Two maple guitars

...hanging around in my shop this fall. New pictures 12/15/96

A new guitar, (Ditz) with flame maple sides and back, is ready to get a fingerboard. This guitar was taken to India where it was subjected to conditions that were too hot and humid. The owner had to leave it in Bombay for 6 months when the airline said she had already checked her maximum weight in baggage. I just took off the fingerboard. The bridge came off while the guitar sat in its case in bombay. The glue that I used on the bridge, binding, and the fingerboard liquified while in India. The rebuild required replacement of all three!

Above are both guitars ready for setup and strings. Blondie left, Ditz right.

Here is the old guitar (Blondie) after new I removed old bindings (!) installed new ones, new fingerboard, and refinished the entire instrument.

Now here she is, ready for music.

Here is Blondie: contrast enhanced to emphasize maple grain patterns. The back is flame, the sides are quilted. This guitar sounds sweet, deep, and warm.
