The orchestra normally rehearses twice a month, on first and third (and sometimes fifth) Sunday afternoons, from 2:00-5:00pm in Wigginton Church Hall. Drinks and biscuits available from 1:30 and at the break. Concerts for 1999 are held in December. There are normally 7 to 8 rehearsals for each. Members are expected to attend at least 4 of these, including the last two.
All music supplied - suggestions on prices to programme welcomed. A personalised 100-page book is given to each participant. To pay for music, refreshments, rent, etc., there's a fee of £28 per term (£18 for students).
For the December 1999 Concert I'm planning the following (but open to suggestions):
| Bach | A Brandenburg Concerto (? no. 2) |
| Corelli or Händel | Concerto Grosso |
| Dvorak | Slavonic Dance |
| Gabrieli | Some Polychoral works... |
| Schubert | Marche Militaire |
Directions to Wigginton:
From the York by-pass (northern part) take the B1363 towards Helmsley for about a mile and turn right in to Haxby & Wigginton. About half a mile along you'll see a duck pond on your right. Turn right there (Westfield Lane), then turn left very soon (Greenshaw Drive). Then immediately turn left again (just a few feet) into Back Lane. The church and carpark are on the right.
Please make cheques payable to David Grosvenor.
