morgaine saw her leave and sent a guard to find King Arthur.

From their position between the trees a lot of movement around Camelot could be spotted. Then all of a sudden Marcus realized a mistake he'd made But there was still time to make it undone. "Borrick, you're with me, the rest of you, stay here, and dare not move," Marcus commanded, quickly retrieving his horse, motioning for Borrick to do the same. "What's going on master?" Borrick asked. "I'll tell you on the way," Marcus said, hoisting himself onto the horse, speeding off into the forest again.

About five minutes later Borrick caught up with him. Their speed made the sandy path through the enormous cluster of trees appear small, and they needed all their concentration on keeping their steeds from bashing into trees. After a travel of about half an hour Marcus slowed their pace, and Borrick came riding next to him. "Master?" he asked expectantly. "We're almost there," was all Marcus gave away.

Then Borrick saw it. They had returned to the spot where Arthur's scouts hung from the trees. "We're going to take them down, and put on their garments," Marcus explained, climbing into a tree. "Brilliant!" Borrick smiled, "we gonna infiltrate them?" Marcus nodded, while his cut the rope with his sword, causing one of the scouts to drop down. Borrick took care of the other. "We swap everything, clothes, weapons, jewelry, everything," Marcus said, already stripping his victim of his clothes. "But their clothes are stained with their blood, and holes from our swords!" Borrick said. "Not to worry, we'll think of something. We ran into some of Gawaine's men, and took care of them after a bloody fight," Marcus explained. Borrick snickered. "Excellent master, excellent."

The two set their own clothes on fire with the torches that still fiercely burned alongside the path. Marcus decided to not get rid of his sword just yet. "Let's head back," Marcus said, and the two sped off again. Upon arriving back at the others, the scenery down at Camelot had changed even more. Even from this distance archers could be seen on the walls of Camelot, next to tiny fireplaces, which were probably going to be used to set their arrows ablaze.

"Who goes there!" Gawaine's men called, all four poiting their weapons in the direction the hooves came from. "It is us, you moron," Marcus said. "Master, my apologies, I had no idea," one of the men apologized. "As you see we have 'purchased' ourselves another outfit. These garments'll get me and Borrick access to Camelot. We'll sabotage them from within, and we'll be sure to send you a signal once it's safe for you to climb Camelot's walls."

"You," Marcus pointed one of his men who held a bow, "give that to Borrick. The signal will be simple, we'll set an arrow aloft, and shoot it straight in the air, close to the city wall. That will be the point where you can safely enter Camelot then, but be sure not to take too long to get in, I cannot guarantee anything. Is everything clear?" The men nodded, and Marcus gave them an approving nod.

"Very well, you need to get yourselves as close as safely possible to Camelot, and then wait for our signal, Borrick, let's go." Marcus strode out of the forest, followed by Borrick. "Master?" Borrick asked, with a faint hint of nervousness in his voice. "Yes?" "How do we pretend to be a soldier from Camelot? I mean, how do such people do?" "Simple, we'll just be decent, praise Arthur and God, and swear on our faith." "Very well," Borrick said, now a bit more confident. "You wanna go in via the main gate, master?" "That is my plan yes, to raise no suspicion," Marcus said coldly. "But what about our names? They may know the name 'Marcus'." "You're right, I should change my name, I'll think of something." "And what about me?" "You can just keep yours." "Oh, alright." The two men continued their way to Camelot. The grassy plain the had to cross to get there was spookily lit by winks of moonlight that managed to peer through the clouds every now and then. You just wait Camelot, Marcus thought, by the end of tomorrow... you're mine!

The probing shafts of sunlight from the coming dawn alerted Gawaine and the Dark Lady to the passage of time, and both agreed it was time to go about setting their plans into motion. They had been negotiating careful, devious plans all night, and Gawaine at last felt certain he was on the verge of grasping the incredible powers whose secrets had finally been revealed to him. His talisman, the delicately crafted stiletto, had been imbued with an otherwordly energy, the power to cast bolts of lightning summoned from the nether-regions. It was indeed a useful tool, but not the only one at his disposal. Before the two consiprators parted, and unbeknownst to the Dark Lady, Gawaine had managed to make off with a strange metal orb as large as his fist. With it, as he had seen her demonstrate, he could make himself, or anyone in posession of this incredible talisman, invisible to the eye. It would serve him well in the upcoming assault on Camelot.

