Diana
Gabaldon - Quite possibly the greatest writer of historical fiction
in our time…. *wistful sigh* I have three autographed books and have chatted briefly with Diana in person. She's a great lady and her website is maintained by the amazing Rosana Gatti. It's a wealth of info on upcoming books and Diana's booksigning tours etc.
Outlander (signed"Good luck in Scotland, Samantha"
)
Cross Stitch (U.K. version of Outlander)
Dragonfly in Amber
Voyageur
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
Barbara Erskine- Another Historical
Fiction nut. Why am I not doing this? *LOL* This woman
will send shivers down your spine…. Good stories, good facts, wonderful
characters. The link is to Barbara's bio on the publisher's website. This list of publications is incomplete, but they are my favourite books. There is a complete book bio on the website.
Lady of Hay
Kingdom of Shadows
Child of the Phoenix
Katherine Neville
- *grins* I have read "The Eight" four times. This should
speak for itself. "Calculated Risk" is good…. But on a different
level. "The Magic Circle" was an interesting concept, though I'm not sure exactly what I thought of it... "The Eight" was definitely her best work.
The Eight
A Calculated Risk
The Magic Circle
Jack Whyte - This man
has written Camelot in a way I find totally believabl. I love these books.
They are written in the first person perspective which can be a little difficult to follow if you're not used to it.
The Skystone
The Singing Sword
The Eagles Brood
The Saxon Shore
The Sorcerer
Uther
CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN
Lori Wick - This woman writes stories
that I CAN NOT put down.. I haven't read all of them, but the ones I have
make me cry and laugh. Beautiful words, beautiful stories, beautiful,
but not perfect people. And the Lord at the centre of it all.
Frank Peretti - This man has vision,
and an is inspired by the Lord, I believe. His stories of the supernatural
will make your blood run cold and send you to your knees in prayer.
We don't give enough credit to what goes on around us… but he also
warns of the dangers or giving spiritual warfare too much power.
Fantasy as it should be written. *smiles* With a few exceptions.
Michael Phillips/Judith Pella -
The Stonewyke Books - *grins* ok.. so maybe THIS is where my love
of Scotland started.. I read these the first time when I was about
10… they are adult books though… wonderful historical romance set amongst
the heather covered hills of my favourite country.
Gilbert Morris/Lynn Morris - Cheney
Duvall, MD - *grins* I LOVE these books. Cheney is a riot…
brash and sassy, confident and unsure. A real woman. Not a
perfect heroine, thank goodness. Can't wait to see what happens
with her and Shilogh…. maybe one day *laughs*
Brodie Thoene - *smiles*
The Jewish people have always been dear to my heart. This woman writes
some very moving stories about their struggles during the second World
War. Some might say this is a tired and old project, but this woman's
writing and her husbands research show not all Germans fell under Hitler's
sway… something that is often forgotten.
Marjorie Holmes - This woman is
a blessing to many. She has written some wonderful devotionals.
But my personal favourite is a trilogy she wrote. A fictional, but
biblical based account of Jesus’ life. Some may find this controversial,
but it only helped me understand His love and sacrifice more.
Two From Galilee
Three From Galilee
The Messiah
Tim LaHaye/Jerry B Jenkins - These
very brave gentlemen are writing a series on the most controversial and
dissected topic of Christianity. The End Times. These fictionalized
accounts of personal experiences by those left behind after the rapture
are awe inspiring, frightening, and thought provoking. They
do not drive one to terror, but also do not brush over the horror and uncertainty and pain that will fill those times. The books follow pre-tribulation doctrine with regard to the end times. Check out http://www.leftbehind.com/ created by Tyndale, the publisher of the series

CHRISTIAN NON FICTION
Tim LaHaye - This man and
his wife have written many good books for couples. I recommend their
books to anybody who is starting out or struggling, or just wants to know…
*smile*
I Love You, But Why Are We So Different
The Act of Marriage (sexually explicit, for engaged or married
couples only, I would think)
Alike In Love: When Opposites Attract
Bill and Lynne Hybels - Another
couple team who have helped me, personally through their books. Bill
has also written a phenomenal book on prayer which I have been strongly
recommended to read.
Fit to Be Tied - marriage, and choosing a life long companion.
Prayer - To Busy NOT to Pray
Philip Yancy - My life is changed
because of what God gave this man to write about. He was also an
editor for the Student Bible (NIV) which is the Bible I study from personally.
This man is not afraid to be humble and open his heart for the Lord to
use. Be blessed by his words….
What's So Amazing About Grace
The Jesus I Never Knew
Disappointment With God
Reaching out to an Invisible God
The Bible Jesus Read
FANTASY
Robert
Jordan - *smiles* I have an autographed copy of Path of
Daggers. This man is brilliant. What an incredible imagination.
It's that simple. If I ever write something half as good as these,
I will be happy for the rest of my life. Admittedly, some of the
books are obvious filler materials… but still!!!!
The Eye of the World The Great Hunt The Dragon Reborn The Shadow Rising Fires of Heaven Lord of Chaos Crown of Swords Path of Daggers Winter Heart
David Eddings
- (Also The
Eddings Web Ring). This husband/wife team was one
of my first tastes of fantasy and I have been addicted ever since….

weep and laugh and be mesmerized.
The Belgarion
The Mallorean
Belgarath the Sorcerer
Polgara

- This lady is busy… writes under two other names, but this is the one
I prefer….. good characters… silly plot lines…. and wonderful description….
*grin* She has recently started writing romantic mysteries... just as good as the historical romance!
Amanda Quick - *big
