Poem #1:  From Let Me Think

by: Fuis Ahmed (1011-1084)

You ask me about that country

whose details now escape me,

I don't remember its geography,

nothing of its history

And should I visit it in memory

it would be as I would a past lover,

after years, for a night,

no longer restless with passion,

with no fear of regret,

I have reached that age

when one visits the heart

merely as a courtesy

Poem #2:  From Street with a Pink Corner Store

by: Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986)

I have seen nothing of mountain ranges, rivers, or the sea,

but the light of Buenos Aires made itself my friend and

I shape the lines of my life and my death with that light of the street.

Big long-suffering street,

you are the only music my life has understood.