The Dark Lady observed Gawaine with a keen eye as the errant knight-turned-warlord rode back to his den of wolves to begin a new hunt. A slight, wicked curve upturned the corners of her mouth as she considered the possibilities about to be realized with Gawaine's campaign. The devilish grin remained fixed on her sharp features as she strode swiftly into a modest hut somehow constructed in the midst of (and seemingly a part of) a thick grove of twisted trunks. Within the dim recesses of her sanctuary, a large carved obelisk of stone stood in one corner, covered in strange pagan symbols. The Dark Lady proceeded to touch five of the symbols in quick, practiced succesion, and each one began to glow in turn with a ghostly light. The sequence complete, all symbols glowed in unison and flashed once, afer which the obelisk seemed to split down the middle, flinging two halves open as if the gates of Hell had been breached.

As the Dark Lady stepped into the space beyond the stone doors, unnatural light revealed the fantastic treasures to be found there, and as she reached for one item in particular, the Dark Lady's ghoulish grin only deepened...

Nick pulled on his armor pretending to ignore the supposedly crazy Sonak. ~I still havn't forgotten~ he thought to her. ~if you can get away meet me in the lair. We'll sort through these gadgets~

~ok~ came the reply.

~don't resist~ She cocked her head at him just as a pair of hands clamped down on her shoulder to guider her away.

After she stood outside in the cold night, barefeet into the damp soil of the castle's botanic garden, Sonak remembered Nick's silent message. ~the lair~ she thought, paining her memory ~where was that again?~ Fortunately she remembered, and she sped back into the castle.

Adrenalin rushed as she anxiously glanced around if she was being followed. When she had made sure that she wasn't, she entered the lair and hurried down the stairs into Merlin's den. Here, she would wait for Nick to come back.

Now that she was alone, she had time to wonder how they had gotten here. There had been no anomaly, science had reported nothing out of the ordinary, nor had navigation. ~Is this a holodeck then?~ she wondered.

"Computer, end program." Nothing happened. ~not a holodeck then~ she pondered, as she picked up what seemed to be an old-style tricorder. ~those are only found in musea these days~ she continued, as she examined other items. "If not a holodeck, and not an anomaly, how did we get here?" she murmured.

Startled, she sat up as she heard hurried footsteps come down the stairs. Frantic, she looked around but there was nowhere to hide, any space was too small for her. ~now what?~ she wondered, as she flattened herself against the wall behind the large wooden door that led to the lair, an old-style phaser cluthed in her hands.

<Okay this is sort of a back post>

L'Ola took another look at the devices *What on earth are they doing here?* she wondered. *How could Merlin have this? Everything we've planned for could be lost.*

Nick called over, "Ready to go?"

She jumped and something inside of her snapped back, "Yeah, of course. Think I was just daydreaming or something..."

They went up to the main room she hadn't been in there before, and L'Ola took a good look around to get to grips with the surroundings. She saw a group of people crowded round their King. *Now see being Arthur would be much worse than whoever it is I'm supposed to be. Arthur won't survive much longer. He has no idea what that fool Gawaine is planning. They'll kill each other off and someone else will have to take control...*

"Hey, L'Ola. Look at what they're gonna do to Sonak."

Morgaine heard someone whispering to her but had no idea what they were talking about. She saw it was Merlin, and that he seemed to be commenting on Lady Guinevere. "She doesn't seem to be in any danger. Let her be." Silently she slipped out of the hall and left the castle. She had a meeting and couldn't afford to be late.

"That wasn't the agreement. I have done everything you said, the assault was mine to plan."

"Why won't you listen to me?" Morgaine half-shouted, "You need to attack NOW. Something is happening at King Arthur's castle. Something strange."

Gawaine glared at her, "Do you expect me to believe you?"

"You have no choice, without me you will never have the power to succeed." She turned around and looked into the distance to what would surely one day become hers, if that nagging feeling in the back of her mind would stop.

He lowered his head, "You are right. Without you I would be powerless."

Morgaine spun round, unsure of what had just happened. She didn't know how, but something in her mind had just told her he was lying.

