History
Brass Band Midden-Brabant (BBMB) was founded in 1975 by members of the fanfare 'Sint-Cecilia' from Nossegem. The brass band movement in Belgium was yet to develop, but conductor Jean-Pierre Leveugle managed to attract skilled amateur musicians and young promising music students from the Flemish conservatories.
Every year the band improved and several of the younger musicians became leading brass players in Belgium and abroad. To name just a few: Benny Wiame, Ivan Meylemans ( Solotrombone - Concertgebouworkest, Amsterdam), Ben Haemhouts (Solotrombone - Bamberger Symfoniker), Manu Mellaerts, Michel Tilkin, Jeroen Berwaerts…
Brass Band Midden-Brabant is currently conducted by Benny Wiame and Jan Van der Roost.
Since its foundation Brass Band Midden-Brabant has cooperated with internationally renowned brass soloists such as: Christian Lindberg (trombone), Allen Vizzutti (trumpet), Michel Becquet (trombone), Steven Mead (euphonium), Nicholas and Robert Childs (euphonium), Patrick Sheridan (tuba), Roger Webster (cornet), Philip McCann (cornet), Jacques Mauger (trombone), David King (conductor), Eric Aubier (trumpet).
In 1997 the Band was appointed Cultural Ambassador of Flanders, one of the highest honors for an ensemble in Belgium.
