Stanford
Sir Charles V. Stanford

  • The Lord is my shepherd
  • Service in Bb Major, Op 10, 1879
  • Service in C Major, Op 115, 1909
The Mag and Nunc to this service, along with the G Major one, have to be my favourite of Stanford's works. The pure power and rush of emotion when performing this piece is overwhelming. The of the Gloria Patri is acappella and is puncuated by a crisp rhythm, makinga very resolute statement.
  • Service in A Major, Op 12, 1880
  • Service in G Major
The sop solo at the start of the Magnificat has to be considered one of the classics of British church music. I've sung the solo in the Nunc Dimittis
  • Three Motets dedicated to Alan Grey and the Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, 1905
    • Beati quorum via
Performed it once. The melody seems to rise out of no where as Stanford starts on an Ab for all the first entries. The effect is an almost double choir consisting of an SSA choir and an TBB choir. Awesome piece.
    • Justorum animae
    • Coelos ascendit hodie
  • Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem op 123
  • YE HOLY ANGELS BRIGHT Op 135 no 1
  • GLORIOUS AND POWERFUL GOD Op 135 no 3
  • O LIVING WILL
  • For lo, I raise up Op 145