Arthur's armor was placed upon him. First, a long chainmail shirt was placed on him that protected from his shoulders down to his knees, followed by a mail coif over his head. Next, a breastplate was put on his chest. Then, plate armor was tied to his arms and legs. Flexible metal gloves were on his hands . Finally, Excalibur was place on his waist once again. Arthur was now ready for battle.

He walked out of his chambers. He passed through the corridors of the castle and up the stairs onto the enbattlements on the top of the wall. He spotted Lancelot and went over to him.

Lancelot bowed as Arthur approached. "My Lord Arthur."

"My noble Lancelot, how goest the preparations for battle against that vile traitor Gawaine?"

"Well, my Lord. We have archers scattered over the walls, and swords are being sharpened as we speak. By my estimate, we shall be ready by nightfall."

"Excellent. Carry on." Arthur continued along the wall to the tower at its corner. Climbing up the ladder, he found the sentry. "Anything passing or going of note?"

The sentries bowed. "None yet, my Lord. Though we do spot Gawaine's forces in the distance, yet they do not approach."

Arthur nodded. "Keep watch on them. Send word to me if anything more happens."

"Yes, my Lord."

Arthur needed to go find Merlin. He needed to speak with him to discuss Guinevere's suddenly changed state. He went to Merlin's lair, touching Uther's hand.

As he descended the stairs, he discovered Merlin's lair to be empty. "Merlin?" There was no answer.

As he looked around the room, he noticed several curious objects. These did not suprise him, as he understood little of the tools of Merlin's craft. As he turned back toward the door, he saw a figure behind the door. Pulling the door away, it revealed Guinevere, holding a strange object.

"Gunievere..." He looked between it and her in dismay. She had betrayed him. He loved her dearly, yet she had hidden truths from him. "My dear, my love, how could you do this to me?"

She looked at him pleadingly. "Wait, I can explain..."

"There is no explanation for such betrayal. Guards!" he called up the stairs.

Quickly, two guardsmen came down. "Yes, My Lord?"

"Ready a Stake with fuel in the courtyard. Queen Guinevere is to be burned at the Stake....for witchcraft."

(OOC: I would ask that no one attempt to rescue Sonak from this.)

Sonak stood frozen in fear. ~stake?~ she wondered ~what on earth is a stake, other than a wooden object?~ The truth of what Nephi just had orderd had not yet sunk in. She gazed down at the tricorder, which was now beeping oddly and found the readings to be disquieting. Something had happened to her chief engineer that made him believe that he was Arthur.

Before the guards came running down the stairs, she turned the tricorder on herself and it gave the usual readings for a Vulcan female. Again, she stared at the chief engineer. "Nephi...." she pleaded, "you are not who you think you are."

Then the guards arrived, seized her and carried her off. The tricorder fell from her hands as they roughly pushed her up the stairs and carried her outside. Only then, when she looked upon a stage at the centre of the courtyard, did she understand what Nephi had meant. ~I am going to be burned!~ she realised, and paled visibly.

The guards merely laughed at her discomfort. "Frightening, isn't it....witch" they jibed at her, "go on, do your magic and whisk yourself away. God will make sure that your powers will not work, while justice is being done. You tried to bewitch the king, and now it will cost you. In a few hours....then we will be freed of you."

Sonak was determined not to faint, no matter how weak she felt at hearing such injustice. ~though for this time, I probably would be a witch~ she thought ~I am a telepath, that is witchcraft~ She did struggle as they pulled her up the stake and placed her with her back against a large pole, tying her hands behind the pole. They also wrapped the rope once around her chest to keep her upright.

~Jatan!~ her mind screamed frantically, knowing by now that he believed he was Lancelot. Her father in law had not recognized her either, at least not as who she really was.

The guards stepped back when they were done. "Until the king returns, you have time to overthing your sins witch," they taunted, "and then we shall have justice. Who knows who you'ev bewitched by now."

Sonak leaned back against the pole and inhaled deeply, fighting down panic. She didn't know how long it had been but when she opened her eyes again, a large crowd had gathered and she could hear the sound of hoofs clattering against the road in the distance. Panick started to rise now, as she looked at the angry and frightened faces that looked up at her.

"I am not a witch," she called, scanning the crowd for the faces of her crew. Then she spotted Nephi, sitting high on his warhorse, holding a torch down to the dry wood that made up the stake. The wood started to smoke and then caught flame. "Nephi!" she cried, desperate for him to remember, "Neeee-phiiiii!" She spotted Jatan too, and his father and brother. "Jatan, stop him, please. Extinguish the fire!"

~my children~ she thought, her throat and lungs burning from the inhaled smoke. She was feeling the heat of the fire that was creeping closer to her. Soon, her long dress would catch fire, but she hoped her crew would come to their senses long before that. ~Nick!~ she thought frantically ~he too knows...where is Nick?~

Nick franticlly searched through his room. There had been a large scuffle here and equipment was scattered. Now he just had to make sure nothing was missing. Nothing was ~good...wait where's the tricorder?~ He scanned the room with his eyes and found the device open on the floor. It displayed the biosign of Nephi.

"Sonak," he whispered. He noticed the antiquated phaser lying next to it, it had been discharged.

"They got another witch!! Out to the court yard!!" Someone yelled in the hallway. Nick grabbed the phaser and tricorder and headed out to see what the comotion was about.

"I'm not a witch!" Sonak yelled from the stake.

"Well I say otherwise my dear," Nephi said as he tossed his torch into the wood.

"What are you doing!?" Nick yelled from the palace gate. He pulled out his phaser and pointed it at the CEO.

"Do you need to burn as well Merlin?" Nephi asked.

"Not today." He fired a pulse into Nephi and Jatan knocking them 15 feet off their horses. Guards came rushing but he kept them at bay with a wave of his hand. Nephi staggered and rubbed his head, he'd just slammed into a wall, as did Jate. Jate on the other hand was out cold.

OOC: I gotta continue later. Nephi wanna continue from getting up off the ground?

Nephi was lying on the ground, finding himself in strange surroundings. Touching the back of his head, he found that his hand was covered in a metal glove. Looking at himself, he realized he was fully clad in medieval armor.

He looked around. He was in a courtyard. There was a woman burning at the stake on a platform. After a moment, he realized it was Commodore Sonak! He stood quickly, and finding a sword at his side, he jumped up on the platform and cut her bonds with the sword. He pulled her out of the flames, and quickly extending her dress, which was burning.

He looked at her puzzled. "Commodore, what's going on?" he asked softly.

She whispered, quickly, "For the past couple days you've been thinking your King Arthur. In short, you and I both thought the other mad, but you accused me of witchcraft and ordered me burned at the stake."

Nephi was shocked at this, then saw Commander Martens walk up in similar clothing. A guard approaches. "My Lord, what has happened?"

He looked at the guard. "Oh, I uh, have changed my decision and declare this woman clear of any accusation of witchcraft." He turned back to Sonak and Nick. "Where can we talk?" he whispered.

Nick indicated a direction. They left quickly. Nephi found himself in a strange room. Looking at Nick in question, Nick replied, "Merlin's Lair."

"Merlin? They think you're Merlin??...Alright, could someone please explain what on earth is going on???"

Down in the lair, Nick wrapped a blanket around Sonak's shoulders in an attempt to stop her shivering. Her clothing was singed, her feet showing third degree burns and elsewhere first and second degree burns. The shivering wasn't so much cold, as the fire had been smothered by patting them out, instead of with water, but rather was from shock.

Sonak looked up when Nephi asked what was going on, though she didn't meet his questioning gaze. She couldn't look at him, though she did understand that it wasn't really him that had ordered her death. "I do not know," she replied, wincing as Nick pulled the blanket closer around her, "one moment I was on the Vesuvius, the next we were standing a good hour's ride by horse away from this castle, dressed for this era. Except for myself and Mr Martens, everyone seems to believe they are the person that they are portraying. You were the most convinced that you were Arthur, and there was no way that I could convince you that you were not."

She paused for a moment, swallowing before she continued. "I tried a mind meld on you, after which you accused me of witch craft. You ordered my death when you found me here, holding a tricorder." She reached for the offending object and showed her chief engineer the readings. "What do you make of this?" She asked, again without meeting his gaze.

Nephi closed the door to the Lair, then took the tricorder from her. This situation greatly puzzled him especially about the part where he actually thought he was Arthur.

"Well, first I would like to apologize for apparently nearly killing you. But as you can imagine, I was essentially a different person then. But anyway, on to this tricorder."

He opened the tricorder. "This is quite interesting. I have never had the opportunity to use one of these, because they've been out of use for decades, and a museum is just about the only place I've ever seen one. These tricorders had a limited memory, only capable of storing about 12 hours worth of data, because they were intended to be downloaded into the ships computer after not to long." He turned to Sonak. "Did I find you with this before that, Commodore?" She nodded. "Good, then I can see what this thing found out about me when I apparently had amnesia.

He accessed the data which he recognized as his own biosigns. He displayed the information, then made another scan of himself, and compared the two. "This is interesting," he said of his findings. "It would appear that there was an energy signature within me at the time I thought I was King Arthur. I remember vaguely about being shot. Did that happen right before I came to?"

They both nodded, Nick more noticeably than Sonak.

"Well then, it would appear that the phaser blast drove that energy out of me. The phaser didnt knock me out probably because the energy was providing a buffer to my body, but the phaser wiped out that buffer. The question is, how did that energy get there in the first place?"

When Gawaine returned to the camp everyone already sat on their horses ready to ride out, waiting for Gawaine's command.

Looking at all the men Gawaine's took his sword, lifted it into the air and shouted. "Let's go, let's ride to Camelot!"

"To Camelot" everyone shouted and made their horses to move out. Not much later the men on their horses galloped through the forest to Camelot.

Finally the reached the seam of the forest where they halted. Camelot could be seen in the distance. Fox made his horse ride to the front.

"They haven't spotted us yet, Sir" he said to Gawaine.

He nodded. "Get ready men, ride as fast as you can, take your bows and shoot the archers first."

All the men confirmed his command and took their bows in their hands ready to lanch the assault on the castle.

Nick pulled the blanket around Sonak to keep her warm. He teeth audibly chattered as shock had set in. He dug through his bag of gear to see if this alien Merlin had any medical supplies. Finding a hypospray he handed it to Jatan who adjusted it accordingly.

"This should help," he comforted and injected the contents into her neck. She sighed in relief. Jate took the tricorder from Nephi and scanned Sonak. A bright flash suddenly over took the crew and they shielded their eyes.

They all looked around in surprise, they were back in their uniforms on Vesuvius. Meylor and Dan looked confused and Sonaks burns were gone as with any evidence of injury.

"What the heck just happened?" Nick asked. A lone figure stepped foreward, he was dressed in an Admirals Uniform.

"Perhaps I can be of assistance."

"Q!?" Sonak said in surprise.

"In the flesh," Q replied, as he smirked at the Vesuvius crew, "and it was a most interesting experiment at that."

"Was it?" Sonak exploded, Vulcan control and shock completely forgotten, "how would you like it if one crewmember bands up with rogues and sets out to kill another? How would you like it, nearly being burned alive?"

"Now now ma capitaine," Q shushed, "there was never any real harm. Had your dear first officer not stepped in, I would've."

"Somehow, I seriously doubt that," Sonak muttered, as she sat back in her chair. Though the burns were gone, for some reason she still felt as if they were there. "Go away Q, and leave us alone. There is enough hurt in this universe without you trying to play with us."

<care to further post a bit as Q Fox? I'm starting the new mission thread monday/tuesday...unless Dan or Nick beat me to it>

"Go away Q, and leave us alone. There is enough hurt in this universe without you trying to play with us."

With that Sonak walked to the readyroom giving Nick command of the ship. Looking at her leave the bridge Q made a gesture with his hand and with a bright flash he disappeared.

In the readyroom Sonak sat down in a chair, being suprised by Q reappearing again in a chair close to her.

"It was just a harmless fun experiment. You can't imagine how it's like in the Continuem, thats why i came here to have fun with my friends."

"For one thing Q." Sonak answered "It wasn't fun and we're not your friends, now leave."

"Very well." Q replied "We'll meet again madam commodore." He continued and got up from his chair.

"Lets make that a goodbye Q" Sonak replied. Then Q made a gesture with his hand again and disappeared with a bright flash.

With the disappearing of Q a flash of light surrounded the Vesuvius. Not much later the earth could be seen again on the main screen. "Sensors are reading that we're back in our time again, Sir." the tactical officer announced.

"Alright." Nick replied. "Go in orbit around earth."

"Aye, Sir" Fox said and manouvred the Vesuvius into orbit.
